US SILENCE ON SYRIA
National Spotlight ^ | 8/4/11 | Derek Petrella

Posted on 08/04/2011 8:56:08 AM PDT by NationalSpotlight

As more people continue to die for freedom everyday in Syria, the US acts like nothing is happening. Since last weekend, the Syrian regime has launched attacks in Hama, which is 130 miles north of the capital of Damascus, killing at least 100 people. According to human rights organizations, about 1700 people have been killed since the attacks began in March.

The cautious European Union is enforcing more economic sanctions on Syria. The problem is that you do not push just sanctions on Syrian government officials, but also on the country's imports and exports. Even the UN Security Council condemned the violence in Syria. However, words are not enough. What we feared would be a killing spree in Libya is occurring in Syria. The country is on the brink of civil war.

Nothing is going to happen if the US does not take a leadership role over this crisis. There is no US leadership over the crisis in Libya and Muammar Gaddafi is still alive. Nothing is going to change when you hand the steering wheel to the UN and European countries. Everyone looks to the US to be the leader. Unfortunately, President Barack Obama does not know how to lead in anything. He likes to wait and see what will happen next. It is dangerous to have an executive who is just as indecisive and cautious as President Obama. The House and the Senate are on vacation while innocent people die for freedom. Where are the Republicans? Why are there no Congressmen or Senators criticizing President Obama's silence on Syria over the airwaves, online, and in the papers? Once Bashir al-Assad fully retains control over Syria, the world will look back and say where was the US? An opportunity to overthrow one of the most oppressive regimes in the Middle East will be missed.

This is silence is because Hillary is out having a make-over. That sort of thing takes weeks.

The reason is that Iran is OK with us attacking Kadaffi, not so if we attack Bashir al-Assad.

Socialist muslims killing fundamentalist muslims. I can’t get too worked up over that.

Thanks, SJ, that makes sense. But, still, what do you think about the deafening silence for the masses here? Probably to keep the enraged Left toned down against Obama?

This is what I wondered, are they really “fighting for freedom?”

Or is one Muslim group trying to take over another, like in Egypt, where is it just the Muslim Brotherhood on the rise, or Libya, where the Sunnis are after the Shias or vice versa?

I know. Everyone thinks the Democrats are for human rights but they are fake about it. If they were really for human rights they would do something about Syria and not have relationships with countries like Saudi Arabia that persecute their people.

Obama is afraid to even bluster when it comes to Syria. He fears an even more beligerent Iran. He doesn't even open his mouth about Iran helping to kill our troops in Afghanistan.

“Socialist muslims killing fundamentalist muslims. I can’t get too worked up over that.”

Nazi Germans killing Jewish Germans. Bet you couldn’t get too worked up over that either. But could you please keep your apathy to yourself and just go away?
