Heres an excellent read by Professor Jacobson at Legal Insurrection.
Hes calling the Lamestream Medias efforts on the part of the Left Operation Demoralize, which is the game plan for re-electing Obama president.
It essentially boils down to what I call Eeyore-breeding, which is easier than propagating rabbits in Republican ranks. I have never understood why, but conservative people in general just seem to be a naturally pessimistic lot who believe almost everything they see on TV if its negative news about a Republican. Were doomed!, Woe is us!, and We might as well just give up, or not even try are as commonly heard in conservative circles as Those dummies fell for it again! is shouted with wild, incredulous glee in the offices of MSNBC.
Professor Jacobson gives an excellent rundown of the medias efforts to attack Governor Sarah Palin at any cost, eight days of the week, because the Left is terrified of the Governor and knows she would wipe the floor with Obama. She is exactly the candidate thats needed, because she is the only person on the political radar I believe has the constitution and fortitude to really hit Obama hard, on all issues, including why hes hiding his birth certificate and what he did at Trinity United for 20 years, in those pews, or in back rooms all around Chicago cooking up the various deals that landed him in power. Governor Palin will pull no punches, and would not run the sort of milquetoast, generic, Borax campaign Cocktail Party consultants in the GOP want the 2012 nominee to run.
What Professor Jacobson leaves out of his analysis is the clear and determined effort on the part of the media to promote Cocktail Party, losing candidates for the GOP 2012 nomination while vociferously attacking Governor Palin.

This can't be said enough. The MSM and JournoListers want to manipulate public opinion so much that the GOP feels compelled to put up more losers like Romney, Pawlenty, Daniels, Gingrich, etc.
We're all onto their game, but if the GOP is stupid enough to fall for the same old tricks again, then it deserves the candidates it selects and the government it helps elect. Screw them!
Who among those past LOSERS who LOST in the primaries to... wait for it.. McCAIN has the balls to take on Obama?
Palin would not only tell it straight in refreshingly direct language we have heard from ANYONE on our side in a long long time, but I also would not put it past her to walk across the stage and slap his silly ass for lying right to her face.
Or challenge that girly man to a hunting contest- first one to shoot and field dress a whole caribou AND prepared a delicious stew wins.
This explains polls showing how Sarah Palin’s reaction to the two Tucson atrocities (the shooting and the Leftie accusations)... “hurt” her. You can feel the fear they have of her!
Rush is on to them as well.
Not only do they not provide any internals, these polls dont even give her favorable unfavorable with Republicans. This USA Today Gallup poll is essentially the same as the one in November which had Palin at 40-52, right after the smashing GOP victory.
Nancy Pelosis favorable/unfavorable is 33-54. So if this poll is to be believed,Nancy Pelosi, the most unpopular House Speaker in 75 years who presided over a once in a century drubbing of the party in the midterms two months ago is roughly as popular as the very same politicianSarah Palin who was most responsible for administering the drubbing and has a favorable rating of 76% in her own party (according to Rasmussen).
In other words, they are saying, pay absolutely no attention to the empirical evidence63 House seats takenand trust that they weighted the poll correctly with the right demographic and geographic mix and party percentages. Sorry, but I do not trust USA Today or Gallup or CNN, especially when they try to tell me to pay no attention to what eyes see...that black really is white...and white is black (depending, of course, on how they weight it).
If their purpose is to deter Sarah Palin (and I think it is), it is not going to work. She is a good deal smarter than I, and it is easy for me to see through this ruse.
“The polls methodology is rather interesting as well. NBC/WSJs pollster, Hart/McInturff, polled 1000 adults without restricting respondents to registered or likely voters. In fact, 19% of those responding claimed not to have voted in the 2008 elections, which is almost 1 in 5 and tends to make the predictive value of the poll rather weak. The D/R/I sample split is 31/21/39, a ten-point Democratic advantage when Gallup and Rasmussen both show the electorate evenly split or with Republicans taking a slight edge in affiliation. A 21% sample composition for Republicans is a gross underrepresentation. The previous poll has a 33/23/36 split.”
