Expatriate discusses online petition to indict Sarah Palin for inciting violence (Followup)

On Tuesday, we reported that Dr. Stuart Jeanne Bramhall, an American expatriate now living in New Zealand, has started an online petition to indict Sarah Palin.

Since that report, Dr. Bramhall has responded to questions put to her in an email regarding the petition.

What follows is the full text of questions related to the petition with her responses:

SCE: What laws, specifically, do you allege she (Palin) violated?

DR. BRAMHALL: There are federal statutes against incitement to riot, incitement to violence and incitement to murder - in which the Supreme Court has ruled that First Amendment protections do not apply. I'm not a lawyer, so I can't really give an opinion whether Sarah Palin violated any of them. However I am very concerned about inflammatory statements she has made over the past 12 mos. related to gun violence against people whose politics she opposes - especially when I read and heard the reaction of her supporters - many of whom heard her say these people should be shot. In this context identifying specific congressmen with gun sites could be construed as sending a message that she is condoning violent retaliation against them. I am also aware that animal rights activists and Muslims and other minority activists have been indicted under incitement to violence statutes for very vague threats that weren't directed against specific individuals.

SCE: What, specifically, do you want the DOJ to do to her?

DR. BRAMHALL: I am aware that Palin is not the only one urging violent retaliation against political opponents - that a lot of it is coming from talk show hosts and commentators - and people tell me from KOS and the DNC.

Her responses are amazing. Talk about complete hypocrisy. She also says she's concerned about the threats against Palin, but it's stuff like her petition that helped cause them.

She just happens to single out Palin, even though she’s “heard” this is incindiary language is also on KOS and from the DNC.

She’s as freakin loony as the politician she supports.

There can be no doubt she’s not been outside her home since arriving in New Zealand ~ or she’d been scared out of her bloomers with a gander at the football game preliminaries.

Yeah, an online petition to indict Sarah Palin. My goodness, what a clever idea! It's obvious that this woman is even smarter than our mainland liberals, which must be... hold on... the reason she lives in New Zealand!

What a silly, self-important individual. Expats have abandoned their country and their opinions are no longer our concern.

Good grief! I guess we’re all AWARE now after reading this, that she’s AWARE of a great many things. Too bad she’s not AWARE she’s a kook!

She practiced in Chico and Seattle? What more needs to be said? She paints herself as a libertarian - sure ‘nuff. How far would she get in grabbing attention if she called herself a liberal loon?

They know she’s inevitable.

They knew it the first time they saw her.

It's why they go insane every time they think of her.

ineluctable

The money quote: She considers herself a libertarian who supports Ron Paul, calling him a "voice in the wilderness" on issues like the Middle East and banking.

This is why FR is a conservative website and not a libertarian one. Conservatives know the difference between right and wrong. For the libertarian, there is no right or wrong as that would denote morality, and they insist that morality cannot be legislated.

Oh brother, now the shrink is playing lawyer and a idiotic one at that. By the way, isn’t it immoral and illegal to falsely accuse someone of something they didn’t do?

One thing for sure is that they will have the support of a good number of those on this forum along with the support of the Republican Party in their efforts.

The good doctor is so wrong on so many levels that this must be a classic example of ‘projection’...

Our 'president' does it all the time.

This is her biography posted at Amazon:

Obviously, despite my name, I am a woman. I am also an American, living and working in New Zealand for the past eight years as a child and adolescent psychiatrist. I am also a first time author. My recent memoir describes how intense harassment between 1987 and 2002 led a 54 year old psychiatrist, single mother and social activist, to close my 25 year Seattle practice to begin a new life in New Zealand. What began as unrelenting phone harassment and illegal break-ins, progressed to six attempts on my life and an affair with an undercover agent who railroaded me into a psychiatric hospital. Within months after my release from the hospital, a union activist sought my help for similar harassment and intimidation. The harassment culminated in his murder, which was never investigated or prosecuted owing to interference by US intelligence. This resulted in a personal epiphany for me - as I recognized that Americans who challenge powerful government or corporate interests are denied the protection of the US criminal justice system.
