In a speech before the National Council of La Raza, an organization dedicated to promoting the interests of the Latino race, President Obama commiserated with the pain of illegal immigrants and shared his frustration with what he called a do nothing Congress.
Obama said the idea of bypassing Congress is very tempting. Getting a hundred senators and 400 representatives to take action on anything is like herding cats. Everybodys got their own notions of where we ought to go. On top of this, many serve constituencies comprised of rednecks and rubes. So even if their hearts are in the right place they cant risk alienating voters in their states.
The president said he has been studying President Lincolns Emancipation Proclamation as a possible model for a potential Amnesty Proclamation he might issue. Theres actually more leeway for a declaration of amnesty for undocumented residents than there was for Lincoln to free the slaves, Obama argued. The Constitution specifically provided for slavery. The Constitution says nothing about prohibiting immigration. In fact, up until the 1920s anyone who wanted to could come into America.
An Executive Order declaring that every undocumented immigrant presently in the country shall be granted the full rights and privileges of US citizenship would cancel the inaction of Congress and make a significant stride toward the expansion of human rights for an oppressed people, the President told the audience. I mean, how long should a respect for so-called enumerated powers be allowed to impede such a righteous cause?
As radical as the presidents possible amnesty proclamation might be, it fell short of fully placating La Raza supporters who demand that the land stolen from Mexico in the war of 1846 be returned. The United States is going down the drain, said audience member Manuel Trabajo. Unemployment is nearly 10%. In Mexico unemployment is below 5%. Returning these lands to Mexico would restore both justice and prosperity to the Latinos who inhabit them.
I know a lot of American Indians who would disagree with this "latino" commie 'RAT bull****. I'm pretty sure they don't want any part of becoming part of Mexico.
Impeach the SOB!!
Impeach the SOB!!
i agree. to reward those who violate our law, should be considered treason, and impeachable.
the California budget deficit is about 25 billion.
illegals cost CA about 21 billion EACH YEAR.
nationally, this must cost the USA over 100 billion.
taxpayer money is GIVEN to millions here illegally.
EITC, Food stamps, housing, etc.
and Obama wants to simply make them all legal?
...and he WILL. “mulling” it over, is psychology.
the Dems do it often. they “desensitize” an issue,
by bringing it up, again and again and again.
eventually, they ALWAYS do, what they were “considering”.
On top of this, many serve constituencies comprised of rednecks and rubes. So even if their hearts are in the right place they cant risk alienating voters in their states.
Ewwwwwwwww. Some folks might not take kindly to that.
Well, yes, LOTS of new Democrat votes there...
Practically indistinguishable from reality.
Careful what you satirize, the Clinton cabal was infamous for piling it on and brazening it out. They went so far it strained credulity and people started disbelieving their critics, just tuned them out and reelected the b-tard.
He’s already angling for a replay of the government shutdown, who knows what’s next. He’d issue an “Amnesty Proclamation” in a heartbeat, of that I do not doubt.
John. I appreciate the wit, but I am less likely to read these anymore. Semi-satire? Maybe make the satirical ‘quotes’ in a red font. It is too hard to distinguish fact from fiction anymore.
He ... wouldn't ... dare.
The calls for his impeachment would be by 75% of the nation, and that would include many, many Democrats.
I assume he knows this so he made this statement to the a--holes at La Raza just to try and taunt conservatives.
However, I could envision him doing this during the final six months of his second term -- another good reason to not let this bozo win in 2012.
