Obama’s Rush to Announce the Death of bin Laden Will Prove Costly
Canada Free Press ^ | May 4, 2011 | Al Kaltman

Posted on 05/05/2011 5:06:33 AM PDT by Zakeet

President Obama deserves a great deal of credit for authorizing SEAL Team 6 to take out Osama bin Laden. While some Americans have been outraged by his self-congratulatory pronouncements, most have been so delighted that bin Laden finally got what he deserved that they seem willing not to notice that instead of heaping praise on the men and women of our intelligence services and the military who are the real heroes of this story, Obama acts as if he did everything himself, everything that is except pull the trigger. One can forgive the President for self aggrandizement. Obama is a politician, and the death of bin Laden has given his approval rating a much needed boost in the polls.

What one cannot forgive Obama for is placing politics ahead of national security. In his rush to take credit for killing bin Laden, Obama prematurely released that fact that bin Laden was dead, and that is disgraceful. The data gathered at bin Laden’s residence has been described as a “treasure trove” and even “the mother lode” of intelligence. But as anyone who has worked in intelligence knows, all such data is time sensitive, and as soon as the enemy knows you have the data it becomes much less valuable, and in many instances even useless.

[Snip]

While some of the intelligence gathered at bin Laden’s home will still undoubtedly be useful, so much more could have been achieved if the President hadn’t been in such a hurry to make political hay. ... The fact that we threw away a wonderful opportunity to put an end to Al Qaeda because Obama couldn’t wait to announce his death is what is so terribly sad.

The Pakistanis knew he was dead or captured. Therefore Al Qaeda knew he was dead or captured. Unless you accept the Pakistani story that they had no idea who was living in the compound and have no contact with Al Qaeda.

The author of this piece is wrong....at least about the statement above.

Today, May 5th, 2011, Rasmussen has the stain's "Total Approval" rating at 48%....exactly where it's been since mid year, 2009.

If this total approval rating does not fall - AND REMAIN - below 35%, the stain will be re-elected in 2012.

The alleged killing of bin laden actually did nothing at all for the stain's approval rating.

Great photo -— This removes all uncertainty. Obama was truly large and in charge kinda like the way JayZee is in the rap world

Exactly! He should have given credit to the TEAM effort that included Bush, intelligence guys, and most importantly the brave men that carried out the mission. Can you spell narcissistic?

Good point about keeping it quiet. Most of the enemy doesn’t believe it anyway.

Our inexperienced, unprepared President bungled another one.

Everything Obama’s regime does is made with a political calculation - PERIOD! If you remember, that this all makes sense.

None of this was about getting OBL - it was about BHO political future.

Agreed! He never once thought of the safety of the American people, not even "his People." It was always about political gain.

If we had kept our mouth shut about the death and the intel, there would have been a period of ambiguity that could have been exploited. The confusion itself may have helped us as operatives rushed to make contacts and clarify information.

We have never had a bigger A$$ as Commander-In-Chief.

Does someone really deserve a lot of credit and praise for doing the right thing or the thing they are expected to do as part of their job? It was his duty to give this order and he honored his duty. Possibly he did it more out of duty to self then duty to country. Yet, he ordered it, the troops were successful in carrying out the mission and the country is glad about it. Though just because he acted correctly this time, doesn’t make him correct about the rest of his agenda. A broken clock is still correct twice a day.

WASHINGTON - George W. Bush won’t be at Ground Zero with President Obama Thursday in part because he feels his team is getting short shrift in the decade-long manhunt for Osama Bin Laden.

“[Bush] viewed this as an Obama victory lap,” a highly-placed source told the Daily News Wednesday.

Correct, and Bush’s presence at GZ would be touted as approval
of Ubama’s actions. GW is quite a bit smarter than this third
world bungling idiot.

His top men went around him since he wouldn’t get off his ass. Also, Jarret (sp) was getting in the way of progress. They planned the whole thing and kept him totally out of it for good reasons.

Thank the real men who planned it and those who risked their lives.

From what I understand, the raid was being posted on the internet AS IT WAS HAPPENING by some amateur who saw it going on from not so far away. Didn’t Rumsfeld say something before bammy did?

I have read this article at a number of sources.

The only thing that does not ring true is that Jim Clapper is in the loop.

C’mon, this guy is more clueless than Obama.

Clinton, Gates and the military wouldn’t trust this guy to get them Chinese takeout.

From some of the stories on the data that is leaking out about this op (and let me say first that none have been confirmed but it does fit a profile of his admin and general liberal mindset) BHO had to be dragged to action, with Valerie Jarrett poo-pooing it all they way.

It think it was explained/insisted to him that the leaking of an in-action on this intel was more damaging than authorizing a mission that failed or perhaps had US KIA’s or injured. Ultimately, decision based on which had best odds of increasing his chance for re-election. And as you correctly stated the American people, especially our extraordinary military and intelligence groups, were never in the consideration.
