It's easy to blame the parents (parent in many cases), but they are up against a culture that celebrates depravity. Look at how girls dress for school, look at stores that cater to teens (A&F for example). They push looking “sexy” on young teens. Even young girls are encouraged to dress sexy. Schools provide daycare for students’ babies. When I was in school that was unheard of. Now it is expected that many high school (and often middle school) girls will become pregnant. Schools hand out birth control. My schools handed out aspirins. Look at TV shows aimed at teens and see how sex is expected (and often homosexual sex) and treated as normal. And formerly well-respected colleges now have live sex shows and “sex week”, promote homosexuality and anything-goes sex. “Hooking up” has replaced dating and getting to know someone. If we don't embrace the homosexual experience, we are “homophobic” or “bigots”. A tiny minority of sexual deviants have been able to infiltrate schools and promote sexualization of children. Last night on Hannity a liberal woman was arguing with Sean about how it was the “community's” business to ask 12 year old students about their oral sex habits and birth control of choice! Tell me, exactly how does a parent fight back? And yes, home school is one way, but certainly not available to all. I see our nation falling into the dustbin of history in the near future.
The column clearly points out that our entire culture is “toast” and has been for quite some time. The public education system, “entertainment,” Hollywood, music, and the media are all culpable in pushing cultural rot.
The column does not place the blame solely on parents, although they are also culpable in—among other things—allowing the education system to be completely invaded by degenerate socialists and, in many cases, letting the schools and television raise their children for them.
