Consider how a group of ornery atheists in the US is suing Texas governor Rick Perry for daring to do an incredibly outrageous thing: hold a prayer meeting. Yikes, you would have thought the governor just called for the legalisation of child sex. Actually these angry atheists would clearly have preferred him to do something like that.
This is what Perry stated, Given the trials that beset our nation and world, from the global economic downturn to natural disasters, the lingering danger of terrorism and continued debasement of our culture, I believe it is time to convene the leaders from each of our United States in a day of prayer and fasting, like that described in the book of Joel. I urge all Americans of faith to pray on that day for the healing of our country, the rebuilding of our communities and the restoration of enduring values as our guiding force.
One of the more bizarre things about this is that the misotheist group behind this claims to have 700 members in Texas. Given that truth tends to mean so little to such folks, it is probably more likely that they have 70 members. But even if we accept their numbers, just what does this figure represent?
There are nearly 26 million people in Texas. So this group comprises just 0.0027 per cent of the states entire population. Yet this minuscule rabble wants to hold the entire state hostage to its anti-Christian bigotry. Given that the majority of Texans are Christians, this is even more bizarre.
And also bizarre is how they are claiming that such a prayer meeting is unconstitutional. The American Founding Fathers had no problem whatsoever with this kind of activity. Indeed, such times of prayer and fasting were held on a regular basis.

Atheists are the new missionaries and evangelicals. It’s just that their their orientation is 180 degrees from the old ones.
In the days of Madelyn Murray O’Hare (sp?), they romped, stomped, intimidated, and sued. Ordinary people were intimidated. We must stand up now, because they see victory within their sights for a nation and world where the Lord has been evicted and godless Communism/Atheism rules all.
The atheists have NEVER been forced to pray; but now they FORCE everyone else NOT to pray wherever they can.
Just what part of . . or the free exercise thereof. . . don’t these people seem to grasp? It certainly will be fun if we can ever get any real adults like Marco Rubio to populate all three branches of our governments.
All they’ve really accomplished is to verify what Perry said.
They want to make everyone over into joyless soreheads like themselves.
Imprecatory prayer was created for those of us who would like to see the militant atheists meet the Living God face to face.
These are small people ... unbelievably small. They should be defied openly at every opportunity. Make them feel their smallness ...
