Three Fingers of Politics ^ | 1/19/2011 | SkinnieMinnie

While grocery shopping a few weeks ago, I ran across this sign in the parking lot of a well-known grocery store: “Reserved Parking For Low Emissions and Fuel Efficient Hybrid Vehicles.” As can be expected, the sign designated a spot near the entrance of the store, right next to the handicapped spots.

I'm just sick and tired of all this "soccer mom" nonsense.

If anything is a leading indicator that we will eventually end up under the bureaucratic thumb of a one-world government it is the increasing popularity of soccer.

Yeech.

I like to park the Dodge truck there. It looks pretty next to the sign.

They do that here for the HOV lanes. Motorcycles and LEVs are permitted. And I assume that is enforced just like the occupancy regs by the traffic cops. Of course, now they are talking about them being available for a fee so it shows that eco anything is not the key to this.

Park something like a Chrysler Cordoba or a late 1970s Caddy in that spot.

right next to the handicapped spots

So they now have mentally handicapped spots next to the physically handicapped spots?

Yes, I was making a joke, but the fact is you do have to be out of your mind to buy a hybrid (or love to throw away money). Every study I’ve seen shows that they cost significantly more per mile to operate (over the life of the vehicle) than conventinal cars.

Most of the nitwits driving those eco-scam vehicles will drive around the parking lot for 20 minutes waiting for their “special” spot to open up.

Yes, those are government issue items which include fines and/or tow.
This is just a store putting up a sign.
I have seen signs at airports for these cars and the space are all empty. Really could you leave an electric car very long before the battery discharges, ;)

It’s all about the tax breaks. These places put in the spots to qualify as a “green” shopping center and the govt gives them a tax break for it. Most times, though, those stupid spots sit empty.

” Are they really going to tow someone who parks there “illegally” or should I say “un-politically-correctly”? “

They probably won’t tow your car, but they won’t lift a finger to stop the little eco-terrorists from keying up your car

Sign screams out for a cheap, plated, magnetic “Hybrid” badge one could apply to one’s vehicle’s tailgate, decklid, or hatch, hayna? Or no?

IMHO it calls out for people to apply a "Climate Dupe Parking Only" sticker to any such sign.

My grandsons have electric cars. One looks like a John Deer tractor and holds a charge about 45 min, but he can only go a max of 2 mph. The other one is a drifter and can go 12 mph, holds a charge about an hour.
Both are way cool.

"eco-terrorists from keying up your car"

Don't the eco-terrorists know that keying a car undermines the aerodynamic qualities of a smooth paint job, increases vehicle drag, and leads to lower gas mileage?

Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.
