Rove and O'Reilly equate "birthers" with "truthers" (ho-hum vanity)
February 16, 2011 | Seizethecarp

Posted on 02/16/2011 6:17:43 PM PST by Seizethecarp

O'Reilly began a segment tonight by saying that he did not believe the recent poll that showed that 51% of likely GOP primary voters didn't believe that Obama was born in HI. He offered up a different poll showing that 58% of Americans believed Obama was born in HI.

Rove came on and after admitting that Obama could end the birth certificate controversy immediately by simply releasing his birth records, Rove said the controversy benefited Obama.

Then both O'Reilly and Rove equated "birthers" with "truthers" and Ron Paul supporters and said they were on the Tea Party and GOP fringe.

When Rove said he was satisfied that Obama was born in HI and started to refer to the newspaper birth announcements, O'Reilly butted in and said (IIRC) "You got that from me. We broke that here first. We investigated that."

Who says this so-called birther issue hurt the Republican party? Didn't the Republican party get 64 seats even though the birther issue is in circulation?

Not only is it in circulation, but it is revived thanks to the bumbling Gov. Ambercrombie.

I think the failure to vet Obama or McCain indicts the elitists of both parties, including Rove, Ailes and enabler O’Reilly.

O’Reilly got a 1 billion viewer audience for his Super Bowl interview with Obama and want his program to be a “safe zone” for Obama on the “birther” issue.

But O’Reilly’s no-spin claim is now tattered by his own spin claiming that the birth certificate issue “doesn't matter”.

I think he got a bit of mail from viewers after he made that claim earlier this week.

I don't care WHO you are or WHAT your political affiliation, if 42% of the population believes that the President was born somewhere OTHER than the US, that is a pretty big slice of America that thinks YOU NEVER belonged in the Oval Office because you aren't an American!

There are distinct differences between birthers and truthers:
  1. Military aircraft did not destroy Obama's birth records
  2. There were no explosives found in the basement of the FactCheck.org office
  3. Cell phones and blackberries do indeed operate at the the elevation the White House is located
  4. George W. Bush is not Obama's father
  5. Gold was not found missing under Obama's pillow
  6. Unlike 9/11 conspiracies, there is only one person involved and is to blame for this fiasco: Obama himself

these idiots (Rove,BOR) think people that speculate in the face of intentionally withheld information and then seek answers i.e. "birthers" are the same as the nut-jobs that formulate "facts" based on no evidence.. .i.e. so called "truthers"

It is incumbent upon the person who runs for President to pass muster. . .He needs to prove his eligibility, not us.

O'Fatty claims to Rove about the newspaper announcements: "You got that from me. We broke that here first. We investigated that."

No. As Fred Nerks posted on FR on July 02, 2009,

Texas Darlin’ posted about these announcement back in July 2008. Here note about the announcement:

*The birth announcement was tracked down by Lori Starfelt, the producer of a documentary that PUMA is working on. READ the comments below for in-depth explanations from Lori about the announcement.

“Truthers” hold to their beliefs, in spite of overwhelming scientific evidence to the contrary.

“Birthers” have been presented with no hard evidence to contradict their beliefs, or dispel their doubts — even though that evidence is readily available to Obama.

Heard an interesting theory on the Medved show this afternoon. The reason there is no birth certificate in Hawaii is that he was born in Seattle. It is hidden because his backstory is a fantasy. His mother and father were never married, and the only relationship was between the sheets. The whole “Dreams of My Father” is all BS. His father just knocked up his mother and that is all there is to it.

..not to equate swift boat veterans of the Viet Nam war to us "birthers" but BOR maligned the VN vets in 2004 to curry favor with John Kerry; he wanted Kerry on his show -- as it turned out, BOR and Kerry are friends I believe.

BOR needs access to the Obama Administration.. he has to use every opportunity to kowtow to Obama and "keep on truckling" for the sake of his business.

Despite his laughable "no spin" claim he is a whirling dervish of vigorous chanting and ecstatic devotion to his business and his ruling class friends.

I am sure BOR liked this little plea in song from a Beetle back in the VN war days, for this "birther" it don't get no simpler..

These two creeps know damn well it's not only about Obama’s place of birth. Obama is hiding everything from his past. I would have a problem with that, even if his past wasn't full of skeletons. The questions surrounding this guy are even more important now that he's damaging our country with his horrible policies. I have no respect for anybody who ridicules people who are only asking the president to release the most basic information about his past.

Of course these little puppets with dubious pasts are being told what to say. The Saudis paid good money for the white hut to get their muslim in there.

Let’s see what happens when Corsi’s book, “Where’s The Birth Certificate?” hits the “New York Slimes” Best Seller List.

EXACTLY! Not only do we care about the Constitution, we're really good at multi-tasking too! The "birthers" (of which I've been one since before the term was coined) are as much an asset as the Tea Party is, and in fact, share a pleasant amount of overlap with in my experience. As I recall, before we showed our teeth, Karl Rove wasn't real fond of us Tea Party'ers either.

The Department of Education, National Education Association, all of the teachers unions, college professors and assorted liberal universities have "dumbed down America" so much that they are now able to enact their socialist/communist agendas openly.

I pray we're not too late to stop them.

Why doesn’t BOR simply show us all the proof he has, instead of just talking about it. Let him lay it all on the table and step by step show his evidence.

Maybe he could write a book about it and then he’d talk about ‘my book’ during every show!!! And he’d end every show with letters from readers saying how great his ‘book’ is!

I agree with O and Rove in this case. With all due respect to my freeper friends who are “birthers”,I find it kind of embarrassing. That said, I had originally thought that this issue was going to work against Conservatives and Republicans, but it looks like it might not. In fact, it may work for them. Who knows, they may be right all along (birthers), in which case, I will eat a large plate of Crow. So while I disagree with the birthers, I wont stoop to ridicule them or question their intelligence, just a difference of opinion.
