Being yelled at while carrying!!

I have been sick with the flu and I haven't left my house in 5 days. Today I felt a little better even though I still have a cough and I decided to go to my local Smiths grocery store located on Eastern and Windmill. A little back story here. I have been shopping here since I moved to Henderson almost 3 years ago. I pretty much know everybody who works there. Anyways I was giving the butcher my order when I hear a woman's voice say "excuse me sir, I have a concerned shopper." I responded with "well that doesn't sound too fun." It turns out she is the head manager and she smiled at my response even though we both knew what it was all about. She then asked if I had a permit and I explained that in Nevada you don't have to have one but that it is registered and I am legally carrying. She said o.k. and started to walk away.

Whew! What a relief! Last time there was a concerned shopper Henderson PD met me outside for one of the shortest police encounters I have ever had. Still feeling like crap and waiting for the butcher to wrap my stuff up I hear a mans voice now. "YOU CAN'T JUST COME IN HERE WITH A GUN!" Well the manager is still next to me and the look on her face was priceless. He continues with his rant loud enough for everyone to hear, "WE NEED HENDERSON POLICE HERE, THIS IS AMERICA, YOU CAN'T JUST CARRY A GUN AND GET GROCERIES! WE HAVE LAWS!" This guy is mad. Almost comically mad. His wife is giving the look of "hey I don't know this guy". The manager tells him to calm down. The butcher is now fumbling my meat behind the counter and everyone is staring at us!

I start to grow a smile for some reason. Maybe it was because this guy is getting trolled so bad, or maybe because we still have freedoms and people like this guy who want to take away our Rights are dullards and lunatics. I don't want to look like an ******* or agitate this encounter or make OC'rs look like ****** so I didn't respond at first. I just wanted my meat and to get home and lie down. I finally get my order from the butcher and thank him. As I'm walking away liberal law school Larry gets out his cell phone and threatens me that I shouldn't go anywhere and that the police are on their way. I responded with "well, let me know how that works out for you" with a smile. The manager tells us that she will go look the law up herself and notify HPD if I am breaking any laws. As she starts to walk away she smiles at me and gives me a wink!

An aisle over I can still hear this guy. He is a genius. He is talking to his wife explaining that he knows you can have a gun in public but you can't go into private business. It is illegal and he knows it! With all that excitement I forgot to get lettuce. I told my sister the story and she said she would return to the store for me since I didn't feel well. She asked the manager on her way out if the police ever showed up. The manager told her nope. They only called the store to ask if everything was o.k. because they got a call about a man with a gun. The manager told them everything was o.k. and that was the end of that.

I think that says a lot when HPD calls first to see if it is a problem before wasting everyones time and safety racing to the scene of a MWAG call. It also feels good that guns are still acceptable here and thanks to the hard work and activism from a lot of the members here who I do not always agree with, I can still exercise my freedoms. Oh how I do not miss California at all.

“And probably engages in procreation activities.”

Ain’t it amazing that you have to have a license to own and carry a gun (or own a dog, drive a car, operate a business, etc.) but they’ll let any assho!e vote and have kids?

No kidding!

People like this asshole need to have a sign on their car and in front of their house that says “UNARMED” in English and Spanish.

Nice!

Unfortunately can’t put a sign in somebody else’s yard without their permission. However, that doesn’t prevent a neighbor from putting a sign in their own yard (with an arrow pointing at knucklehead’s house).

LOL, I live in WNY and a friend and I had a similar incident a few years back in downtown Buffalo. My friend is a Parole officer and late one evening we stopped into a well known Steak sandwich shop in an “artsy” area called Allen Town. So after about 5 minutes or so, we while we are waiting, I notice that this nice looking late 20-30ish gal, wispering into her phone and getting up from her seat near us and walking to the door. She leaves the store and my attention focuses back to our food being made.

A few minutes go by and this woman comes walking back into the store with 2 police officers. She then points to us and says loudly, that guy. We both look at each other puzzled and look back at the now approaching officers. One tells us to keep our hands out of pocket and in-sight, then asks us to step outside. My freind asks “what’s up officer”. They repeated “outside!”

Once outside, the one officer asks us if either of us has any weapons and suddenly that lady starts yelling and pointing to my friend. My friend then tells the officer that he does, that he is a State officer, and that his badge is in his pocket. The cop reaches into his pocket, pulls out the badge and ID, looks at my friend and hands it back to him. He then asked me the same—I wasn’t carrying.

So the officers tell us to have a nice day to which this woman starts screaming at the top of her lungs, “aren’t you going to arrest them or something?” We walked back in to get our food while the cops continued their discussion with the now frantically waving woman. Pretty much everyone else in there just looked on in amusement the entire time. LOL. We decided to eat inside, to avoid her, and she had disappeared by the time we left.

My friend was kind upset that the woman even saw his gun in the first place. He thinks it printed through his pants when he bent down to pick up some change he had dropped.

The liberal should have been threatened with disturbing the peace.

LOL

So true!

My elderly neighbors don’t carry, but then again they do not mind at all that I do. I wouldn’t hesitate to cover them if need be.

I was in a gun store yesterday looking in the case from behind other people who were looking and carrying on a conversation with one guy behind the counter. The guy said something to the effect of” “people who open carry are morons.” I was OCing my Kimber and let everyone know this....the guy looked and the people in the first row turned around.

The guy went on to say that it was tactically foolish to OC. I said show me the stories of people who OC who are jumped. I could show you a dozed such stories for CC, but not for OC in the past 6 months.

The danger of OCing is like the Lch Ness Monster.....much ballyhood but nver backed up with facts.

Oh, absolutely. I feel the same way about my neighbors. I was referring to the douche from the story. Would love to know where he lives and have a conversation with his neighbors because he sounds like the type of idiot who’s hated by his entire neighborhood.

Remember, 18% of the 39% are people who say they support President Obama, just because they are afraid of being considered racist, even though they plan on voting differently at the polls.
