In the last several months there has not been a solid frontrunner in Republican polls for the 2012 nomination. While Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney have been near the top, neither has been dominant.
Donald Trump was able to surge last month, although where his polls go now is unclear. With much of the attention reverting away from him, he may see a dip in his vote share.
And it appears that may have already happened-- and Sarah Palin has picked up the slack. Palin has reduced her profile over the last several months, cutting back on public speaking events. Many supporters appeared to move towards Minnesota Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann.
Now, in the newest Quinnipiac poll, it appears that the former Alaska Governor has received a new boost in support.
Romney: 18% Palin: 15% Huckabee: 15% Trump: 12%

America Needs a Margaret Thatcher. Go Sara.
These polls are useless at this stage. They are historically poor predictors of what will happen, and they reflect little of any importance, but rather just name recognition, in such a potentially crowded fields, especially when the “headliners” haven’t even entered the race (or announced that they’re not going to).
Onslaught of the Mommy Grizzlies
Imagine a President who doesn’t agitate and create chaos, who believes in America’s exceptionalism and entreprenerual spirit, smaller government, good stewardship of taxpayer dollars, an original American born natural citizen with an original birth certificate, who doesn’t ‘pussyfoot’ around or dither, who wasn’t raised Muslim in Islamic countries, who would protect our way of life instead of bowing to Muslim kings...
Her name is Sarah Palin.
do they hand out no-doz at the door for mitt yawnmey events??
If you want to find the best person for America, look
at the one the Marxist ridicule the most.
And John Bolton as U.N. ambassador.
I agree, and I also think poll numbers alone are always questionable unless the reader knows how the questions were framed.
I don't think anyone anywhere can generate the enthusiasm that Sarah Palin will once she enters the race in earnest. That kind of poll cannot be manipulated.
I agree completely.
Margaret Thatcher would never have debased herself by doing reality TV with “Kate Plus 8.”
I'm torn - Bolton for UN Ambassador and Liz Cheney for SoS, or the other way around?
see my tagline....
From the same poll, the devil is in the details;
Percentage who would never vote for each candidate
Total of (Enthusiastic + Consider) / Never Vote For
Maggie couldn't and wouldn't kill a caribou and butcher it while the blood is still warm, either. Sarah is a different person, with different traditions. She will be a great President.
LOL - there are so many great possibilities!
President of what? The Jersey Shore? She’s a reality TV celebrity, no different than Trump except she has better hair.
Maybe she isn’t pretending to be Margaret Thatcher. And if you saw the episode,,, you saw Sarah being a strong admirable woman, trying to show the ubiquitious modern Ameritwit female how to show a little backbone.
But maybe you’re right. Sarah should have taken that buffoon Romney out there instead. That woulda been good for a few laughs to watch her show up his metrosexual butt out there.
This is actually a drop of 4 points for Palin from the previous poll by the same outfit. As bad as it is to use polls as predictors this far out, it is even worse to use results from two different pollsters to try to claim a trend. And anyone touting this poll should also have to acknowledge the results showing that 58% of Americans would never vote for Palin under any circumstances.
So who would be the REAL deal? Romney the investment bankering insider, the draft dodger who flip flops on abortion, permanently bans assault rifles, and thinks the government has a right to force you to buy healthcare?
In one post,, you utterly solved every problem. It’s maddening,,, the solution is right there for the taking.
“Shes a reality TV celebrity”
As opposed to Reagan, who wasn’t?? Please. You’re grasping for a reason to hate her.
Yes! Patriotic pride and gas-punp pain both surging, who ya gonna vote for?
Only a moron would say something like that. She was the Vice Presidential nominee when no one knew her, besides being a successful Governor and Mayor. Her success has nothing to do with any television shows.
Sure, Reagan was an actor. Of course, he didn't work as an actor for roughly 15-years before he became president. And, what did he do in those intervening 15-years? Well (as he would say), he only ran the most populated state in the union, a state that at the time was the 4th largest economy on the planet.
Palin, OTOH, ran a state that would be California's 5th most populous city. Reagan to Palin is apples to oranges. There is no comparison, whatsoever. One had gravitas by the truckload, one doesn't have it by the thimble.
Fight like a GRRRRRRRL!
Like the menacing growl of a grizzly....
You're going to get banned, you know. According to Jim Roblinson, "FreeRepublic is Palin Country," and it's only a matter of time before your irrational hatred makes you cross the line. Personally, I can't wait.
You sure can. When you accomplish more than most Governors do in less time, you are successful. Highly successful. When you leave your state with a huge surplus of money,in the billions, while 48 others are in the red and begging for Federal stimulus money, you are successful.Just on this issue alone anyone would admit her administration was highly successful. All anyone has to do is take a look at her long list of accomplishments as Governor to see just how successful she was.
I’d put her accomplishments as Governor up against any of the pretenders running against her.
Have bumped Sarah up from my “NEVER GOING TO RUN ACTUALLY” category to “FOREVER THINKING ABOUT IT” category, to now “FLIRT, FLIRT, FLIRT” category. If the visit to Israel and the Star of David necklace pays off for her among the religious and in the Jewish cash category, that’s a bump, and if the recent purchase of a consultant for matters of Foreign Policy and her recent FP speech attracts anyone outside of that audience, that would be a bump.
But if she can’t get her negatives down beyond her somewhat shrinking Republican base it’s a big sweat for nothing. Newt in a debate will shrink the field in knowledge, reason, political experience and Independents will be all ears. You know, the ones who will elect the next prez.
This is what passes for intellectual discourse in the mind of a Palin sycophant. Pathetic, but not unexpected.
I am not a “Newtie” at this early stage, but candidates better be braced with more than a tutor on every matter of state. Just sayin’.
I guess if you’re living in Outer Space...your view of Sarah would be somewhat skewed...try coming back to earth.
Let's say argumentum that she was the most successful 29-month governor in the history of governors. Do you think mildly curious independents and downright disengaged moderate Republicans and Democrats - the people who actually elect presidents in this country - are going to give her record the careful examination that you believe it deserves, or do you think that they'll just see a lady who quit her day job to host a reality show and write a couple books?
The optics of how this will be portrayed are clear to anyone with just a passing interest in politics. The opposition's campaign commercials will write themselves, and they'll be devastating.
58% of the country didn't say they'll never vote for her for no reason - her quitting was one of the reasons, and her success as governor, however great it may have been, will be lost in the political narrative.
That's her political reality.
That is a lie, and you have PDS. She has years of successful government executive experience. You already knew that, but want to bitch about Palin anyway.
You are clearly to ignorant to even involve yourself in political discussions, you need to study and start paying attention.
Right, so popular that Alaskans think this about her now...
Any other fantasies you'd like to share?
2012 election will be about the inter-related connectiveness of the following:
ONLY Sarah has the insight into all OF these and how they are ALL RELATED.
Ah... a primer on "reality" from the numbskull who stated yesterday that anyone who feels that Sarah Palin influenced the GOP Revolution of 2010 is "delusional."
Your own ignorance precludes you having anything meaningful to say about anyone's "reality," much less one of your betters. When you have acheived in your entire lifetime what Palin did in half a term as Governor, before falling on her sabre for the good of her constituents, then maybe, just maybe, you'll have earned a seat at that table.
Until then you're just another sour-grapes, bigmouthed, woman hating tinkerbell.
Is exactly what I would expect someone like you to say - short on substance, long on personal insult.
