DALLAS — At least eight people were hurt when thousands of housing voucher applicants rushed the doors at the Jesse Owens Memorial Complex in Dallas, Texas.
An estimated 5,000 applicants waited for hours to receive applications for one of the 3,800 available vouchers. The waiting applicants became a frenzied stampede when officials opened doors to the housing voucher offices earlier than expected.

They had an article in the Washington Post a few weeks ago. A woman with her single mom daughter and grandson had a Section 8 loan certificate and were looking at a 2,800 sq. foot house in a nice subdivision. Her share of the rent would be about $200.mo.

I can’t speak for Dallas, but Section 8 housing has become one of the biggest over-used “social programs”...
Drives me nuts to go by one of the many Section 8 apartment complexes to see the “rides” with 24/26/28 “ rims and tires that cost 10X what the cars they are mounted on are worth. To hear their car audio that would shame some concert venues, and to see the the thugs hang out. There is a fairly large Section 8 apartment complex at the end of the road we live on. I have been around apartments before, but I have never seen the number of fire trucks, police cars, and ambulances that run up our street each and every day. The police HATE going there (and the other Sec.8 complexes).
Since when did it become the government’s job to provide housing for free or at reduced rates for everyone?
If I got it right, 15,000 total are vying for 100 slots. Yeah I can’t see why there would be a problem... /s

The only purpose of Section 8 housing is to export surplus Democrat voters to non-Democrat areas so that the non-Democrat voters get swamped out.

I got out of the Army during the 1973/74 recession and my wife and I were looking for an apartment in North Dallas, hoping we could find something affordable that was close to her well off parents, it was a very nice area and I was surprised to find a very nice apartment complex, that was a welfare complex only.
That was my first exposure to the fact that the dangerous people were being moved into the areas that upscale people struggled to afford, to escape the dangerous areas.
I guess the people in dallas must have missed the video of the Walmart stampede.

Amen. I saw an MTV teen mom program in which a young unwed mother was telling her mother how she was so happy that she was getting her own government subsidized apartment. I thought — why doesn’t she stay with her mother the way women in that condition always did. The government is actually inticing young women to get out of the house and into their own apartment by getting pregnant. This has to be stopped. Unwed motherhood is the only reason that people use welfare that can really be abused. There are people who are disabled and they need help. Society can afford to help them out but we cannot afford to keep giving freebies to unwed mothers because then you only get MORE unwed mothers as we have seen for more than 40 years.

I think everything that the Dems do has a well thought out purpose which always involves more power for the Dems. I think these Section 8 stampedes as happened in Atlanta some months ago are a way of shifting the demographics where the Democrats want them to go. The Dems are moving their voters where they will do the most good for the Dem party.
Section 8 has to be cut or seriously reduced at the federal level. If they do not have the money they can’t spend it. Also, I hope that the more conservative states will refuse to take money for these programs, they do absolutely nothing for the benefit of the states. They only serve to empower corrupt Democrats. You wonder why the Democrats are so crafty and our guys as sooo stoopid!

Officials knew the crowd was coming, so why weren’t they prepared?
There seems to be a lot of finger pointing. Dallas Sheriff’s Office says the Dallas Police Department
The question is how did this get so out of control. The Sheriff’s Office said it was prepared for large numbers and its officers did their jobs.

100% Wrong. These programs are unconstitutional and should NOT exist at all. They should be ended immediately. Phasing them out will not work. The Federal employees associated with these programs should be fired and their pensions revoked.
Programs such as these are highly corrosive to a civil society. They are put forth by people who are evil to their core.
If our Republic is to survive, these types of programs and ALL others that are unconstitutional need to be eliminated outright. Otherwise, the U.S. will morph into a third world banana republic. Short of Revolution II, the United States as a Republic will end.

They could have had people fill out forms and then picked them at random like a raffle but instead they did this in the most publicity getting way they could. As I said, when the Dems do something, they always have a plan behind it. They also pulled the same stunt in Atlanta. I think they are trying to use this as propaganda about how there is so much homelessness and we need to build more and more housing. I think it also deliberately causes more demand from the “needy” community who can never be satisfied.
I agree, but I was only speaking practically, it would be very hard to do that but we need to start making some noise. Maybe our Republican “leaders” will listen.

I was told of a woman in Texas that was on the section 8 program who spaced out her unwed children so she could participate in this program. She said it was a guarantee that she would never have to work. Her many boyfriends were left off the hook of supporting their children. I am a firm believer the children should be taken away & put up for adoption or put in foster care. That is the only way the children can get out of this mess by changing the environment and having a start at a new life.
I live in Texas in a rented duplex. Not the greatest neighborhood, but I’m paying my own way with two jobs. My wife is from New Hampshire, and wants us to move into section 8 housing so she can be near her mom. I balked at that idea and told her that it is simply not going to happen. I will NOT move my kids into a neighbood like that. We have a back yard, and a garage where we are right now. There is no way in the world that we will move to one of those places.
