“Converj?
Sounds like that other big winner by GM,
the CORVAIR.”
IMO, the Corvair gets a bad rap. For one, Nader never said a damn thing about the Triumph Spitfire, Mercedes 300SL, or any Volkswagen built before ‘68, and all of these cars were equipped with swing-axle rear suspensions just like the ‘60-’64 Corvair. The ‘65-’69 car did have a proper IRS setup similar to that in the Corvette of the same era.
But GM really should have equipped the car with a front swaybar from the beginning (it became factory equipment in ‘62, IIRC).
In that case, they should call it the Cadillac Voltvo.
The largest single buyer of the Chevy Volt is the US government which placed a bulk order for 200 of them a few months ago. That newly formed Congressional spending cuts committee can start with this one budget item.No more new taxes and no more new Volts.
Does anyone remember GM’s diesel that they put in a Caddy?
How about calling it the Watt and have it come in two trim levels:
The Hell Were We Thinking
The EFF
The Catera was an Opel Senator , a GREAT car ,, equal to the MBZ C class ,, especially the last 2 years it was imported when the sport package was standard.
When they came out, I was at the dealer getting my DeVille worked on. I took it on a test drive out of curiosity. I recall it was plasticy inside and under performed. Of course I was driving a Northstar which is hard to beat and they may not have had the sport package on the early ones. Beyond that I thought it was ugly. At least the C class had nice lines and was a solid little car.
