Donald Trump’s Donations to Democrats
Patriot Update ^ | 4/13/2011

(...)

In all, Trump has contributed to 96 candidates running for federal political office since the 1990 election cycle, the Center finds. Only 48 of the recipients — exactly half — were Republicans at the time they received their contribution, including ex-Gov. Charlie Crist (I-Fla.) and ex-Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.), who both of whom received their Trump contributions as Republicans.

Since the 1990 election cycle, the top 10 recipients of Trump’s political contributions number six Democrats and four Republicans. Embattled Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.), who was censured last year by his U.S. House colleagues, has received the most Trump money, totaling $24,750. The most recent contribution from Trump to Rangel was a $10,000 gift during the 2006 election cycle.

The top Republican recipient of Trump’s money is Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) who has collected $13,600 from the billionaire magnate, the second most of any politician. Trump did not contribute to McCain during the 2010 election cycle, during which the former presidential candidate was facing re-election.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has received the fourth-largest amount of Trump’s contributions, including $4,800 in the successful 2010 campaign against Tea Party favorite Sharron Angle. In total Trump has contributed $10,400 to Reid.

However, of the nearly $420,000 Trump has donated to committees, the largest recipient has been the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee with $116,000 — or more than one fourth of his total contributions to all party and political action committees.

Trump seems to be positioning himself to split the anti-Obama vote by grabbing some of the conservative groups, and thus guaranteeing Obama victory in 2012.

It’s an old ‘rat trick.

I saw the donor list earlier. Not only did he give lots of money to Democrats, but almost all of the Republicans he gave to were RINOs. Specter and Crist are typical.

That is the sign of a very smart businessman. He bought all the politicians available for sale who would not then throw roadblocks in his path to success.

If I was running a multi-Billion dollar business, I would do exactly the same thing. And I am to the right of Attila the Hun on most issues.

Ah but he's a birther so none of this matters. Or someone here will find a way to explain it away...

I think you’re correct. It is the only way I can see Obama winning a second term, and it’s in line with his usual modus operandi of eliminating the competition. In this case diluting the competition, or peroting the competition if you will.

Trump is in bed with too many Dems to be trusted. He makes a great show, but isn’t trustworthy anymore than any other major RINO.

Fred Robinson will have to ban threads on Trump and Romney pretty soon.

Trump strikes me as political thermite. He’ll burn hot and bright for a very short while and in no time all that will be left of this chapter is slag.

Trump is a master of drawing attention to himself. This “political” fancy of his is no more enduring than Fred Thompson’s was.

Just like Ross Perot! Re the Donald and the Birther issue..you all must read from The Post and Email “Is Obama Ineligibility a Side Show or the Main Event” by J.B.Williams. Look for it in Free Republic.

I have a feeling if Trump wasn't a birther people here wouldn't so easily accept this. Mitt Romney gets raked over the coals for his flip flops but it's A OK that Trump has given $$$ to Dems like Harry Reid , Chuck Schumer and Anthony Weiner? And that in 2007 he said George W Bush was the worst president ever? I'm with Mark Levin - Trump is a two trick pony. Birther and China basher.

Here’s an article about Bishop Romney’s in-kind contribution to the Obama 2012 campaign:

This contribution is probably worth at least a billion dollars.

Well this is one person who doesn't want a corporatist for President. And I certainly don't want someone running for the GOP nomination who has indicated they will run 3rd party if they don't get the nomination. What evidence do we have that Trump will be conservative if elected? Right now he's just saying what the base/tea party wants to hear. And throwing in a bit of populism for good measure. Don't forget back in the 90s Trump was flirting with Jesse Ventura and the reform party. Also during that time he advocated a one-time 14.25% 'wealth tax'. What the hell is conservative about that?

Yeah, that all could be. It’s just lame to make anything out of his contributions to candidates. That’s business.

He also donated to Tom Coburn.

That doesn’t make him a rabid right-winger anymore than donating to Democrats makes him a leftist.

Businesses donate to both sides, often times moreso to candidates and/or parties that represent areas they have business interests in. Since most of Trump’s business interests are in NYC, Chicago, Vegas, etc...that’s what he’s gonna do.

Like I wrote in my previous post, as a very smart businessman Trump will buy any politician available for sale. Trump is not running RNC, owes nothing to GOP. He invests his money for business success and contributing to politicians of all stripes in NY state is what he has to do to avoid boulders thrown in his path to success.

In case you have not noticed, most politicians in NY state are democrats. That is where Trump has his base operation, in NY.
