The New Barbarians of Secession

When secession finally occurs in the first American state, it will come first from the New Barbarians, not from the state house.

This article explores the definition of the word “Barbarian,” and how I perceive that secession will be moved forward into reality by the New Barbarians.

I am one of the New Barbarians.

From Wikipedia: “Barbarian” is a pejorative term used to refer to a person who is perceived to be uncivilized. The word is often used either in a general reference to a member of a nation or ethnos, typically a tribal society as seen by an urban civilization either viewed as inferior, or admired as a noble savage. In idiomatic or figurative usage, a “barbarian” may also be an individual reference to a brutal, cruel, warlike, insensitive person. The primary function of the word “barbarian”, and its cognates, is to differentiate members of one’s own society from people perceived as being outside of it, and to posit that one’s own culture is superior.

In history, the Barbarians were the Germanic tribes that overthrew the Roman Empire. Rome had become an empire covering most of Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, and the cost of their armies and wars was bankrupting the government. Rome had conquered these vast areas, and conscripted many of the tribal warriors into the Roman armies. But the barbarians never lost their identification with their tribes, and eventually the Visigoths sacked Rome in 410 AD.

The present American society’s elected ruling class is filled with “the cream” of our civilization from bottom to top. But smelling of cologne and wearing expensive suits, they pillage, sack and destroy our free enterprise system through taxation and regulation. So they operate like barbarians under the cover of respectability and the citizens’ acceptance of their roles in the American government. They are the old guard, much like Rome at its end. Bloated, corrupt and hopelessly overextended, the ruling class can see their demise just over the horizon. But they cannot wrap their brains around a solution that includes the breaking apart of the United States of America by secession.

You think that the power structure of Washington doesn’t see the end coming fast? Watch this video from Ready.gov, a division of FEMA.

Dear readers, that “world upside down” video is not just about a tornado or hurricane. It is easy to see how this Public Service Announcement is meant for the coming economic collapse. If the very government causing all of this chaos is telling you openly to prepare for disaster, perhaps you should listen? There is another Ready.gov PSA I just saw in the past few days that is not available to post quite yet. It features a husband and wife being interviewed about how much food they have in the house to survive on in an emergency. They very matter-of-factly state that they have a little rice, some beans, a few cans of tuna, and some canned tomatoes. They seemed blithely unconcerned.

Do you still believe that the ruling class in any state government will voluntarily band together and secede from the Union? Think about all of the ways that Washington taxes and spends. Now consider that most of that taxation and spending is entirely unconstitutional. Now consider that Washington taxes and then sends hundreds of billions of dollars back to the state governments annually so the money can be spent on the local level. From roads to public safety to welfare payments to mortgage guarantees to myriad other programs, your state and local governments are complicit in the crimes of Washington. They are accessories after the fact. If someone steals property and you receive it, you’re as guilty as the perpetrator.

It is impossible for Washington to do what it does without the voluntary cooperation of the 50 state governments. Do not kid yourself. What the states do is entirely voluntary. The state politicians might bitch about unfunded mandates or DC regulations or Supreme Court rulings, but states have ALL the power to resist or just simply stop the Washington madness. But the states do not stop it. What does that tell you?

The ruling class, from bottom to top, cannot fix America. Consider:

1. They cannot forsake fractional reserve banking (counterfeiting). 2. They cannot reign in spending because of entitlement programs. 3. They cannot increase interest rates to curb inflation since that would make the debt payments balloon upward. 4. They cannot stop allowing the Federal Reserve to control the money supply (more counterfeiting). 5. They cannot fund the outstanding and future pension commitments, and cannot cover the pension defaults. 6. They cannot stop selling Treasury bonds to borrow more money, and cannot prevent the inevitable default of the bond market. 7. They cannot cease military expansion and war. 8. They cannot prevent the collapse of the US Dollar as world reserve currency. 9. They reject free-market solutions for all problems, and continue to fiercely defend Keynesian economics. 10. States are so inured to Federal funds that they are unwilling to even try to control Washington.

Witness all the cities, townships, counties and states that are functionally bankrupt. They can thank their betters in Washington for a fiat money system and decades of inflation for their present situation. And they can look in the mirror to see who enabled Washington to become the most criminal government in history. Yes…even more criminal than the USSR. The Soviets did not defraud the entire population of the planet with fiat money. Washington did.

The concept of state secession will have to come from the grassroots…the ordinary people…the great unwashed…the New Barbarians. Politicians are not leaders. My opinion is that a person cannot voluntarily agree to work in a criminal enterprise without becoming a criminal. (Ron Paul, call your office.) And while we all love a story of a bad boy turned good…or of a missionary to the heathen…we cannot expect government shills to voluntarily bite the hand that feeds them and promote a philosophically opposite concept. A few solons might get religion about secession, but I believe that most will oppose it. And the ones that do convert to the church of secession should be watched very carefully, since it would appear that they are simply trying to lead a new parade by running out in front of it. If a politician wanted to convince me of his altered beliefs, let him switch to secession now…while it’s still wildly unpopular.

The New Barbarians will develop as a tribe, rising voluntarily from the citizenry, with individual liberty, property rights and sound money as the organizing and sustaining principles of the tribe. (I wrote about tribes HERE.) For the purpose of this article, the word “tribe” is defined as “a social group comprised of numerous families, clans, or generations together with dependents or adopted strangers, all having a common character, occupation, or interest.” I am not suggesting that the New Barbarians will adopt all the characteristics of tribes. But I am suggesting that the New Barbarians will forsake the old ways of the US Constitution, and begin thinking as a single nation instead of a 50-state confederation. Most of the Constitution doesn’t apply to a single sovereign nation.

Think about secession for just a moment. There is no perceivable benefit for ANY present American state to continue as a member of the United States of America. I issued a challenge long ago for any reader to prove JUST ONE benefit of statehood. I’m still waiting. Yet, ALL of the unsolvable problems created by Washington and enabled by the States EVAPORATE at the moment of secession. No US taxation, no US regulation, no US national debt, no US wars, no more interference from Washington. In one instant, that state’s hard drive is wiped clean and they get to invent THEIR OWN new operating system.

The Founding Fathers of the mid-18th Century were the New Barbarians of their time. Their numbers were small. Their cause was individual liberty and property rights, and to be thirteen sovereign nations. Only 56 men signed the Declaration of Independence. It’s commonly accepted that those in favor of throwing off the tyranny of King George numbered less than 10% of the population of the 13 colonies. The rest of the colonials waited to see who won, and supported the winner.

The archetype of the New Barbarian is Daniel Miller, president of the Texas Nationalist Movement. Miller has been working for years for Texas Independence, not as a cause célèbre, but as a holy calling. He is a businessman from Nederland, Texas, dedicated to convincing his fellow Texans that their state’s highest purpose is as a new sovereign nation, not as just another American state. He crisscrosses Texas, speaking to home meetings as well as big crowds, reminding Texans of their heritage and culture, and offering the hope that Texas could actually escape from America and its coming catastrophic collapse and become a nation once again. In my opinion, the name of Daniel Miller should be at the very top of any list of potential first Presidents of a new Texas nation. Guys like Rick Perry and Ron Paul have careers as part of the problem, not as part of the solution.

The numbers of New Barbarians will explode after the economic collapse in America. There are only a few of us that are presently ideologues promoting secession. But once America descends into chaos, those that rejected the concept of secession will still be looking for answers that work…not more of the same. And they will be desperate, not willing or able to wait for government to offer some lame-assed pseudo-solution, or another Ponzi scheme to replace the one that just collapsed. At that point, the tribe will grow very quickly. Mass migrations of people will occur, as individuals and families pack up and move to the new nations.

One of the topics that most proponents of secession will not talk about is defending a secession by militia. I’m not saying that secession has to be done by some form of physical force, but I’m also not saying that military defense won’t be required. I keep the collapse of the Soviet Union foremost in my mind. Here was a purely communist 15-republic Union that simply dissolved in 1989. The giant Red Army did nothing. The Kremlin was powerless to stop secession. I believe that Washington will likewise be powerless to stop American states from secession. But I believe that DC will only be powerless after the dollar collapses.

The push for secession will come up from the people, not down from the politicians. Political power only acknowledges superior force. If the politicians fear the People, they will carry out the will of the People. When the People fear the government, there is only tyranny.

Secession is the only hope for humanity. Who will be first?

Rather than secession, we should try nullification first.

Are you??? Because I didn’t intend my analysis to be a joke...

You and the other middle-grounders may find iteasy behind the anonymity of your keyboard there to scoff at the potential problems arising from a secessionist atmosphere...And you insolt the peolpe who are amiable to the concept, yet you still have no solution to the issue...

I was only pointing out that you do not wish to have any part of a potential change that might very well be the only real option some people believe in, or at least entertain...

I stated that I do my dirty work within the system, and I have been doing it for years, from inside the party...Now is the mark of success in that effort attributing to my entertaining such a drastic measure of sucession??? Yep...

But I made it clear that I intend to continue to effect change within the system...I am also prepared to support a sucession effort as well...

You obviously think this is all a joke...To which I figured you might just want to stay out of the way for your own safety...You are probably not effected as much as other Americans by the “tyrrany of good intentions” by our government, to which I beg you to just stay out of the way of efforts to correct the deficiencies of our elected government...

Some people are still willing to fight for your care free future...Maybe you should reflect and show appreciation for that sacrifice, instead of saying some of us are idiots or nuts as you so well annunciate...

RE Washington’s Address “...With slight shades of difference, you have the same religion, manners, habits, and political principles. You have in a common cause fought and triumphed together; the independence and liberty you possess are the work of joint counsels, and joint efforts of common dangers, sufferings, and successes...”

This was true back then, and for a while afterwards. But now...not so much.

We have allowed the liberal/socialist/communist mentality to exist, under the protection of the 1st Amendment, to attack and wither our society from within - “..the batteries of internal and external enemies will be most constantly and actively (though often covertly and insidiously) directed...”

I don’t believe in secession; I believe in a Patton-esque mentality - that of taking BACK what is OURS, and making the other dumb bastards leave.

I say F*** THEM.

Let’s see how determined THEY are to fight for what THEY believe in. And what exactly DO they believe in? Being a “Citizen of the World”?? Being “The New Communist Man?” Being a good little UN drone, or apparatchnik?

THAT’s worth fighting and dying for??? I think not.

A free man, an American Man, backed into a corner and fighting for his liberty, is a dangerous thing to ANY totalitarian mindset.

I’m an American. You all are too. Our ancestors lived and died fighting for this country and for the idea of this country. They lost arms, legs, eyes, pieces of their bodies and years of their lives for generations to come after them. For the IDEA of America - the idea that we ARE better, we ARE just and fair, we ARE the Last Best Hope. That no matter what your background, no matter where you came from or how shitty your life was, you still have an equal shot at making yourself into a success - not a guarantee that it will happen, but an equal shot at it. The idea that we have a set of rules to live by, and rights enumerated, and that politicians as well as “the little guy” are held accountable to the SAME set of rules. I know - that part of the dream has been corrupted - but only because WE haven’t dragged the bastards out of their offices and thrown them in jail EVERY TIME one of them stole from the public treasury (like they would do to US) or committed treason with a foreign enemy, or deliberately tried to incite racial, class, gender hatred to get re-elected.

WE let it happen - because we didn’t quickly, forcefully, and impartially enforce “the rules” that were handed down to us. We waited for “the proper authorities” to act - when WE ARE THE PROPER AUTHORITIES in the first place. WE are the First Responders - and we fell down on the job. We let the corrupt become the police force of the corrupt. They investigate themselves, and find nothing at all wrong.

We weren’t paying attention, and neither were our parents, nor our grandparents - because then as now, we’re all caught up in trying to make a living and keep the lights on and make sure the kids have food in their bellies and clothes on their backs.

Not to mention the mindless distractoins, drivel and minutia of day-to-day living in a ten-second attention span society.

But here’s the rub, folks - There isn’t anywhere else to run to; this is IT.

Seceed? To where? As poster “X” pointed out - the ChiComs are DYING for us to disintegrate and will do everything possible to facilitate that. Again, F*** them. We have internal enemies that would GLADLY roll over and spread their legs for these b*stards. Our task is to eliminate the internal enemies that would make it possible for the ChiComs to harm us.

Being an American is worth fighting and dying for. I was BORN an American, I LIVE as an American, and I will DIE as an American, and nothing else.

This is OUR country. Our ancestors, our blood, MADE it a nation. Our people are buried here. Our homes are here.

I say this - instead of secession, make the other side leave - make THEM seceed. Make it so miserable and uncomfortable for that mentality that they take their stupid ideology back across the oceans where it came from. Make them take their class, gender, race conflict tactics, their stupid wealth redistribution schemes, and their baiting and dividing schemes back to the sh*tholes they idolize so much.

While the system is workable, we use it to force them out of office, out of authority, out of ANY position where they can cause undue damage. And the system still IS workable - look at the way both sides FREAKED about the Tea Party, and how the RINOs immediately tried to co-opt it.

That’s the only secession I believe in - making THEM seceede from OUR land, from offices and positions of authority, from legislating, etc.

Failing that, well, by any means necessary, then.

But us leaving is not an option. To me, that’s like running away.

I just wasn’t brought up like that. I don’t think anyone out here was brought up that way.

One team, one fight, people.

Secession? Nope. It’s all-or-nothing.
Posted by Ann Barnhardt - June 10, AD 2011 8:49 AM MST
(Originally posted June 23, AD 2010)

I have received many emails and have heard much talk about the U.S. breaking into two countries - one Constitutional Republic built on a foundation of Judeo-Christian principles consisting of the Mountain, Central and Southern states (essentially a continuation of the original United States of America), and a Marxist-Socialist-Atheist confederation consisting of the Pacific Coast states, the Upper Midwest (IL, MI, WI) and the New England states.

While it is sorely tempting to think about drop-kicking the liberal states and going our seperate ways, the reality is that this would be a MASSIVE mistake, and would almost certainly set in motion a chain of events that would end Western Civilization.

If this sort of “divorce” were to happen, we all know that the New U.S. (NUS) would thrive while the Marxist Confederation (MC) would quickly fail catastophically. When that failure happened, the MC would come begging to the NUS to bail it out. Now, you might be thinking, “Screw ‘em. They made their bed, now they can sleep in it. They’ll get no help from us.” That’s a knee-jerk reaction, and it would be the WRONG reaction. Why? Because if the NUS turned down the MC’s requests for help, who would be the ONLY other nation capable of bailing out the MC? China. And as we should all understand with crystal clarity, the liberals in the MC states would be, without question, idiotic enough to actually INVITE the Chinese to take over their economy, and eventually their land - purely as a “peacekeeping force” to control the food shortage riots, you understand. So, in order to stave off Chinese involvement in North America, we would have to bail the MC out anyway. It’s a textbook “damned if you do, damned if you don’t”.

In the event of a divorce wherein the NUS didn’t prop up the MC, the ports of San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle would be completely vulnerable, and eventually would be thrown wide open to a cold invasion. The same could also be said for the East Coast ports. Boston, New York and Washington D.C. would be vulnerable and/or invite a “peacekeeping force” from the U.N., probably led by Russia. Now we need to talk military tactics. Assume that what I have just laid out actually came to pass. The NUS and Constitutionalist refugees from the MC states are now compressed into the geographic center of the continent. To the west lies the Chinese Army. To the east lies the UN/Russian army.

This is called a “Strategic Flanking”. In fact, this would be the largest strategic flanking in world history. To be “flanked” is very, very bad. If you are fighting any sort of battle, you want to keep your adversary in front of you at all times and your sides CLEAR. You must NEVER allow the adversary to move along your sides (flanks). Combat tacticians are CONSTANTLY looking for a way to move their troops in such a way so that they “gain the flanks”. Once a force loses its flanks, it becomes nearly impossible (without a massive advantage in weaponry) to escape. The most famous tactical flanking in history was executed by Hannibal at the Battle of Cannae in 216 BC. With fewer than 40,000 men, Hannibal drew the Roman army of 90,000 men into his center, and then wrapped around their flanks on both sides, thus forming a semi-circle around the Romans. By doing this, Hannibal was able to COMPLETELY DESTROY the Roman army with fewer than HALF the number of men.

The most famous strategic flanking to date is probably the flanking of Nazi Germany by the Soviet army to the east and the Allies to the west. While this involved the entire European continent, the flanking I describe above on the North American continent would dwarf the Nazi flanking in size and scope. It is not hard to imagine a massive Chinese force pushing and compressing the NUS from the west, eventually wrapping around the northern flank, with a UN/Russian force compressing from New England in a southwesterly direction, pushing the people of the NUS south towards the Gulf of Mexico, and utter defeat.

Given these obvious tactical realities, I hope that one and all now see that the UNION MUST BE PRESERVED. The United States of America MUST remain intact from “sea to shining sea”. It is all-or-nothing for us. Amicable divorce is NOT an option. We can not allow Marxism to establish any quarter, even in the spirit of “compromise” and the avoidance of possible hostilities, because that “compromise” and “avoidance” would be to sign our own death warrants, and the death warrant of Western Civilization. It would be far better to fight a war of national preservation than to fight a war against a conquering Sino-Russian invasion.

How sick is it that I have to post this crap? I’m a 34 year old single woman. I should be planning my next business move, or thinking about recreational travel. Instead, I’m standing here, mid-morning on a Friday, writing essays on secession dynamics and military tactics for the North American theater. This is the living, breathing definition of FUBAR. God save us.

The men in the suits are the ones who need to be eliminated from the political scene. Their troops won’t do anything until they are ordered to and even then they are going to want a paycheck. If the folks at TSA don’t get a paycheck they aren’t going to continue molesting old ladies and babies.

Figure out how to stop either one and the war is over.

You are correct in every respect. The uncomforatble truth that most of us cannot seem to face is that the restoration of our Republic cannot be restored by peaceful means. That's the protocol for the aftermath of the absolutely Biblical housecleaning that will be required first. These monsters - yes, monsters have set themselves a terrible table - their own rules of engagement, their cruel and sadistic vision of the future calls for the death of billions and the enslavement of the remainder. Some of them have said as much, openly now, now that their mask has begun to slip.

They are not only unfit to live in a free society; they are unfit to live.

Stated very well...I agree 150%...An compelling option elected officials should entertain...The only problem is they won’t see it, nor will they want to look for it...

My personal feeling they ALL need to be shown the door...Even the ones we like...Because at the end of the day there are more qualified (conservative) people that participate on this website to fill the ranks in ALL positions from the top down...

What is ironic is that I know there has got to be an “Anti-Stevie_d_64” on websites like the DailyKos, or some other lefty website who will say the same thing about their side of the equation...

"I think the biggest differences are between rural and urban areas."

I think the biggest differences are between THE VALUES HISTORICALLY HELD BY rural and urban areas.

Values are the crux. It is values and attacks on deeply-held values that motivate a man to take up arms and risk losing everything.

Noumenon, the "Killers Without COnscience" article is right on the money, and it's telling that the libs worship the ground of those in the article.

"there are those in government - and those who seek control of your government - who simply want you dead. They would kill you if they could get away with it. Why? Because you are in their way. Failing that, they would settle for taking everything you have if they felt that they could do so without being held accountable..."

That's the money shot, right there.

At the end of the day we are in a war for OUR survival with these assclowns. Marx's definition of "peace" is "absence of opposition to our goals" - that means folks like US have to be "disappeared" before they achieve their end game.

Well, quite frankly, I don't cotton too well to being "disappeared". As a matter of fact, I downright take offense to the idea that some asshole somewhere is walking around right now plotting how best to take US out, so they can have their little Utopian Orgasmfest.

As I said earlier - F***'em. They want to dance, we can dance.

We are sufficient for the day.

I'm honored to be in the company of Patriots such as yourselves.

"If we are mark'd to die, we are enough to do our Country loss, and if to live, the fewer the men, the greater the share of honor..."

A clearer view of the United Nations and its intentions.

The creation of the League of Nations was the first international attempt to start a New World Order. Since President Wilson wouldn’t join, it failed. Then came along the United Nations which Alger Hiss, a charter member of the Council on Foreign Relations coaxed us to join in 1945.

World regionalism is spelled out clearly in the U.N. Charter, Chapters 8 through 11, using such terms as “regional arrangements, intergovernmental agreements, and metropolital areas.” Advocates of one-world socialism have already divided the world into 85 regions for policing purposes. In adopting the U.N. Charter, Congress has established the Charter as the Supreme Law of the land (Fugi v. State of California, 1950-52).

“The old world order changed when this war-storm broke. The old international order passed away as suddenly, as unexpectedly, and as completely as if it had been wiped out by a gigantic flood, by a great tempest, or by a volcanic eruption. The old world order died with the setting of that day’s sun and a new world order is being born while I speak, with birth-pangs so terrible that it seems almost incredible that life could come out of such fearful suffering and such overwhelming sorrow.” — Nicholas Murray Butler, in an address delivered before the Union League of Philadelphia, Nov. 27, 1915

“The peace conference has assembled. It will make the most momentous decisions in history, and upon these decisions will rest the stability of the new world order and the future peace of the world.” -M. C. Alexander, Executive Secretary of the American Association for International Conciliation, in a subscription letter for the periodical International Conciliation (1919)

“If there are those who think we are to jump immediately into a new world order, actuated by complete understanding and brotherly love, they are doomed to disappointment. If we are ever to approach that time, it will be after patient and persistent effort of long duration. The present international situation of mistrust and fear can only be corrected by a formula of equal status, continuously applied, to every phase of international contacts, until the cobwebs of the old order are brushed out of the minds of the people of all lands.” — Dr. Augustus O. Thomas, president of the World Federation of Education Associations (August 1927), quoted in the book “International Understanding: Agencies Educating for a New World”
(1931)

“... when the struggle seems to be drifting definitely towards a world social democracy, there may still be very great delays and disappointments before it becomes an efficient and beneficent world system. Countless people ... will hate the new world order ... and will die protesting against it. When we attempt to evaluate its promise, we have to bear in mind the distress of a generation or so of malcontents, many of them quite gallant and graceful-looking people.” — H. G. Wells, in his book entitled “The New World Order” (1939)

“The term Internationalism has been popularized in recent years to cover an interlocking financial,
political, and economic world force for the purpose of establishing a World Government. Today
Internationalism is heralded from pulpit and platform as a ‘League of Nations’ or a ‘Federated Union’ to which the United States must surrender a definite part of its National Sovereignty. The World
Government plan is being advocated under such alluring names as the ‘New International Order,’ ‘The
New World Order,’ ‘World Union Now,’ ‘World Commonwealth of Nations,’ ‘World Community,’ etc. All the terms have the same objective; however, the line of approach may be religious or political according to the taste or training of the individual.” — excerpt from A Memorial to be Addressed to the House of Bishops and the House of Clerical and Lay Deputies of the Protestant Episcopal Church in General Convention (October 1940)

“In the first public declaration on the Jewish question since the outbreak of the war, Arthur Greenwood, member without portfolio in the British War Cabinet, assured the Jews of the United States that when victory was achieved an effort would be made to found a new world order based on the ideals of ‘justice and peace.’” -excerpt from article entitled “New World Order Pledged to Jews,” in the New York Times (October 1940)
