Bi-Partisan War on the Tea Party and Sarah Palin

We were just watching a bit of O'Reilly, only because we saw that Bernie Goldberg was on. Both O'Reilly and Goldberg were defending the Tea Party against the liberal screams of 'terrorists' and 'suicide bombers'. Goldberg derisively called the media 'birds on a wire', because they always seem to follow the leader. One media person will say something, and they all follow along, essentially saying "yeah, what he said"! Goldberg said that since the liberal's favorite slander of "racist" doesn't work anymore, they needed to find something else to call their opponents.

O'Reilly even said that if an alien were to land and see the two sides, the Tea Party saying we need to stop spending, and the liberals saying we need to spend MORE, the alien WOULDN'T think it was the Tea Party that was crazy.

I sure hope you are right — We may outnumber the politi-sluts in D.C., but we are outnumbered by the (over-half) of the country that keeps electing the rats & rinos.

The politicians are simply being true to their nature. Our political-battle is with those who vote every 4 years with their hand held out, wanting their “fair-share” out of *your* pocket.

You will never be able to change the McConnells, Boehners, Reids and Pelosis. You stand a better chance of influencing a voter or three. That’s the only thing I can think of to win this battle, and I’m not quite sure how to go about doing it (effectively) myself.

Well, if you take the concept of influencing 2 or 3, and expand it. If you sit down and make a list of everyone that you can think of that you know, you should easily come up with 250 names.

I am an Independent, and well-informed. So when subjects come up I make sure the people know that typical politicians are not my cup of tea. But I do share the “real story” and point out deficiencies on both sides.

Later close to the election, I talk about the candidates, and tell them who I will not be supporting and why. For example: with Obama I told them I had been following his career since he spoke at the convention.

Abortion is a big issue for most of the people in my town, so I let them know about his radical positions and statements on Abortion. Then I pointed out how reasonable he talks without revealing his specific solutions, and some of the radical stuff he said elsewhere.

I also don't waste my time on Koolaid drinkers, but sometimes I do ask them questions that show the holes in their theory. I have to restrain myself, because if you are too intense, people just think you are a kook.

If I was younger, I would run for precinct chairman. You would usually have about 500 people to contact. It is not a really big time commitment.

Only elected chairmen get to vote for party leadership. If every conservative who was able, did this in their community, they could take over the Republican party. Last election, close to half of these positions were open, so in many cases you wouldn't even have an opponent.

I keep asking my Democratic conservative friends when they are going to take over their party and get rid of the radicals in Washington.

So you could expand your efforts as far as you want to. Lots of people don't pay much attention to politics. But if you can explain the issues that are important to them, and let them know which candidate is best, you increase the candidates chances just through name recognition.

Just some ideas. I have succeeded in getting some life-long democrats into voting for conservative Republican votes. Last election one of the districts in my county went Republican for the first time in 50 years, and the margin was not slim - he won 70% of the vote - everyone but the Koolaid drinkers, I'd say.
