Obama: Republicans’ Fault If Social Security Checks Don’t Go Out

(CNSNews.com) – At a hastily convened news conference Friday evening, President Obama offered his explanation of why debt negotiations with House Speaker John Boehner fizzled, and he once again raised the specter of entitlement checks not going out if the debt ceiling isn’t raised soon.

“Well, when it comes to all the checks, not just Social Security -- veterans, people with disabilities -- about 70 million checks are sent out each month -- if we default then we’re going to have to make adjustments. And I’m already consulting with (Treasury) Secretary (Tim) Geithner in terms of what the consequences would be,” Obama said.

“We should not even be in that kind of scenario. And if Congress -- and in particular, the House Republicans -- are not willing to make sure that we avoid default, then I think it’s fair to say that they would have to take responsibility for whatever problems arise in those payments.”

In the next breath, Obama said he’s “not interested in finger-pointing and I’m not interested in blame, but I just want the facts to speak for themselves.”

Obama said he’s getting letters from people who tell him they have to skip meals at the end of each month, as well as from senior citizens on Social Security “who are hanging on by a thread. Folks who have severe disabilities who are desperate every single month to try to figure out how they’re going to make ends meet.” He also mentioned federal contractors “who have to wonder are they going to be able to get paid and what does that do in terms of their payrolls."

Obama said a “huge” number of people would be affected by a government default: “(I)magine what that does to the economy, when suddenly 70 million checks are put at risk. I mean, if you’re a business out there, that is not going to be good for economic growth. And that’s the number one concern of the American people.”

'Working stiffs'

Like House Speaker John Boehner, President Obama said raising the debt limit “is not an option,” it has to be done.

Obama insisted that the only “fair” solution is one that includes tax hikes on wealthy Americans, including many small business owners who create jobs. "That’s all the American people are looking for -- some fairness,” he said.

Obama indicated that he and Boehner were not that far apart when it comes to deficit reduction. The difference was, he said, that the White House plan “didn’t put all the burden on people who are least able to protect themselves, who don’t have lobbyists in this town, who don’t have lawyers working on the tax code for them -- working stiffs out there, ordinary folks who are struggling every day.

“And they know they’re getting a raw deal, and they’re mad at everybody about it. They’re mad at Democrats and they’re mad at Republicans, because they know somehow, no matter how hard they work, they don’t seem to be able to keep up. And what they’re looking for is somebody who’s willing to look out for them.”

Obama said Americans “are just desperate for folks who are willing to put aside politics just for a minute and try to get some stuff done.”

Republicans have complained for months that Obama has advanced no clear deficit reduction plan, not has he been willing to say where he would cut spending. His goal, they say, is to raise taxes.

So this (really bad adjective) president caused the economic havoc that is ravishing the country and has no solution to fix it apart from more of the same. Then he comes out and whines that the Republicans are being mean to him and he won’t pay anyone unless he gets his way.

Great pick America. Let’s hope we can do better in 2012.

Obama: Republicans’ Fault If Social Security Checks Don’t Go Out

World to Barry:
We know you're a self-serving, lying prick.

We know already that the Social Service Administration said that it is Treasury that decides when or whether to cut the checks and send them out, that Treasury is part of the executive branch, that you're in charge of the executive branch, and that if the checks don't go out, it's because the one who's in charge of the executive branch has chosen for his own personal reasons to make sure they don't go out.

We know the Republicans don't control the executive branch.

We know you (or whoever controls you) control the executive branch.

If the checks don't go out, YOU, Barry Soetoro, are the one to blame; the fault lies with you; we will not let anyone forget that.

Get ready to be tossed onto the electoral trash heap.

But first, for our own entertainment, go totally friggin berserk on national TV so we can pop a giant bag of popcorn and watch it again and again and again.

Blame Repubs.

But it will not work...if the 'Pubs in Congress do not relent. The seniors will figure out that it is the President's charge, not Congress'. The Big O has painted himself in the corner. It is a case of who will blink first. This fight is in favor of the 'Pubs. It is theirs to lose.

...and Obama will decide that getting millions in money-laundered campaign slush fund dollars from his enablers on Wall Street and elsewhere will be more important that giving Granny her Social Security check.

(two can play that game Alinsky turd)

Hey, Barry! Who cut $500,000,000,000 from Medicare? You did. How will that affect folks on Social Security? How will your swapping it over into an even more ridiculous program of Obamacare affect businesses that have, unfortunately, come to depend on it?

But, I guarantee the republicans will be blamed no matter what happens. If they cave and obama gets everything he wants and the market crashes and interest rates go up, it’ll STILL be the republicans’ fault.

If Obama cant pay current obligations, how did he think he would pay for future “gimmies” like Obama Care?

It never was managed in a true fiduciary sense, it immediately went out the door to pay the retirees that existed while you were working. At times a “surplus” did backlog when the income stream coming in exceeded the payout stream. Of course the federal government from the Johnson administration on has “borrowed” from it. (Has every administration done this? How often does this “borrowing” occur?}

There is a lot of speculation that he can’t stop the SS checks. Its all computerized and I don’t think its as simple as turning off a light switch. Plus I just dare him to do it. Just do it Barry. Dig that hole you witless clod.

“He’s no longer perceived as the poor little black boy who grew up in slavery and busted through the ranks to make something of himself as the first black POTUS.

People are P!SSED and he knows it!”

He’s also poisoned the well for any other black man OR woman who runs for President for the next hundred years.

“Obama talks pretty big for a man who has no budget plan.He has not submitted one.”

Boehner should go on national television and announce he is scheduling a vote on the Obama debt extension bill or the Senate debt extension bill should one be put forward. On the day of reckoning, when there is no alternative bill, the House should pass cut, cap and balance for the second time and ask the Senate to pass it for the sake of the nation.

In case you don’t get it obozo, the American people expect to see the end of ALL funding for ethanol, planned parenthood, the new organization formerly known as ACORN, foreign aid, money to the UN, NPR/PBS, and funding for the Departments of Energy and Education, etc. BEFORE Social Security is cut at all.

If the problem is really that serious, we can surely do without those VERY unpopular programs.

There's the problem right there.
