From all appearances, Palin and Perry like and respect each other and I don't see them getting into the gutter.
Neither one of them really has much control over what their supporters can say or do.
The only thing either of them could do is maybe condemn one of their supporters doing something tacky like say, putting an ad in a newspaper asking the general public to report things about their sex lives.
We all hope things will stay civil, but we also know from experience that they won't.
If the candidates themselves can stay above the fray, that should be acceptable.
And to boot “the quitter Sarah Palin” endorsed Rick Perry and helped to propel him over the goal line in the GOP gubernatorial primary vote by helping Perry get 51% of the vote and avoid a run-off.
If Sarah hadn’t “quit” she may not have had as much impact on the Perry race and I think an argument could be made Perry might not have reached the magic 50% mark in the race and therefore may have faced the general election against White in a weakened condition.
