Close Encounters of the Liberal Kind

Today after church I was walking through one of our local parks, and I ran into a friend of mine who happens to be a raving liberal. One of the things I like about this guy is his ability to discuss political issues passionately and listen to a more rational point of view without slipping into violence, or plugging his finger in his ears.

Of course, the discussion quickly veered into politics, and his liberal delusions came quickly to the fore.

Me: What do you think of Obama's new war in Libya?

Him: I'm appalled by it.

Me: Wow. We actually agree on something, then. I can't believe how Obama's got our military supporting Al Qaeda, and how he hasn't even bothered to make any kind of a case that it was in our national security interests, and--

Him: No. I mean I'm appalled at how President Obama got pulled into a war by the greedy military-industrial complex and the Christian right....

That’s awesome!

It really is a mental illness. Their view of reality, and their view of themselves (their self-worth) are wrapped up in things which are simply not true. That’s hard for them to live with, and in order to do so they will hold on to any position (no matter how crazy) in order to justify their worldview.

There is no hope for him unless if he has a near death experience and some how came face to face with God.

I tend to agree with you on that. I remember seeing some video of Yuri Bezmenov, a former KGB agent, talking about how, when people are in a conditioned mindset, they are beyond hope of being reasoned with.

BRAVO SIERRA ALERT ! ! !

Whopping commie lie #1: the author of the article was speaking of Big Sh*tty (NYC) residnets, “The people here are as good as, if not better than, anywhere.”

Commies by any other name Liberal, Progressive, Democrat, ad nauseam - all are still commies.

Everything in there describes not only someone putting their fingers in their ears but putting there hands over their eyes.

0bama could club a 90 year old lady to death and the majority of his supporters would simply say “She had to die sometime, anyway”.

So you’re pimping a second blog now?

Hint: if he posted it in the "Bloggers" section, then by definition, he isn't "pimping" a blog.

There is no such thing as a kind leftist. They are all trash.

Even their children (the surviving ones) are better off being orphaned than being the property of vermin.

I thought about this long and hard - and arrived at the same exact conclusion.

It is very hard to accept - but they have given up reason - on a massive scale - like a mass hysteria.

It is truly bizarre - and inlcudes all of them - including people like my family - a sister Bio-Chem Phd - ok - she was always left - but that didn’t used to mean insane. Now - it does.

I see her once a year. I know not to say anything - but every year, about onc over the course of a weekend - she wil come up with one of these. Two years ago - it was “Bush was allowing solar energy fields in CA and Nevada as a secret conspiracy to buiold coal plants” - I tried to explain tht in a civil eng project of that scale, buidling near rail (and on rail rights of way, etc.) was actually a good idea - that there might be a reason beyond “poison us all with coal!!!!!” - but - nope. As it happens - I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about solar, and proposed some small - 100KW to 2MW type projects - if you know the topic - you know it is all about taxes. Anyeway - I know 10X about solar what she does.

Second was “CA is like 49th state in terms of per student spending” - I mean - come on! A two mouseclick google gives them - right where they shoul dbe - mid pack (combination of big city liberals and farmland areas) - anyone would guess this with any familiraity. 49th?

It is really sick. And scary, when you see it at scale. GZo on linkedin, and register with your college - you will see some bizarre conversations. The Cornell site is full of wackos. With some conservatives - but leftists dominate.

Similar to the Global Warming crowd, the Planned Parenthood Crowd (shouldn't it be called UNPLANNED PARENTHOOD?), and the SAVE THE WHALES crowd.

When I used to argue with liberal relatives I got a lot of blank stares with idiotic grins. Now I don’t speak to liberal relatives.

Something else which shows the lack of irrationality is the inability to see both sides of an argument.

I'm not trying to pat myself on the back (well, maybe a little) but I can generally understand both sides of a conflict -- and then I will tell you which one I believe to be correct.

You want to tell me George W. Bush was a bad president? [shrug] I understand why people say that.
You want to tell me that Republicans tend to spend too much when they get into power? [shrug] Not like Democrats do, but, yeah, I know what you mean.
You want to criticize Iraq? Afghanistan? [shrug] I understand that a case can be made against these wars.

Now, if I'm talking to a Liberal and ask them if they can see why (let's say) some people find the whole birth certificate situation to be ... ummm ... curious -- what happens?
Vitriol. Flying spit. Cries of "Racists!!" Cries of "Liar!!" Cries of "We've see it!!" You can't discuss the issue. They won't entertain the thought. They can't. It threatens the core of their being too much.

Crazy people.
