The longer one serves in politics, the more fodder there is for opponents. Perry has been around a long time in a big state and there is plenty to find disagreement with. There is less fodder with Bachmann, who has resided in the minor leagues of politics but has had to make "national" votes in her role as congresswoman. Candidates like Palin and Cain are minor leaguers with little national record, and it's much easier to put hopes and dreams into them and harder to pin them down on issues since they don't have much of a record.

Perry's okay. These days, that's not bad.

Anita is in unity with him on this. She wasn’t for a long time. This is good.

Palin, minor league?

Sure Perry has all the qualities you mentioned and if he gets in with the "current field" he would have my support.

But Palin, minor league? Please.

Yep, minor league. Short-term governor (she served less time than Wally Hickel, yes THE Wally Hickel)of a small-time state. No voting record on national issues to consider. Strictly an ideological candidate.

Let's face it. If she were a man, no one would give her a second glance for President.

That is so unfair. Rove should give Perry a command, NOW.

I think Perry is shaped more by his donors and friends than Karl Rove. Rove was off in Washington for much of the time that Perry was Governor and giving speeches in support of illegal immigrants.

And unlike Bush and Rove, I believe that if Perry gets in the White House, he will definitely get a "guest worker" program pushed through. However, the more I read of Perry's speeches and comments, the more I feel like "guest worker" is just a codeword for "open borders" since Perry is talking about people easily crossing the US border just to work, without trying to get citizenship, implying that they would be returning back across the border at some point.

Remind us which RINO you support: Romney? or Perry?

While she is not my favorite Republican and I have a few issues with her, she doesn't have a 10 year record of supporting illegal immigrants on behalf of her donors. I wouldn't be worried about her getting in office and then trying to get a guest worker program pushed through Congress. That easily bumps her ahead of Rick Perry as far as I'm concerned.

Out of the fantasy/undeclared candidates, I would rank her behind West, but definitely ahead of Rick Perry.

Of the candidates running, I initially supported Gingrich until he let his idiot wife run his campaign. Right now, I lean toward Bachmann. Nobody else left looks any good at this time.

Perry will cause a third party.

Same as any RINO will.

The GOP will be third party.

Good job. I hope you keep posting this.

Looks like Perry’s going to replicate W’s strategy—yet again, this time with his presidential campaign.

I agree with your comment on illegals, since Palin has never had to deal with them in her limited government experience. If she will come out with a strong, point-by-point plan about what she plans to do about illegal immigration, then we will have something to compare to, at least in theory. Is she a path to citizenship person? A send them all back person? Who really knows? She's everything to everyone right now.

Fantasy-land candidate? Jim DeMint for me.

Enthusiastic and walks the walk of a true conservative (per Sarah Palin). Can’t beat that!

I’m so sick of these “maybe-running” quasi-candidates... I think I will just start ignoring all election coverage until 2 weeks before the primaries.
