Keeping it All in Persepective...

Take a moment and consider your place
in the bigger scheme of things~

And while that's indeed illuminating (sorry)....  it's
big universe with plenty of other stars out there:

Jupiter only one pixel on that scale. But this behemoth Arcturus
-25x the Sun's size and 110x as bright-
is just 5th largest here...our own sun down to a single pixel:

The monster above -Anteres- is the 15th brightest star in the sky, and is over 1000 light-years away. Feeling your place yet?

Now try to wrap your mind around this: the photo below was taken by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope, and ultra-deep-field infrared shot of countless entire galaxies, billions of light-years away...

And here is a zoom of just one of just the darkest regions in the above photo...

HUMBLING- isn't it?

And yet, The Creator knows how many hairs are on your head;

and not even a single sparrow dies without Him taking note (Matthew 10:29-31)... so how big are your problems, really...?

Be a friend to yourself... keep life in perspective

Thanks for posting this! One reason I like hiking in the mountains is because it reminds me of how small I am and puts life and whatever problems I have in a different perspective.

Now do the same on the time continuum and see where we are in the space/time aspect of things. Not only are we tiny but we are here for less that a blink.

Yet, to us, the Universe is US and all in our purview. These other things are just intellectual exercises in OUR universe. Even more personally, MY universe is ME and all I encounter. You guys are just players in MY universe. My universe does not exist without me nor does yours exist without you.

Space/time are simply phenomena in MY universe.

Think about this...

You could comfortably fit the entire orbit of Mars within Antares, with room to spare...

He puts in us an expression of His creation. For the tiny moment we are here we know we belong.
We are confident in our place knowing that the sun will rise and there will be air to breath.
We strive to achieve in spite of the pitifully insignificant impact of our efforts.
We love life and cling to it with joy.
We pray to our Maker in the knowledge that He made us for His purpose. He knows us and will insure our place in His creation.
The Living God who walks among us in the source of all and we are held firmly in His thrall. With Him we are filled with hope.
We deny His presence in our lives at peril of our very identity.

What? The Earth is not the center of the universe, fixed in place with all else revolving about us, and created solely for our benefit? Next thing I know, you will be trying to say that Aristotle and Ptolemy were wrong, and Copernicus and Galileo were right. And that the earth is NOT flat. (Sorry, couldn’t resist a rather dumb try at humor).

Thanks, RR, for posting. BTW, there is a short video on Wimp.com, showing the size or our galaxy compared to Andromeda and some other, larger ones.
