Shut the People Down (Obama planned to make shutdown worse than it had to be!)

STANDOFF CYNICISM

No one can say that President Barack Obama and his administration weren't thinking of the American people during the budget standoff with Republicans. Their inconvenience was very much on his mind.

According to White House sources, in the weeks leading up to last week's push for a budget deal, the President approved plans that had the White House and federal agencies looking at every federal government resource that entailed public interaction, and whether it could be shut down during a closure of the government -- even if under normal government closures those resources would have or could have remained open.

"The goal was to inflict as much inconvenience and pain on the American public and lock them into supporting the Administration's perspective on the budget fight," says a White House source. "It was our nuclear option, but we saw how a government shutdown under Gingrich just destroyed Republican standing with the public, and we felt we could achieve that kind of damage and more, even if we really didn't have to."

For example, a number of websites that provide the public with information about everything from Social Security options to veterans services, even public-private educational websites operated by the Smithsonian, would have been shut down by the Obama Administration had a government closure taken place Saturday morning. "Those sites don't even involve government employees to operate, but we were going to shut them down anyway just to hit home the right message with the public," says the White House aide.

White House sources say some agencies, like the Smithsonian, which manages a number of the museums and Washington attractions tourists prize most during their visits, pushed back on shutting down the websites, but were overridden by the White House...

I noticed they were going to shut down the Smithsonian which actually brings in revenue. Makes sense to cut income in a budget crisis.

During the Clinton Admin. budget shutdown, the PCS frequency bandwidth auctions were halted even though they would eventually bring in enough money to help put the budget in the black. Businesses were waiting to roll on next gen cell phones and people wanted to buy, but Clinton shut 'er down and the Repubs were blamed.

With Obama going around incredibly un-leader-like, telling us “better get your money back from that Yellowstone vacation, hyuk, hyuk, hyuk” while he’s out of the friggin’ golf course every day....I believe this completely.

Whenever an entity that relies on a tax payer revenue stream must cut its budget, logic dictates that cuts be implemented in a manner that directly effects the broadest possible number of taxpayers.

They will lay off the fire department and watch your house burn down before firing a gay guidance counselor.

It is tried and true strategy. Works every time.

For this reason people should be in jail. But criminals like Clinton wasn’t put in jail when we had all three branches of government. How could we expect anything different now.

I should add that in dangerous cities loaded with recently released savages due to budgetary constraints... with firearm provisions preventing the average person from obtaining the physical means to defend self...

They lay off the Police first.

How long can we as Americans take a President and administration that outright wants to punish us? This is surreal.

It takes so long to awaken today’s Americans.

When we begin to realize that America resembles Madrid in 1936, excepting here the Soviet Union’s participation has been replaced by the United Nations, then there may be a slim chance to defeat the usurpers.

Lest we forget that this is the “never let a crisis go to waste” administration.

That means, basically, he welcomes pain and hardship for Americans as long as he gets some advantage out of it. It’s easily the most cynical and evil statement to come out of the executive branch in 150 years.

I’ve been through a couple of government shutdowns and this one was shaping up to be very different, implementation wise than the others. We were told we couldn’t use our blackberrys or check email. That didn’t happen before. Also, our contractor continued to work and “essential” government employees were those needed to support the contractor work. This time the contractor was going to be shut down too.

Not sure who makes up the rules for these furloughs, it did seem odd the level of detail(or lack of latitude) they were giving to individual agencies...especially in the designation of essential personnel.

I don't expect the Kenyan freeloader to understand that he and the rest of these Washington clowns work FOR US. This is just further proof that Obama fancies himself a dictator. It's time for someone in DC to do the right thing and impeach this SOB.

The time for impeachment was 1 minute after Zero took the oath of office.
