Obama signals move against Murdoch/Fox Will GOP run for cover?
The Aged P.com ^ | 14/07/11 | t

Unlike Chappaquidick and the NYT/Guardian Wikileaks campaign nobody has been killed as a result of News of the World phone hacking. Yes it was unsavoury and seedy – but that is the nature of journalism. It’s a competitive dog eat dog world where you are only as good as your last story – just like Hollywood, politics and drug dealing. So the key to fighting the forthcoming onslaught is not to excuse the activities that took place several years ago under the Blair/Brown Labour government that refused to take action because at the time they were supported by the Murdoch press.

The line to take is to condemn all dirty tricks then follow up with just a representative sample of nefarious activities undertaken by the Democrats and their surrogates over the last ten years….you’ll be spoiled for choice.

Then, as was once suggested by a certain Chicago Light Bringer, get in their faces.

The big question is – what will the GOP political/media”leadership” do over this? Surely it won’t bolt for cover and hide under the table with its thumb in its mouth while the mob is baying outside the door….will it?

Surely there will be someone who will run to the fight – with a smile and a rapier….

Pete King is already calling for an FCC investigation.

Dueling investigations in the Senate and House.

All I know is that Newscorp wasn’t caught smuggling guns to criminal cartels in an attempt to blame our second amendment but we all know which investigation will get the headlines.

NO.

But I do see Fox News given its independence from Murdoch.

It might have just the opposite result of what they think, I noticed last night the normally “moderate” O’Reily seemed as far right as Hannity (going as far as to declare himself a tea partier on the debt ceiling increase). If they go after Murdoch, Fox might go on an Anti-FCC, Anti-Obama crusade and they have they can get their message out to far more viewers than the FCC has public relations people.

As near as I can tell a tabloid owned by newscorp in Great Britain “hacked” into cell phones to get voice mails and deleted them (to make room for more voicemails) and unwittingly interfered with an ongoing police investigation.

Apparently this behavior is pretty common among british media but this time they got caught and have done it to the wrong politicians.

As far as the “hacking” is concerned, it appears to be as simple as trying two different 4 digit codes that come installed on cell phones there but many people never reset the code to one of their own.

I still can’t figure out what it has to do with the USA other than being a good excuse.

You may be right. Fox had been taking it easy on Obama. BOR threw him softball questions. Beck is gone. Gretta only does shows on the dead white chick du jour. While they may not have been Obama's cheerleaders like MSNBC they certainly weren't doing him much damage either. His move is kind of like poking a hornets nest with a stick. The hornets may have been annoying, but attacking them changes the situation from annoying to painful.

Maybe it is to distract from the ISSA investigations.

They’re certainly going to try to use it for cover.

Better Pete King take the lead on investigating than the 3 foaming-at-the mouth liberals like Babbles Boxer who are calling for an inquisition ... errr... investigation

Fox News being set free from Murdoch would be a good thing. Otherwise it’ll be run by his liberal, ideologically activist son(s) sometime soon.

Fox and other conservatives news outlets were, and continue to be, silent regarding Obama's very questionable natural born citizenship and his Internet posted forgeries. The explanation given by the Obama defenders has been that Fox was threatened into silence by the specter of FCC investigations.

Well!....From the beginning I have consistently posted that the time to pound Obama on his natural born citizenship was in 2008 and to continue vigorous reporting on it until action was taken to remove him. Why Answer: BECAUSE OBAMA WILL THROW THEM OFF THE AIR ANYWAY!!!

It seems my prediction is coming to pass.

Isn't this scandal limited to the News of the World tabloid operation?

If so, there's no reason to launch an investigation on this side of the pond except as a witch hunt against Murdock, NewsCorp and its U.S. media operations including WSJ, FoxNews and others.

Where were the Peter Kings calling for investigation of Viacom over Dan Rather's memogate? Or of Turner Broadcasting for CNN's Tailwind fraud? And on and on. At least those activities took place inside the U.S.

This is all an attempt to open up a new front in Soros' "War on Fox."

I doubt it, simply because Fox News for one thing is NOT on the public airwaves. Cable is still for all purposes is PRIVATE business.

Britian may be able to do this but isn’t this a vilation of our Constitutional right to a free press?

“I still can’t figure out what it has to do with the USA other than being a good excuse”

There are rumors that they hacked into 9/11 victims phones too.IMHO that does not give the government a right to interfere with our free press.

The NYT has done far dirtier things and the left always called it free speech.

This is part of the pre-planned echelon attack by the world’s socialists against America, at the behest of manipulating communists.
