DAMN TLC for their couponing show.

Stupid show. Now people think they can show up at the cash register with three full shopping carts and buy it all for nothing. In reality, many of the coupons are not correct. So what happens? The deals get nixed and you just spent HOURS wasting your time. I usually get my stuff in quantities of less than a $100 value at a time.

Without doubling, most coupons are worthless, because even with the discounted price the store brand of the item is almost always cheaper.

Not when you combine store coupons with manufacturer's coupons. Also when you use coupons on each item of a BOGO sale. Bayer Extra Strength 20 count aspirins sell for $3.49. Combine the $2.00 manufacturer's coupon with the $2.00 Publix coupon and you just got yourself the aspirin for FREE and a MM.

What irks me is that El Nuevo Herald down here sells on Saturday for only 50 cents. They claim to have all the Sunday coupons but at least in Broward County they have a grand total of ZERO coupons. I would actually buy a lot of copies IF they had the coupons they claim to have which is supposedly the Sunday coupons. Irritates the hell out of me to see that claim about the coupons and when you look inside...NO coupons.

Yeah, I dunno what PJ does with all of his overage. I'd like to think that some good comes of it.

If others knew it could set off a revolution which is why I am keeping that detail to myself. Anyway as to "hoarding," I keep it under control. Right now have about a 6 month supply of both coffee and marinade. My wife gave away most of our vast canned tuna fish supply without thinking that the REASON I hoarded so many was because we were entering hurricane season and needed an emergency supply of canned food. Now have to restock that again.

No doubt, but the two major store chains here Giant of Landover, MD and Safeway rarely offer store coupons. You'd think even the lesser-established chains like Weis, Food Lion and Super Fresh would be more generous but in all the circulars we get, we find very few deals. Maybe it is just something about this area? Who knows.

Now granted, we only use coupons we get for free, we do not pay for a newspaper because we hate the MSM in all its forms (the Washington Compost and Baltimore Sun here) so maybe we are missing out.

Well, I would be willing to pay for multiple copies of the Saturday El Nuevo Herald since it is only 50 cents and SUPPOSEDLY has all the Sunday coupons. THEY LIE. At least here in Broward County, that newspaper has NO coupons. I actually would be willing to buy up to a hundred copies IF they had the coupons they claim they have.

To be fair to Safeway in this area though, their loyalty card discounts on their store brand products can be quite generous. I bought recently bought 8 fairly large boxes of cereal (we mixed and matched so it was a different quantity in each box) for under $12.

I live in the west now and there is no double coupons except Albertsons has 3 double coupons once a week, but their stuff is so pricey that it makes no sense to even use the coupons...

but back when we lived in upstate NY while hubby was in the AF, the stores outside the base would have double and triple coupons....that was fun....
