The ‘Truth’ About Jane Fonda’s Trip to Hanoi is Bad Enough
Big Hollywood ^ | July 25, 2011 | John Nolte

Posted on 07/27/2011 12:59:27 PM PDT by Zakeet

73 year-old, two time Academy Award-winner Jane Fonda spends 4200-plus words “explaining” her infamous 1972 trip to Hanoi where she was infamously photographed sitting on a North Vietnamese (translation: the enemy) anti-aircraft gun (translation: a weapon used to kill American pilots).

Not sure it’s worth a read. Up to you. But the real meat is buried under thousands of words:

... Frankly, the trip ... was a humanitarian mission, not a political trip. My goal was to expose and try to halt the bombing of the dikes. (The bombing of the dikes ended a month after my return from Hanoi)

The only problem was that I went alone. Had I been with a more experienced, clear-headed, traveling companion, I would not have allowed myself to get into a situation where I was photographed on an anti-aircraft gun.

Imagine Jane Fonda’s father Henry Fonda (who, by the way, enlisted to fight in WWII) saying, “In 1942, the Nazis invited me to Berlin where I was photographed on a Tiger II tank but I also did a bunch of other stuff while I was there, so please judge me by the full context of my trip to Berlin.”

[Snip]

Something we’re not as forgiving about, however, is the betrayal of our country or the appeasing of an enemy. Fair or not, this is something that will forever haunt the legacies of Joe Kennedy Sr. and Charles Lindbergh.

And so it will with Jane Fonda.

What she did was morally appalling and narcissistic and arrogant and undermining to an entire generation of men who risked their lives for their own country and to keep free another.

No spin, no thousands of words, no Academy Award, no legacy or legend will ever change that.

I imagine Hanoi Jane knows a lot about “dikes” - bombed or otherwise.

Second look at Hanoi Jane?

On second thought, never mind ....., it only took less than a nanosecond.

You’d think by now she would know the pariah label isn’t going away. Like I’ve said before I hope I outlast her and she’s buried and not cremated. My only concern then is how to get a couple of gallons of urine on the airplane. On second thought ... I’ll drive. :-)

Sure. A "humanitarian mission" that required her to make 19 propaganda broadcasts on Radio Hanoi, during which she parroted the communist talking points and repeatedly accused US troops of war crimes. Jane Fonda was a liar then, and remains a liar now.

Not too many folks I wish to rot in hell for eternity,
Hanoi Jane is one of them.

Jane Fonda will carry her guilt to the grave. I, for one, will never forgive her. God will maybe, but not me.

She’s a fool as well as a traitor. Her father was a big time lib as well.

Oh, thanks for reminding me. I live in a suburb of Cleveland, and I've never gotten around to pissing on Howard Metzenbaum's grave. I think I'll do that tomorrow.

Maybe the writer is too young to remember but Fonda has been trying to wash the blood off her hands since the late 70s. She’s given interview after interview explaining her evil behavior and wrote a book that had long sections on her misdeeds. She frames them, of course, as naive and humane efforts at bringing peace to the entire world.

In her self-serving autobiography she blames creep-husband Tom Haydon for not only encouraging the trip but refusing to go along with her. (He had plans for a post-hippie-radical political career that never happened and he didn’t want any tell-tale photos.)

She’s many things but she ain’t no fool about this. She’ll be cremated. I wonder where her ashes will be spread?

Well, I'd suggest that they should be spread on an icy sidewalk someplace, so that her worthless life wouldn't have been a complete waste of God's time.

Boy, you could write a business model and get rich from that idea.

Envision having people pay you $10/each to make such a deposit on their behalf... The government sends “piss” samples through various ground cargo services (FedEx). Why not offer Americans the opportunity to piss on Jane Fonda’s grave from anywhere on the continent...? You could be a wealthy man soon!

I heard on the news the other day that Hanoi Jane is miffed because QVC (which had planned to promote her new book) backed out of the deal.

I guess they know how popular it would make them to promote ANYTHING coming from this Hollywood crud.

Let her go and hawk her drivel somewhere else!!

Did anyone hear more about this?

I read a story about Jane Fonda in Viet Nam - there was a line of POWs who she was to review and shake hands with.

The guys wrote their ID numbers and SSNs on little strips of paper which they snuck to her during the handshake. They hoped to get info to their families that they were still alive.

But at the end of the review line, she turned those pieces of paper over to the North Vietnamese captors, who then beat and upped the tortures on the POWs.

I don't know if this is a true story or not.

At least by now, you shouldn’t have to stand in line.
