ABC News probes gay 'cure' claims about Bachmann clinic
The Politico ^ | July 11, 2011 | Maggie Haberman

Posted on 07/11/2011 7:49:32 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

The questions about Michele Bachmann's husband's crisis clinic - and reports its services including helping to "cure" homosexuals - went mainstream tonight, with an ABC News story featuring undercover video shot of one of the center's counselors saying it's "possible" to be "totally free" of such feelings.

The "World News" report included an interview with a former patient at the clinic, who told the ABC reporter that he'd been sent there when he was 17 years old to try to "change" him.

"[One counselor's] path for my therapy would be to read the Bible, pray to God that I would no longer be gay," Ramirez, who went to Bachmann & Associates in 2004, "And God would forgive me if I were straight."

The reports - denied repeatedly by the Bachmanns - have been circulating for years. But the ABC News story included undercover video of a counselor shot by a member of the advocacy group "Truth Wins Out."

The counselor, in the video, is seen telling the patient - who, according to the report, said he was a gay man who wanted to be "cured" of homosexuality - that "God has designed our eyes (for you) to you be attracted to (a) woman's body."

How is this a scandal? Are we all supposed to believe that homosexuality is mainstream?

The part where “the reports repeatedly denied by the Bachmanns” is were the scandal lies, imho. Regardless of the issue, whenever a politician is caught in a lie, a scandal is born. Now, that said; who knows the veracity of the allegations, and whether the Bachmann’s actually “lied” or not. I'm not making any judgment, but I think this “scandal” will have legs only if they lied.

If Gov. Palin plays her cards right, she can saunter right back to her legitimate Tea Party leadership claim and use Stepford Congresswoman Bachmann’s social crusading to make herself more palatable to voters in the middle.

I wish that the Bachmanns had came out early about it and said yes at times some counselors do help troubles souls who ask for help dealing with homosexuality and got it over with...Now the liberal media still would have pursue it but then there would have been no “we caught you saying this when its not true”....I don’t think this will hurt Bachmann that much but the NEXT THING if there is MORE added to this will have people pulling back

By the looks of Newsweek, at least part of the liberal MSM is solidly behind Palin. They really do not like Bachmann though and their attacks are more numerous as her popularity grows.

You think? Here's a few Bachmann will get, and Palin will no doubt get:

How old is the Earth?

Is homosexuality a sin?

Is Evolution a lie made up by scientists to deny God?

Are all people that haven't been Saved going to eternal damnation in Hell?

Then we'll talk palatable to the middle.

Part of the fact is that the media like Newsweek needs money and Sarah sells, i bet their advertisement on the page of the Sarah article shot up dramatically

But the most important thing is that Sarah plays hardball with the media - those who are fair gets exclusives with her like Scott Conroy of RealClearPolitics; those who are not fair gets shutout, some of the liberal media now understands that she is the biggest bulb in politics today and she isn’t going away and that she sells and they can either be on the sidelines like the NYT or be in on the action just by posting fair articles or reports.

To be fair Brian Ross of ABC was the one that broke the Rev Wright story open as far as the network television and newspapers goes....Hannity and a few conservatives were on it much earlier. Having said that we know that many journalists were reluctant to push the Rev Wright issue further

Q. How old is the Earth?

A. 6,000 to 12,000 years old

Q. Is homosexuality a sin?

A. No. The sexual acts associated with, actually defining homosexuality, is the sin. A “celibate homosexual”, (oxymoron), would not be sinning.

Q. Is Evolution a lie made up by scientists to deny God?

A. Yes, The theory of evolution is an unproved theory. What scientist do when trying to find the answers to questions of origin, is to absolutely exclude God as an answer. It would be like trying to solve the equation 2 + 2 = ?, and not considering or allowing “4” to be the answer.

Q. Are all people that haven't been Saved going to eternal damnation in Hell?

A. In a word, Yes.

Is that it?, Those were too easy.

Palin had the highest gubernatorial approval ratings in Gallup’s history up in the least religious and most libertarian state in the country. Her focus in government has always been on pragmatic economic and anti-corruption issues.

Palin is unapologetically prolife, but she is not hateful to those who disagree with her and she is very respectful of gays, though not in favor of gay marriage. She’s a far cry from Bachmann’s social extremism in her political, personal and business life.

This is 100% predictable. The MSM helps to build up MB to “tweak” SP (or so they think). Once MB gets a lot more visibility and rising poll numbers to the top...BOOM, they knock her down. I predict that MB will drop out of the race because of what the MSM will do to her and family now that she has arrived at/near the top of the GOP polls. I predict that Perry will also NOT run out of fear for what they will dig up on him. That will leave the door wide open for SP, who will ultimately answer the call and RUN. Yes, she’ll run Zer0bama right into the ground.

The: No feelings at all
The: Free from sin
The: God Will forgive you
or The: “Just read the Bible”

And which one is the lie?

Wow, we can’t find out why Mrs Obama had her law license revoked but we need undercover at a counseling office.

Stepford Congresswoman Bachmann’s social crusading to make herself more palatable to voters in the middle.

Proof of how utterly clueless you are. This sort of report dramatically increases Bachmann's chances of securing even more of evangelic vote in Iowa, the same state where Republicans nominated Pat Robertson and Mike Huckabee.

I wish that the Bachmanns had came out early about it and said yes ... but the NEXT THING if there is MORE added to this ...
///
this already IS “more added” !
i haven’t paid much attention since the previous things, like her saying vehemently that they didn’t get a penny from the farm, OR the clinic, and then tax records showed they did. and many other things, that others have pointed out.
now, i see that she lied about her husband using Christianity to cure Gays ?!?
...if there is ANYTHING i expected her to stand up and be honest about, regardless of cost, it is her faith.

that was the ONE thing i respected MOST about her!
that she had the courage of her convictions, especially about her Christian faith.

...the left invented things about Palin from whole cloth. they literally put words in her mouth.
But Bachmann SAID those words, on several things now, that were misleading at best.
sorry if her supporters wish to kill the messenger.
but it’s NOT the same as what the media did to Palin, when Bachmann does things like “John Wayne” to herself.

Bachmann may end up as the nominee, or at least the VP.
(and i will support her!!!)
but the left DOES hate her for her views, especially Christianity, anyway. so why not at least be honest,
and not give the MSM even more free ammo?

But for some reason it’s a yawner story when Planned Parenthood tells girls it’s okay to break the law and get benefits. Oh wait, read first paragraph.

/// i heard that also. and that Bachmann claimed they didn’t get a penny of it (it all went to staff), and that it was a “one time” thing. but records show it was for 6 years.
...just like claiming 50,000 for the farm was “not a penny”.
she shoots herself in the foot, repeatedly, and then when a conservative points out her own words, her supporters claim it is media lies. Just like Obama supporters saying any honest criticism of “the one”, is racist.
sorry, truth is truth. facts are facts.
Bachmann needs to be scrupulously clear, precise, and honest, or the MSM WILL eat her alive.
and we DO need good conservatives like her!
