The Truth about the Pledge of Allegiance
Political Blog ^ | December 1, 2011 | Chris Cantwell

It is rare today to find a conservative who doesn’t think, that anyone who refuses to say the pledge of allegiance is traitor or a socialist or both. The pledge is recited at the beginning of so many different types of gatherings from public schools to “Tea Parties” to you name it. Try to find an American who doesn’t know the words by heart, let me know how that works out for ya. If only more Americans knew their Constitution this well, or for that matter, the truth about the pledge of allegiance, I am certain that America would be a wonderful place to live.

But the fact of the matter is, America is not a wonderful place to live, and it is completely because of that ignorance. People say the pledge of allegiance and think America is the greatest country in the world, the freest, but the fact of the matter is, America ranks 9th in world Freedom according to the Heritage foundation. Mind you this is not some UN Study that gauges freedom by how good your socialized medicine works, or some libertarian conspiracy theory, this is an American, conservative, thinktank! Americans say the pledge and think about the military and how it protects our freedoms, neglecting to take into consideration that War is the biggest enemy of freedom and that one reason their taxes and inflation are so high is because we do 70% of the worlds military spending, partially because we have not known a period of peace longer than 33 years since our inception, and the last time it was that long was after the Civil War.

One takes solace where one finds it. Yes, we have a leader who’s more interested in the re-creation of France than doing the job as he swore an oath to do. Yes, we are being challenged on many fronts, and will be challenged on many more. Obamacare, TSA nudges, invasion of privacy, et al. Rather than simply blindly following along, it is, indeed, good to know one’s history. And yet, when a time comes to stand for something, the pledge is at least a start, and certainly better than anything the current administration is likely to compose, of which Lang Lang would no doubt be proud. Not that I’d defend it’s origins. Loving one’s country is not, at least in the case of America, quite so sullied as the author might make it out to be. It’s a long way from where it’s needs to be. But it is still better than most. The challenge is to make it better than it is, not to spend all one’s time gnashing one’s teeth in the dark.

This list is based on the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) Military Expenditure Database which calculates military expenditure data for 2009 (in constant 2008 US$). It also includes military expenditure data as a percentage of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2008.[1]

United States 4.3% GDP
Saudi Arabia 8.2%
United Arab Emirates 5.9%
Israel 7.0%
Iraq 5.4%
Oman 7.7%
Sudan 4.4%
Jordan 5.9%
Georgia 8.5%
Chad 6.6%
Eritrea 20.9%

This sort of thing wouldn’t happen in an educated society.

The progressive goal has **always** been indoctrination. It has been that way since the first modern government schools opened in the mid-1800s to early 1900s.

“The Pledge” was originally written in 1892 by a man named Francis Bellamy, a Baptist Minister, and a “Christian Socialist”.

1892...So?...Stupid conservatives, is it clear to you now? Socialist dominated government schooling has been around since my grandmother's day ( born 1894). Schools that are supervised by the voting mob ( school boards, AKA: comrade committees)can NOT be reformed. They have always been socialist! There was NEVER a magic era ( pre-1960s, 40s, or 30s) when collectivist, socialist-funded, government owned and managed schools did not teach children to be comfortable with socialism and collectivism.

In an effort to promote Nationalism, (and the magazine) Francis Bellamy and James Upham (Editor of “The Youth’s Companion”), worked with the National Education Association....

Even in 1892 the NEA was in league with socialists to transform this nation by way of indoctrinating our nation's children.

And so it went that on October 12th 1892, public schools were first dictated by the Federal Government to use the pledge.

1892...So?...Just exactly when was this golden era of collectivist government schooling?

Solution: Shut down the collectivist government schools! ALL of them! Every one of them is collectivist and socialist. Work to see that every child in this nation has access to a private and conservative education that thoroughly integrated Judeo Christian values and our nation's founding principles into every minute of the school day.

As a Christian, I have always felt that pledging allegiance to a flag was a form of idolatry.

I don’t fault others for doing it. It’s just a personal conviction for me.

I am uncomfortable with national or state flags in a church assembly.

We are free men. We must not have an overlord government to tell us what to do or demand our allegiance.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty!
~ 2nd Corinthians 3:17

There is a time to fight foreign oppressors and to resist invaders. But no pledge of allegiance or loyalty oath is necessary to defend one’s homeland from foreign invaders or domestic oppressors.

The oath to uphold the Constitution taken by office holders puts them on notice that they are accountable to God to defend the principles of Liberty codified by that document: Liberty of the Sovereign Individual and the States comprised of Sovereign Individuals.

This is why no atheist is qualified either to hold office or to give testimony in a court room. Any oath they make is meaningless, since they do not hold themselves accountable to an Objective, Transcendent, Eternal God.

Nawwwww, he can run for political office....he qualifies big time.

Especially if he knows nothing and cares nothing about the Constitution. That'll qualify him for the House and the Senate.
