Freshman Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) gave a speech to close this year's Conservative Political Action Conference that earned a more enthusiastic reaction from conservative activists than those given by most rumored 2012 presidential hopefuls over the past three days.
The first-term congressman brought the audience to its feet several times late Saturday, repudiating President Obama's social and economic policies and promising "a new dawn in America."
West took the coveted speaking slot that was rejected by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who declined to attend CPAC for the fourth straight year.
West, who represents a district that voted for President Obama in 2008 and Sen. John Kerry in 2004, will be a top Democratic target next year and opened his speech by noting the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has already run a radio ad in his district.
Man, do I like that guy. I would love to see him run against Nelson.

A good speech, Allen West has a talent.
Col. West is far too classy for that den of iniquity.
West said now is the time to reform the tax code, lower taxes on business, eliminate the capital gains tax and fight for the adoption of a Constitutional balanced budget amendment.
“I say we start looking at every government agency and program that’s been created in the last ten years, and let’s start making some hard choices,” said West, who received a loud cheer when he singled out the Environmental Protection Agency.
I think I just watched video of the next President of the United States of America. West/Palin West/Bachmann West/Cain would make me so proud. I would no longer wake up in despair of what Obama did. No more Obama depression in a depression. A man that promised hope brought me more depression than any human being has ever. This man, West would debate the gray hair off of Obama’s head.
Either way.
Liberal heads would explode all over the island of Manhattan.
Cain, West and Bachmann were the three best speeches at CPAC along with Rand Paul.
I would prefer a spending control amendment. Dems would use the balanced budget as an excuse to raise taxes to cover more spending and programmes. Find a way to set Federal spending at a fixed, low percentage of GDP.
You should see the acceptance speech videos on Youtube he made right after he won his seat in November. Hands-down, the most pro-war victory speech made, especially when he quoted “peace through superior firepower” in reference to America.
I like Cain. Palin has to get in her energy brilliance of ANWR.
Besides I would love to tick off the media West/Palin.

He’s in good company. My congressman seems to have put regulations at the top of his target list as well.
