Ohio Restaurant Closes One Week After Obama Mentions it in Speech

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio restaurant mentioned last week by President Barack Obama as an indirect beneficiary of the government’s Chrysler bailout will go out of business Sunday after a more than 70-year history.

Co-owner Richard Lawrence of New Chet’s Restaurant in Toledo says business has fallen victim to the economy and the workplace smoking ban approved by Ohio voters in 2006. He told The Blade newspaper of Toledo on Wednesday that auto industry cutbacks also hurt.

Lawrence says he used to deliver up to $300 in food per week to Chrysler Group LLC’s Jeep plant in Toledo, but now that’s down to about $100 worth.

Obama visited the plant on Friday and told workers that without them, who would eat at Chet’s or patronize other local businesses?

“And this plant indirectly supports hundreds of other jobs right here in Toledo,” President Obama said to hundreds of workers in Chrysler’s Wrangler plant. ”After all, without you, who‘d eat at Chet’s or Inky‘s or Rudy’s?”

You can bet your @ss if this had happened to Bush, it would have been major news for days.

If Republicans had some savvy, they would film a commercial showing Ohioan Joe the plumber Wurzelbacher standing in front of this place. I'll even write the script for them if they need it.

Sounds like a marginal operation even in good times. Unless you are just selling out of a cart, $300 a week is pittance.

The only way I would go into that restaurant after obama put a plug in for it is that if someone had a gun to my back.

It was a restaurant that managed to stay open for 70 years. I’d say they had a pretty good business model. It took King anti-Midas and his magical economy to finally kill them off.

Is this the same restaurant where he “wolfed down” two chili dogs, fries, and a bowl of chili?

That is a good point. I wonder too, who -quit- going there when Sadim Gink (The inverted King Midas) mentioned them. Being endorsed by those who are profoundly unpopular is not necessarily a good thing.

Horrors! Is that even on the new pie chart?
I bet the minute Mr. Big Man gets out of Michelle’s sight he is cruising to the nearest burger joint.

Another EPIC FAIL for Obama.

And yet another reason to despise the State Run Media that installed him into office and won't repudiate him.

Yeah, I have always noticed the MSM’s proclivity to use phrases liked “wolfed down”, which is meant to suggest that
supernatural beings like Obama are on some accelerated schedule of ‘purpose’ ——the same way these pathetic ‘reporters’ were always reporting on Clinton’s
‘gargantuan appetities’. Let’s hope these conceits are on the way out.
