Krauthammer slams Tea Party attackers’ ‘lack of intelligence’
http://dailycaller.com/ ^ | August 03 2011 | Jeff Poor

Posted on 08/03/2011 9:39:08 AM PDT by Para-Ord.45

Washington Post columnist and Fox News Channel regular Charles Krauthammer said the situation is far simpler. He said instead it was a show of their “lack of intelligence” and “lack of originality.”

“Well, it certainly is a spitting and the sputtering of people who are, who’ve been deeply defeated,” Krauthammer said. “I mean, they were routed. They were up against a small minority of one half of one-third of the Congress and they got — they lost everything. They got routed. Look, this was their Agincourt, you know, Henry V outnumbered by the French, three to one. The opposition, the liberals, hold the Senate. They hold the White House. They hold the media, which had been leaking and parroting the White House line all the way through, and they still got defeated.

“I think this is sort of a pathetic response. If you have no arguments, what do you do? Ad hominems. You attack, you throw names out. But I have one slight disagreement with you [about this] being a conspiracy. I don’t think these people have the wherewithal to orchestrate a three-car motorcade. The reason for the repetition is lack of intelligence and lack of originality. These are people who are slothful.”

Despite Krauthammer’s low regard for the Tea Party’s left-wing detractors, O’Reilly insisted talking points were still circulating, which suggested a concerted effort. Krauthammer dismissed that notion.

“Look, what it means to me is you’ve got people with no intelligence, no originality, no imagination,” he said. “They are sputtering. They have lost. No arguments. What do they do? They want ad hominems. They want epithets. So, somebody uses it on the air — ‘Ah ha, that’s a good one. I’ll use it.’ I don’t credit them [with] the intelligence or the sort of, what it takes to put together a conspiracy.”

I think they won.
I think they are putting on a show about the power of the Tea Party.
I think the powers that be expect severe economic trouble in the next year.
I think they want to make 2012 about "undoing the damage" which they Tea party caused when they "won" on the issue of the debt ceiling.

They may not pull it off, but I think that's their plan.

There is a good chance we’ll hit the debt ceiling again before the ‘12 election. It will be the mother of all battles.

Time to raise up good Tea Party candidates, primary everyone who voted for this bill, and hope for some luck.

“Who/What is Denethor?”

Denethor II of the House of Húrin is a fictional character in J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Return of the King, which is the third and final part of his novel.

Denethor was not the sharpest knife outside of Mordor, and it appears that neither is the vaunted “K”.

I saw this interview, so I knew it was a good one, though I saw him on that round table show and thought his optimism for the bill because America now has the thought of “dollar for dollar” decrease of spending in relation to Debt Ceiling increase was a little too positive. Yes that’s good, but Kraut didn’t seem to see the overall horrendousness of the thing.

Not a Lord of the Rings fan, huh?

Denethor is the Steward of Gondor. In short, he thinks battle against Mordor and Sauron is a hopeless proposition, though he would have been willing to take up the Ring. In the end, he insanely decides to burn himself and his wounded son, Faramir, alive before Gondor has fallen. He typifies the concept of despair and surrender when pressed.

This country is headed over a cliff economically. Everybody understands that, including the ratings agencies, which are rather neutral on this — objective observers and they say you don’t get your house in order we’re going to make you lose your AAA [credit rating]. Everybody understands that. But it was these people, expressed through their representatives, who made the case and won the day.”

Article title is off, IMO.

The Steward of Gondor in Lord of the Rings. He dabbles with dangerous magic seeking power over the ring which prematurely ages him, causing senility, depression and the loss of all hope. Tries to burn his unconscious son on a pyre and ultimately throws himself off the heights of the White City of Gondor.

Sort of like what Charles is doing here, LOL.

Inappropriate analogy. CK is attacking the ATTACKERS of the Tea Party for their cheap shots and stupidity.

He is not a big Tea Party fan but at least defends it from nutcases.

Krauthammer slams Tea Party attackers’ ‘lack of intelligence’
Tea Party attackers = people who attack the Tea Party.
attackers' : plural (more than one), possessive (ownership)
'lack of intelligence' is the direct quote which Krauthammer said.

Thus people who attack the Tea Party are stupid (lack intelligence).

I've voiced the same opinion and agree with you completely. I think we should bookmark your post and revisit it in 2012. I suspect we are spot-on. As for Krauthammer, I think his assessment is sincere; he truly believes the Tea Party "won" something here -- though clearly we have not "won" anything. The only accomplishment I see is that a "newborn" political entity flexed its muscle for the first time and caused a bit of a stir. Some in the new political entity drank the kool-aid, like Alan West, and some stayed true to their constituents, like Michelle Bachmann and Ron Johnson. The point to remember is that the Tea Party is still an infant. Just wait until 2012 after it packs on a little more muscle. Then watch the flexing begin. (Assuming, of course, the current administration is unable to late-term-abort us.)

Leftists make that mistake a lot.

I remember when the Dixie Chicks were a hot musical group. They had some cross-over appeal, but their fan base was basically C&W. Then the singer stood on stage and basically said, "We're ashamed of America. We're ashamed of George Bush. We're ashamed of the stupid rednecks who support George Bush. Oh! By the way! Our new record is coming out on Monday -- I hope you buy it!"

Oddly, enough, their fan base declined to do so.

Insulting large portions of the population is not a good way to get ahead in this world.

1) Charles himself insulted the Tea Party once upon a time.

2) These people are circulating talking points.

3) The Tea Party won nothing. Oh, I suppose we have the upper hand in debate but we always did. The country agrees on the majority with us with some reservations about cutting entitlements...but so what. When it really matters were the votes there? No, the new freshman sold us out. This is al going to crash and I will hav no ownership of it. The political class own this NOT the Tea Party and not conservatives.
