Progressivism Has Been “Outed”
Canada Free Press ^ | Arnold Ahlert

Many Americans, perhaps for the first time in their lives, are beginning to recognize the contemptible nature of progressivism. How does one defend the total abandonment of the democratic process, occurring first in Wisconsin and then in Indiana, where Democrats legislators have literally run away from their responsibilities? One can’t—without revealing the bankruptcy of one’s own convictions. The most satisfying aspect of it all? Americans are getting a daily dose of progressivism’s only unalterable tenet: the ends justify the means.

For those of us who have long been paying attention, this isn’t news. Yet plenty of Americans scoffed at the idea that those who have long engaged in class warfare, stoked racial divisiveness, and fanned the flames of national self-loathing were anything more than people expressing a different viewpoint. When push came to shove, the Constitutionally-founded restraints of the rule of law would eventually prevail, right?

It's easy. Do it.

It may be easy to do in some states but others not so much. The Chicago machine has a firm grip on Illinois and most of Illinois' politicians, including a so called "republican" U.S. Senator - Mark Kirk.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I am planning a move. Missouri, while not perfect, is head and shoulders above Illinois.

This is a historic opportunity to pass legislation all over the country that will destroy the Democrat Party forever.

I would say to destroy the "Democrat Party as we know it." I.e., the corrupt Unionist Party that feeds on laundered taxpayer dollars.

It's interesting to think about what the new second major party will look like after the Unionists are gone, and said party has to sink or swim, funding-wise, on how well it does in the marketplace of political and economic ideas.

It may indeed continue to spout Progressivism (communism). That's one thing, though, when it isn't simultaneously feeding at the public trough through FORCED dues, which are recycled taxpayer dollars.

WI begets Indiana. Indiana begets Ohio. Ohio begets NJ. NJ begets Pennsylvania.

I appreciate that geographical dance right around Illinois. It's true, this state is hopeless.

There were so many great posts on this thread, it was too cumbersome to respond to all of them. So I just want to say to everybody, WAY TO GO! Thank you for so many interesting points.

We are (as Krauthammer says) in a period of “magnificient turmoil” in our Republic and the chances that it turns out well are rather good.

I just read a book called The Fourth Turning, written in 1997. It has some amazingly accurate predictions, based purely on analysis of the cycles and "seasons" of history and generations.

While the book has some parts I had to doggedly plow through, overall it was fascinating and compelling. The bottom line is that the cycles of history show that we are entering a season of "winter" --- death of the old, then rebirth of something new.

The authors (remember this was written in 1997) predicted that historical cycles showed that around 2005, give or take a few years, there would be something cataclymic such as a worldwide economic crash. (2008 Great Recession anyone, which actually got rolling in 2006?) Also that world-reordering wars have happened throughout history about every 80-90 years, so we're due one between now and about 2026 (according to them).

I bring this up because of your point about realizing that there are much larger forces at work here than maybe most of us tend to pay attention to. This was one of the great things for me about reading the book: it made me realize that I'm not wrong that the world seems to be cracking up, but that winter has to come -- there is nothing we can do about it -- for there to be a reset and renewal in the future.

But it’s like removing cancer. You may not be able to get it all at first, but removing what you can still improves the prognosis for the patient.

As states start to assert themselves as political entities and, thus, create a more robust federalism (as envisioned by our founders), more and more people will vote with their feet, leaving Socialist Slave states and moving to Free States.

If a state wants to pursue Progressivist policies, fine, SO LONG AS it doesn’t stick its paw out to get its crappola funded by the rest of us. Once we get rid of wealth transfers BETWEEN THE STATES, it won’t matter what Illinois votes itself in terms of Proggie benefits, etc. If it can’t pay for them out of its own resources, buhbye.

I agree our side has been too polit for far too long. When they lie call them liars, when they cheat call them crooks etc. Threat them lke the children they are and point out just how stupid their ideas are and Americans will listen because they are ready for the message. If we all run out homes like the democrats have run this country we’d all be homeless.

I’m thinking:

“Social Justice” = slavery.

All the stuff people are supposedly “entitled” to as a matter of “social justice” requires other people to be forced, i.e., enslaved, to pay for it.

Excellent article.

How does one defend the total abandonment of the democratic process, occurring first in Wisconsin and then in Indiana, where Democrats legislators have literally run away from their responsibilities?

Here's how the Indiana legislators are explaining themselves. They are "victims". From Indiana House Democrats remain in Illinois

........."While in Illinois, the representatives are trying to set up a meeting with their Wisconsin counterparts, 14 state senators, also in exile in Illinois.

"Hopefully there's going to be an attempt to arrange a meeting that we could embrace and sing kumbaya together," said Brown.".............

"It's almost like two victims coming together to talk to each other about the victimizers. You may learn some more about how to protect the people you're trying to protect," said Bauer.

“The majority of US citizens want the unions broken.”

I don’t agree. But the majority want union power reined in. If membership was optional, I wouldn’t have a problem. I suspect 30% or more of the membership would opt out the day it went into effect.

Definitely! Social justice is all about enslaving the people with promises of redistributing the wealth. They do run out of other peoples money and then they are incapacitated and totally helpless. They know nothing useful.

Such evil.

This country has come to a time of great choosing. The sheep are being separated from the goats. It's either a free republic they want, or a lawless, totalitarian mob rule.
I can't help but believe the left has pushed the pendulum so far to the left, our countries history of reclaiming balance will push that pendulum so far to the right, socialism and political correctness will never again dare raise their ugly heads.
Things are going to get worse before they get better, and people will look around and notice which side has really been the abuser and which side was really trying to protect them from it. Once people are forced by circumstance to become self regulating, they'll understand the freedom that accompanies it. They'll want no part of political correctness and it's soul destroying evil from that day on.The left will finally be bound and thrown into the lake of fire for 1,000 years.

Current use of the term “Progressive” came about when Hilary Clinton and other liberals decided to change the word “liberal” to something else.

They are the same old wrong headed ineffective liberals.

While nobody should be surprised by these peoples disrespect for the rule of law or even their own responsibilities, I’ll admit that even I’m shocked by how blatant they’ve been. The situation has been managed masterfully by Wisconsin republicans, though. I don’t know how they’ll ever manage to work together again even if those coward dems do at some point actually honor their responsibilities.

And their claim of a “War on the Middle Class?” What Middle Class are they talking about? How can their work situation possibly be related to anyone working in the real world? This is a privileged, pampered group, as ditching work for a week and not getting in trouble for it proves.

I don’t understand why their hasn’t been a bigger backlash.

I was thinking about just this topic the other day, and I thought that someday this will be known as the Oil Age. As long as the most venal, backward, and downright mean people on the earth have more money pouring out of the ground than they could ever spend, this crap is bound to happen - has been bound to happen for over sixty years. I partially welcome the collapse. I don’t think I could bear this world and this country continuing down this road to more and more and more repression, this calling of evil good and good evil. Just can’t take it. But I ask myself this: How fat CAN a government get before it collapses under it’s own weight? Answer? We’re fixing to find out.
