Pot-Smoking Teens Hear Secret Television Messages
The Winston Review ^ | August 9, 2011 | -TWR-

“Teenagers and young adults who use marijuana may be messing with their heads in ways they don’t intend,” reports Harvard Health Publications. Also:

Evidence is mounting that regular marijuana use increases the chance that a teenager will develop psychosis, a pattern of unusual thoughts or perceptions, such as believing the television is transmitting secret messages. It also increases the risk of developing schizophrenia, a disabling brain disorder that not only causes psychosis, but also problems concentrating and loss of emotional expression.

In one recent study that followed nearly 2,000 teenagers as they became young adults, young people who smoked marijuana at least five times were twice as likely to have developed psychosis over the next 10 years as those who didn’t smoke pot.

The so-called health benefits of “medical marijuana” could offset any positives, costing taxpayers billions. But the social cost is immeasurable.

Don’t smoke pot but the TV keeps giving me secret messages anyway that Obama is a dumbass. I keep telling it, “that’s no secret.”

There is no way to tell what they claim from the study they performed.

An equally likely explanation is that teenagers susceptible to mental disorders are ALSO more likely to be frequent marijuana smokers.

The only way to show what they claim was if you took teenagers and randomly separated them into two groups - had one group smoke marijuana frequently - and the other not do so - and THEN look at the frequency of mental illness.

Correlation is not causation.

Funny.... after reading the thread title, I was thinking that the story would report that smoking pot was enabling them to hear or detect secret messages that nobody else could hear.

Like those funny sunglasses that allows you to see the aliens.

I'd be disappointed if they didn't hear secret messages after smoking of the noble weed.

What if the pot heads turn off the TV and the TV is still telling them things? Is that a problem, too?

Anyone else notice the rash of 60’s celebrity deaths due to brain cancer?

Coincidence that the generation that popularized pot smoking is now dying from brain cell issues?

Doesn’t it enable you to hear secret messages? I think it does.

I think it enables you to hear spiritual ones... from the dark side.

A few years ago this thread would have attracted a bunch of angry Paulbots. Where have all the Paulbots gone?

That explains why the potheads I’ve known, laugh their heads off like it’s the funniest show they’ve ever seen, regardless of what’s on. They are getting the funny messages I’m missing.

“In before the “but it’s not as bad as alcohol” crowd.”

I always get a kick out of that argument. Like a second multi-thousand killer and stupid machine doesn’t matter.

A kick in the head; is it worse than a kick in the groin? Would you rather have just one, or both? And if both, why?

Their strategy this year is to not discuss issues they know hurt them and focus on nothing but economics. They are trying to bury all their negatives.

Maybe they heard secret messages on TV warning them not to be such a-holes.
