Unemployment down to 9.0%? On 36,000 new jobs? hmmmmmmm!

Last Friday the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) tried to pull a fast one by announcing that although we “gained” just 36,000 jobs our unemployment rate had fallen a full .4 % to 9.0%. This nonsense was countered by a largely underreported release from Gallup which set the unemployment rate at a more believable 9.8%.

How can we possibly believe these people?

The BLS report also told us that contrary to its own previous statements there were actually 150,000 fewer jobs created during 2010 than they had announced there were.

Another admission from the media/Obama cabal is that the 83,000 average increase of new jobs over the last three months is actually not enough to even keep up with population growth from legal immigration.

Obama’s “Open Borders” policy of allowing 125,000 new legal immigrants and uncounted illegal aliens into our country every month is creating at least 42,000 new unemployed American workers every thirty days.

While the understanding of “unemployment” most of us have is a state of being out of work but looking for employment; the BLS can apparently twist things around so those who are so discouraged they no longer even look for work are not counted in official unemployment statistics.

In the “Newspeak” of Obama’s administration if everyone who is “unemployed” became so discouraged they stopped looking for work, it would report the unemployment rate had fallen to 0% and claim credit for “full employment.”

Unemployed for more than six months

The same BLS produced a statistic in December showing 6.1 million people (40% of all unemployed workers) had been out of work for more than six months, the recognized danger sign for an individual’s prospects for eventual re-employment.... more

504,000 people dropped out of the work force that month from the previous month. That will alaways lower the unemployment number. No magic to it. just 4th grade math.

43 million Americans are on food stamps
|

Despite improvements in the economy, this country still has millions of people in distress and a lot more than during the early stages of the recession.

More than 43 million people are getting food stamps, according to the federal government’s figures. Compare that to about 33 million in 2009.

Clearly, this raises questions about the strength of the economic recovery. Food stamps, along with extended unemployment benefits and tax cuts, are giving millions of people the ability to spend. But what would the economy look like if government wasn’t feeding people and providing them other money to spend? And how much are struggling people going to be able to spend in the consumer economy when food and energy prices are rising sharply?

More become lazy and the “unemployable” rate skyrockets. They must be employable to count in the unemployment rate. There also must be ‘employers’. There are less employers every week as businesses fail. For Obama the unemployment rate will be down to zero when there are no more employers. The unemployable rate is skyrocketing.

Gubmint math... put numbers in, get the results ya want. Only when you realize it doesn’t have to make sense... does it then begin to make sense.

Yeah, but the Roosevelt Institute (after FDR) claims labor force dropouts are at an all-time high.

The unemployable rate is skyrocketing.

That concerns me very much. It becomes a problem that can persist for decades and which cannot be solved except through attrition (death). I'm not at all sure that our country can recover from it.

I am so tired of being lied to by the Government I am fleeced every pay-period to provide for.

We could always spend billions upon billions to train these “unemployables” for new GREEN jobs.

Things are not getting better. We are not getting the truth about unemployment from Barack Obama.

No kidding? Most everything coming out of the President's mouth and his ilk is/are Bogus. They all just chatter what sounds good to them, regardless of the Truth?

Last summer was "The Summer of Recovery". There was no recovery, and no rational person expected one, but when 0bamao and Idiot Joe Biden proclaimed it, it sounded good and their moron supporters swallowed it hook, line, and sinker.

Now the 0bama regime is telling us that unemployment is only 9%. Again, the only people that actually believe that are his moron supporters (including the MSM). This is far from the truth, but since the campaign is winding up, it sounds much better in a sound bite than the truth - that unemployment is around 20%.

The U-6 number is massaged for the masses. Total BS. According to the BLS the U-3 number, IOW, total unemployed as of January 31, 2011 was 16.1% of the total workforce. I think even that number is generous.....Hoax and chains......

What happened to the number of new applications for unemployment?

It's usually "unexpectedly" around 450,000.

Hasn't been mentioned anywhere I've seen. Just 36,000 new jobs and the number of unemployed drops?!?!?

An average of 720 new jobs per state and the number DROPS!?!

WTF indeed!
