There’s a narrative about Sarah Palin that goes something like this: until the Arizona shootings she coulda been a contender. But then with her ill-judged reference to a “blood libel” she lost it, whereas the mighty President Obama only added to his stature with a temperate, thoughtful speech which united America behind him. Bye bye Sarah Palin.
Yeah, right.
No one is saying Sarah Palin doesn’t make the odd gaffe. But no matter how many gaffes she makes – and this won’t be the last – it isn’t going to alter the fact that President Obama is a socialist and his administration a crazy house of eco-loons, crypto-Marxists, progressives, collectivists, surrender monkeys and anarcho-lesbian harpies. Nor that Sarah Palin remains the figurehead for the counter-revolution.
As exhibit a, I present the above moving, exquisitely tasteful tribute song, currently going viral on the internet. It doesn’t matter who Sarah Palin is any more. It’s what she stands for: liberty, small government, the Tea Party. It’ll take more than a few liberal smears to trample values as powerful as that.
Altogether now: “She’s not a Harvard lawyer but she knew what the Founders meant…”

I'd lay a small wager that both she and Todd "pack heat", and I'm not talking hand-warmers for the Alaska winters.
I have heard this place referred to from time to time in other places. The generally left wing media does not seem to like you, they call you a right wing hate site. So I figured that I just had to check this place out. I figured I could leave in a hurry (use the back space button or just close the browser in the case of pop up windows harassing me on my way out) if I didn’t like it.
It is nice to find a place where you can read things and say things that you don’t get to see mentioned or discussed in the mass media.
I am absolutely delighted to find a place that speaks highly of Sarah Palin. The media just slams her 24/7, showing how controlled it is and that they must fear her and the support she has.
Looking around I would guess there are lots of typical good old boy types around here, but these are the type of guys that are the ones that know how to treat a lady with respect, even if they are silly at times (boys will be boys).
I see that there are a number of wives and mothers who post here, so it appears that this is a woman-friendly place.
I have checked into here from time to time. And I found that I was spending more time reading the articles and the comments posted here as time went on. Finally the desire to post something just got the better of me. I guess some of the things that bother other people bother me too, and I just wanted a place to vent.
I am getting sick of things going from once nice to now not so nice, things going from from bad to worse and everyone in any official capacity talking all around the subject but never having the guts to mention exactly what the real problems are, to political correctness that says evil is good and you better learn to get comfortable with it, but if you quote the bible you are using hate speech.
I guess that is the best summary I can give as to why I first came here to check it out, and then spend more time here, and finally signed up yesterday.
I am glad to be here among you, Free Republic seems to be composed of fine, thinking conservative people, as shown by the respect and admiration for Sarah Palin. I am so sick and tired of hearing that she is un-qualified and un-electable by everyone (it seems) in the mass media by those who obviously have an agenda to discredit her.
After posting something the fist few times I got a message that my posting was awaiting review, but I am not getting that after hitting the Post button now. So I guess I passed the test.
I guess the ZOT and Viking Kitties is how you get rid of idiots who come here to cause disruption? I guess when you become popular you attract all kinds of attention seeking idiots. Might as well make fun of them as you kick them out the door.
Myself, I simply ignore idiots. Although in real life I might make a mention to someone who I think is young and not aware of some things, but if they don’t consider or heed my advice then at least I figure that I have done my bit and tried to protect them.
Likely as a former governor of Alaska, she does have some state based protection,likely a discrete trooper heavily armed, on patrol where ever she is.And I agree, I bet the whole family over 18 are packing and honing their skills. Can’t say as I blame them at all.

I am on one run by Freeper LucyT. The list has some great conservative women on it, Fred Nerks being one of the most prominant of intellectuals on the entiore site.
It will take a while to see your way around, but don’t be afraid to ask to join a ping list, they keep you up to date on the things you may find you’re interested in, often way ahead of the news outlets.

It will take me a while to figure things out.
I see that these message threads have one message after another (newer ones under the older ones). Seems like a pretty cool way to follow all the messages in the topic thread. But sometimes there are so many messages posted in a short time frame that it is really helpful to quote the message text that you are responding to.
Is there a quote button here, or do you just highlight and copy and paste like I have been doing?
And also if I may additionally ask, does the quoted text go at the top or bottom of the post? It seems like for shorter selected quotes they should be at the top with the reply under them. Yours was a longer amount of text so I copied and dropped it underneath my reply. Or does it matter?
Some forums use [ and ] tags but I see the message HTML enabled and I assume that means I can use the < and > html tags for format text commands like bold and italics and color ?
If so is that how pictures are posted, by using the < img=”picture.jpg” > html tag ?
Sorry, I am rusty on my text editing of html, as I have too much familiarity just using copy and paste into Microsoft Office and similar word processing programs, and that doesn’t seem to work here...

As to ping lists there is no master list of them that I know of, generally you can read an article from one ( eg. Anne Coulter Ping List) and ask the person posting the article to be put on the list. This is usually done privately through Freep Mail.The private ping lists are like mini fraternities, once you encounter one, you can ask to be included.They are generally topic area specific, and if you find yourself interested in one topic or another , you will encounter the list manager. Just look for the PING post on an article thread. As to posting text, the convention here is that it is usually at the top unless its from an outside source. Also if you mention a Freepers name in your post it is also a convention here to include them when you post. There is no quote button. Its good to have a home page, and most put info. there but generally nothing that would make them insecure.You access that by clicking account on your mail page.

'Countrywide' Kent Conrad (Comrade) has announced he will not be seeking re-election in 2012 (I guess he's going to take what the banker offered and not see what's in the case he picked).
That means the third Congressional seat for the State of North Dakota will be up for grabs, and the other two were swept by Berg (R) and Hoeven (R) this year.
Just tellin the trutgh, LOL. Why should it hurt? LOL.
