I did see some articles a month or two ago that said $4.00 a gallon would drive the economy into a full-fledged depression. Just saying.
Yeah, I’m sure Obama and his cronies just luv the idea of people forced into Soviet-style communal arrangements. Kinda like when Dr. Zhivago got to share his house (in the like named movie).
My household has certainly felt the pain of all this. We’ve been dealing with unemployment issues for the last 2 years and have been forced to file Chapter 13 bankruptcy. I did everything I could to avoid it, it has decimated our retirement savings. At 51 years old, I find myself very worried about our future.
Yep. I agree with you. I just don’t see this as an issue that’ll rouse us to riot so long as the price rise is gradual enough.
That said, if the dollar was as strong as it was back in 2000... then gas would only cost around $1.85/gallon. Our dollar has lost over half it’s value in eleven years.
If a Republican was in office the pess would be having one sadsack news item after another. Since is it a communist in office they show nothing.
My family used to do the Kerosene heater thing in the winter time, all huddled in one room. Blocking off a room with even some sheets does wonders. I have a section of my kitchen and furnace room that can accomodate.
We are 52 and 53...feeling the stress, too.
No concern for those in apartments and such, of course.
Wood is a local resource that gets depleted very quickly. When I talk to people who have months of stored food, they still express a concern over food costs growing beyond a concievable budget.
Very few preparations are permanent.
