What happens when you get a few intellectuals together? You get a few critical shots at things with mass appeal.
Over the last two weeks, Bloomberg Television has been airing the Intelligence Squared debate held in New York City earlier this month with thought leaders like Arianna Huffington, Zev Chafets, P.J. ORourke and New York Times columnist David Brooks.
During this debate, at issue was whether the conflict in political discourse was creating highly polarized political parties. Brooks linked this conflict to Fox News and host Glenn Beck.
I believe in conflict, Im a columnist, conflict is fine with me, Brooks said. And Im fine with that as long as its constructive. The problem is we have parties that dont represent the country. We now have heres a fact from Morris Fiorina, Stanford political scientist: More people own ferrets than watch Fox News.

More people own Unicorns than read David Brooks.
Huh? Many more people watch FOX News every day than read the NY Times every day.
Brooks choose a telling metaphor.
Stick to gerbils, Dave. At least you know them firsthand.
More people saw their toes off and eat them as Hors d’uvres than know who David Brooks is or who care about his opinion.
IF that’s true, then there are more ferret owners than CNN,MSNBC, and all the other news channels combined. Makes for a lot of ferret poop.
David Brooks is no conservative.
He’s an intellectually dishonest, leftist enabling twit.
>>>...other news channels’ VEWIERSHIP combined
David Brooks - the progressive’s poster boy of a good “conservative”.
what about the overlapping set? eh?
people who BOTH own a ferret and watch fox news.
got you there sucker.
More people named their ferrets David Brooks than read his article.
Here is his stream of consciousness:
“The problem is we have parties that dont represent the country. We now have heres a fact from Morris Fiorina, Stanford political scientist: More people own ferrets than watch Fox News.”
And did you know that Joe Biden wears a toup?
Hey David... many more ferret owners use the NYT for cage lining than read the rag... and I’d bet you I’m closer to the truth than you...
RE: “More people saw their toes off and eat them as Hors duvres than know who David Brooks is or who care about his opinion.”

Thanks for the laugh — I’ve been disgusted with David Brooks for a very long time now — this thread has been uplifting!
Wow, cool, I had no idea there were hundreds of millions of ferrets out there.
Looks like he ferreted out that factoid from this article
http://www.vailvalleyinstitute.org/amdiv/Fiorina.html

There were roughly ½ million people on this e-mail list. Now in absolute numbers, thats a big number — 560,000 people. That happens to be the same number of Americans who own ferrets. And since ferrets are illegal in California and in New York City that number is clearly an underestimate. So, in other words, if you go out and pick out a random American voter, the odds are higher that that person owns a ferret than that that person was on Howard Deans e-mail list.

Ferrets have higher IQs than David Brooks.
Which means 10 times as many people own ferrets than read David Brooks.
LOL to both post and tagline.
so its probable most people who own a ferret watch fox news. therefore i think it unlikely that more people own ferrets than watch fox news since that implies that most of the non fox watching public is disproportionately ferret owning.
plus ferret owning is regional, and in those high ferret ownership (also right to work right to ferret states) fox watching is higher than the non ferret NY media market.
statistically speaking of course.
More people have been to the moon...than who know who David Brooks is.
Now that’s funny!
LOL! Given FNC’s ratings, that would mean a whole lot of people own ferrets.
Prhaps he was talking about brain dead liberals that watch it between airings of American Idol, and whatever gay shows are on.
Precisely.
Oh, my! This thread has all the makings of a classic! TOO FUNNY!
Were these people having a contest to see who could say the stupidest thing? Any time you have PJ O’Rourke on a panel show, the cheap jokes are going to overwhelm the real subject. PJ was funny back in his National Lampoon days, but he’s degenerated into a comedian in search of approval. I remember him sucking up to Ball Maher by bashing Rush.
LOL...glad I could bring a smile to someone’s face today. Ridicule is the preferred weapon of Leftists. We should use it against them and see how they like it...:)
This thread just keeps getting funnier! Thanks for the laugh!
LOL!
Come to think of it, he resembles a Ferret more and more every day...
bttt
I believe in conflict, Im a columnist, conflict is fine with me, Brooks said.
And therein lies the problem The MSM, in its lust for profits and look-at-me attitudes, has created most of these conflicts. Biased “reporting” racial pandering “showing both sides” (typically liberal) has created controversy and anger.
Brooks, you and your ilk need to understand. Most people are too busy running normal lives to have to constantly deal with your selfish, self-made “conflicts” Leave them alone, they don’t want your BS in their neighborhoods, on their TVs, in their schools. Get out of their faces, no wonder they’re angry and have had enough. And the nerve of you then to childishly point your finger at them like they’re to blame.
Grow up.
Glad you could ferret that out for us dave. Somebody’s not getting any invites onto FOX!
Pray for America
"You tell 'em 'Ferret Face.'"

To say he is rodent-like is a disservice to rodents, IMO.
More people know what the inside of an elephants butt looks like than what David Brooks face looks like....well, perhaps it’s the same number.
More people used LA Times or NY Times as cat litter paper I know i do LOL!
Anybody is Ferret owner check this out LOL!
Those numbers are as ridiculous as the Corporation for Public Broadcasting claiming that 170M Americans listen to their drivel.
Yeah, stick with gerbils, David. Ferrets can be pretty mean.
