Arianna Huffington gets Palin-ized
The Daily Caller ^ | February 11, 2011 | Amy Siskind

You’ve really done it this time, Arianna Huffington. You’ve violated the unwritten rules of our culture. Rose above our comfort zone. Now, sadly, we must destroy you. But don’t take it personally. It’s simply because, well, you’re a woman.

Here’s how we’ll do it…

First, we’ll need to create a caricature. Something we can use to demean and diminish you — and right away! Distract you and get that darn hammer away from the glass ceiling. Hmmm, let’s see. Which tools haven’t been deployed against a powerful woman lately? We used not likable with Hillary Clinton. Stupid and talks funny with Michele Bachmann. Bitchy boss with Meg Whitman. Hmmm, what’s left?

Hold on. Got it! Arianna Huffington is a SELLOUT! (assist to Dana Milbank: happily he had time to pitch in since he’s taking the month off from bashing Sarah Palin.)

Yep, that’s right. Huffington is a sellout. She co-founded and grew a media empire and then made a profit. How dare she? She sold her soul to the devil (a.k.a. corporate America). It’s true. And it’s been confirmed: one of her competitors counted comments on her website. Yep, she’s a sellout alright! My gosh, this is simply awful. What’s next with this Huffington woman? Maybe Tim Rutten is right: child labor?

We’ll need to take action and right away. Here’s what we’ll need to do…

We’ll need to bring the “sellout” caricature to life by branding her with real-world examples (or make them up). Then, we’ll spread these stories all over the media: an all-out media blitz! We’ll explain that she only cares about her own financial benefit. We’ll claim she uses the realm of politics as a vehicle for making money. We’ll let everyone know that she sold out her followers for her own celebrity and wealth.

Yeah, this plan will work just fine. Branding Huffington will work like a charm. She’s a sellout, alright!

But, not so fast. There’s a problem. Those news stories seem kind of familiar, like they’ve been around for a while. Oh, no! Those are all stories about Sarah Palin: Arianna Huffington has been Palin-ized!!!

But, wait a moment. Would the “sellout” caricature work if Huffington were, say, a man? No way! Not for a minute!

If Arianna were Donald Huffington, we would label her a titan of industry. If Arianna were Jeff Huffington, we would label her a true visionary. If Arianna were Stephen Huffington, we would extol her business savvy for cashing in on her years of hard work. If Arianna were Kenneth Huffington — hold on — Kenneth Lerer is an owner of HuffPost and did cash out alongside Huffington. But, hey, he’s a dude. So, here’s what we say: Ata boy, Kenny!

But back to Huffington. Let’s just keep going with the sellout caricature. Works like a charm. For now, let’s just keep this as our little boys’ club in the media secret!

Yes, I do have a comment.
First, I’m outlineing two books written by Elisabeth Elliot (her first husband was Jim Elliot, one of the 5 martyered missionaries back in January 1956) and sending them out via e-mail.

The title of the first book is: “Let Me Be a Woman” and the title of the second book is: “The Mark of a Man.”

From the inside cover of “The Mark of a Man”

Radical femininism has blurred the distinction between the sexes, leaving many men and women today stranded in regard to forming their sex roles. In this book, Elisabeth Elliot brings into focus the separate functions that God assigned to Adam and Eve, which show that the sexes are “gloriously and radically unequel.” Written as personal advice to her nephew Pete, her convictions on mainliness will help you to see the glory and purpose of true masculinity-—and reassure you as you shape your own Christian sexual identity.

Other books written by this author are: “Through Gates of Splendor”; “Shadow of the Almighty”; “The Savage My Kinsman”; “Passion and Purity”; “Loneliness”

My prayer is: may we all get back to asking our Lord God and Creator; “what would you have me to do?”

First, we’ll need to create a caricature.

Impossible. Arianna is a caricature. First she was a dippy, new age type writer in Southern California. Then she marries a rich Republican millionaire, and plays the politian's wife. Then as soon as he loses his bid for a Senate seat he comes out of the closet, and she claims she had no idea he was homosexual, and becomes a conservative pundit, going after Clinton with both barrels (oops, another one of the violent, hate speach metaphors). Then suddenly she goes 180 degrees to the left and starts a liberal forum. The only thing that puzzles me is how anyone ever took her seriously to start with.

My best Sunday moment came when Arriana and Kos were on the same discussion panel with George Will. Those two were the smallest twitsin oversized chairs. Will batted them around like a cat plays with a dead mouse.

The author informed my in her first paragraph, that I really did not need to read any further. None of the things mentioned by Hugin, above, seemed to hold any relevence for her. Huffington was only getting negative comments because she was a woman. I am glad she showed her hand so early in her piece.

“We used not likable with Hillary Clinton.”

That’s not a smear, that’s a fact. Since when is it wrong to state a fact?

Can she see Corporate America from her back porch? Can she say “sell-out” without an annoying accent? How much tax will she evade?

Don’t forget she wrote a bad book about Picasso detailing how he was a rotten person so he was a rotten artist - Arianna as brilliant art historian; hired Ed Rollins as her husband’s political consultant and then offered him hookers to keep him on staff. And that famous moment when she told Sean Hannity that she only flew on planes when one happened to be going her own way.

I'll wait for the genetic tests to come back before I concede that point...

So far, Palin has stayed conservative, while Arrianna turned her coat, and she may have done it again.

She was powerful because her husband was rich.

She was able to start a blog because a man bankrolled her.

Big BIG BIG difference than Sarah Palin becoming powerful due to her own efforts.

Michelle Bachmann is a powerful woman due to her own efforts.

Seems the wussy men in our culture don’t like real powerful women one bit. They want their women bought and paid for.

It might be well to remember that when she was head of the Oxford Union (first woman to be so)she was referred to as "the most upwardly mobile Greek since Icarus".

She is ambitious to a fault. I do not think she has any philosophy other than her own advancement.

The author informed my in her first paragraph, that I really did not need to read any further.

You cheated yourself but I suspect some who read the entire thing missed the point also. She is blasting the tactic of denigrating women, a mainstay of the Left where conservative women are concerned. It is not so much about Huffington as it is about the politics of personal destruction when it is aimed at women. In fact, as the title of the article says, she has been Palinized, indicating how Palin was treated long before this happened to Huffington.

You folks are missing the point.

Hillary Clinton rode in on the coattails of a man. She’s pretty much clueless and a Saul Alinsky lefty like Obama. -Next, I suppose the plan is for Bill Clinton to ride her coattails for a while as First Lady (it’s his turn now). He certainly sullied his part in the American Presidency. President Bush had to sterilize the Oval Office when he came in - literally I’m sure.
