The ever-changing narrative from the White House about the U.S. mission to kill Osama bin Laden has shed some doubt on the events that took place that historic day, and thats not the way the government should have handled such a historic moment argues National Journals Major Garrett.
In an appearance on MSNBCs Morning Joe on Friday, Garrett explained how the White House went wrong in the days after President Barack Obamas late Sunday night announcement.
One quick point about that, Garrett said. I believe the administration should be justifiably criticized for the ham-handed nature of telling this story. This is the most serious military operation this administration has engaged in in a decade. It should be told once with precision and clarity for everyone. And they didnt do that and its their fault.
The former Fox News Channel White House correspondent said if it had taken time to get the story straight for the public, then it should have taken that time and dispense facts, not build a narrative.
Thats not a partisan statement at all, he said. This is a responsibility of the government to explain what happened and if it takes time to make that explanation, and if takes time to build a and not a narrative, Im sorry. I resent that phrase, entirely. These are facts. Governments dispense facts or should, not narratives. And the time should have been taken to put the facts together and explain them once.
Morning Joe co-host Willie Geist agreed with Garretts assessment.
And its not a story that needs embellishing, Geist said. Thats the shame of it. Just get the story out there. Its impressive enough on its own.
They’re amateurs & liars. What do you expect?
Instead of dispensing the facts and letting other forces define the moment for them as most true leaders would, they want to control it and define it themselves.
Power gluttons.
Ummmmmmmmm ... hello?
And it detracts from the *EXCELLENT* job the Navy Seals did in completing this mission. I thought all of that delay on the night of the announcement was so they could get it “right”..... apparently NOT!!
Doesn’t he know the phrase “ham-handed” is offensive to Muslims?
I’m starting to think that they are bungling the “official story” to intentionally cause conspiracy theories.
What better way to further divide us?
Is Garrett over at MSNBC now?
I've had the same thought. Obama seems to delight in ambiguity, concealment and deliberately fostering conflict.
I think that we can safely say that Major won’t be invited back on Morning Joke!
Its the Birth Certificate group all over again. Lying is their ONLY method of operating. The truth would derail them in every case.
I'm not worried. The next election will have little to do with Osama Bin Obama and a lot to do with a VERY sh!tty economy.
This just illustrates the difference between operations run by the grown-ups at the CIA vs. the amateurs at the White House.
How could a President shoot so quickly from the hip?
The only conclusion I can come up with is “politics”.
Obama doesn't have to show UBL’s picture he's done enough damage on his own to the security of our Military and our Country.
JMHO
“Ham Handed”?
This is sure to offend the Muslims.
I sure wish the media would be more aware of muslim sensibility’s when reporting the news. /s
“ham handed”? LoL! That’s funny as **** right there!
It feels like it.
EPIC FAIL!
That show has turned into a gab fest of the same quality as "The View".
Another show conservatives need to boycott.
Barry’s hitting a new low when PMSNBC has criticism of him.
