Byron York at the Washington Examiner: Without running, Palin stays near top of GOP field:
There’s a near consensus among Washington insiders that Sarah Palin will not run for president. But a new poll suggests the former Alaska governor would become an instant force in the race if she did choose to run.

Ed Morrissey at Hot Air: Palin: Obama now a Lame Duck President:
Palin also warns the House leadership not to “get wobbly on us now,” but says that the main problem with Obama is that he “leads from behind.”

Sarah Palin to keynote September “tea party” gathering in Iowa:
The former Alaska governor will headline a major “tea party” gathering in Iowa in September, just as the Republican nomination fight begins in earnest. Tea Party of America Wednesday announced Palin’s participation in the Sept. 3 “Restoring America” event.
“We don’t need a ‘fundamental transformation’ of America. We need a restoration of all that is good and strong and free,” Palin says in the group’s news release. “The 2012 election will be a great debate between those two conflicting visions for our country.”
“Gov. Palin embodies the spirit of public service that our founders believed was essential to the survival of our liberties and our republic itself,” Charlie Gruschow, Tea Party of America’s co-founder, said in the release. “We couldn’t be more delighted to have this citizen leader who represents the values that Iowans and Americans hold so dear.”
Paul Bedard in U.S. News: Why Palin, Bachmann Have Plenty of Time for Their Kids:
GOP pollster Kellyanne Conway has an answer for those who think Palin, Bachmann, or other women with children don’t have enough time to raise them while serving in public office.
“As far as I can tell, she doesn’t have a boyfriend. So right there it frees up like 15 extra hours a week,” she says of Palin, with a swipe at the parade of male politicians caught in affairs.
“And she doesn’t play golf,” adds Conway. “That’s like seven hours every Saturday, eight hours every Sunday because there’s always a brunch involved. I just gave her 30 extra hours a week. These kids will be fine.”

The Right Scoop: Rush: We Are All Sarah Palin Now:
I don’t want to hear any more crap from Democrats about civility! I don’t want to be preached to one more time by these holier than thou, better than everybody else, smarter than everybody else craven villains about civility!
I have to tell you folks and I know I am not alone, I am mad as all get out [that] the Democrats and their cohorts in the drive-bys have collectively ratcheted up this divisive, uncivil, reactionary language to trash the Tea Party and by extension conservatives. We’re not terrorists! We’re not killing people! We are Americans who disagree with YOU! We are Americans who disagree with statism! We are Americans who disagree with socialism, communism, and liberalism! We’re not holding anybody hostage, we ARE the hostages!
Associated Press: Ethics complaint against Sarah Palin dismissed:
Alaska officials have dismissed an ethics complaint filed against former Gov. Sarah Palin that alleged she violated state law because the TLC docu-series Sarah Palin’s Alaska took advantage of a state film production incentives program she signed into law.
Just part of the relentless targeting which caused her to quit the governorship to save Alaska (and herself) the time, trouble, and funds to defend herself.

Palin at Facebook: Conquering the Storm:
Back in December 2010, I wrote: If the European debt crisis teaches us anything, its that tomorrow always comes. Sooner or later, the markets will expect us to settle the bill for the enormous Obama-Pelosi-Reid spending binge. Weve already been warned by the credit ratings agency Moodys that unless we get serious about reducing our deficit, we may face a downgrade of our credit rating. And again in January, in response to President Obamas State of the Union address I wrote: With credit ratings agency Moodys warning us that the federal government must reverse the rapid growth of national debt or face losing our triple-A rating, keep in mind that a nation doesnt look so great when its credit rating is in tatters.
One doesnt need a Harvard Law degree to figure this out! Just look across the pond at Europe. European nations with less debt and smaller deficits than ours and with real austerity plans in place to deal with them have had their ratings downgraded. By what magical thinking did we figure we could run up perpetual trillion dollar deficits and still somehow avoid the unforgiving mathematics of a downgrade? Nothing is ever too big to fail. And theres no such thing as a free lunch. Didnt we all learn that in our micro and macro econ classes? I did at the University of Idaho. How could Obama skip through Columbia and Harvard without learning that?
Six Reasons Sarah Palin May Be Delaying Her Entry Into the Presidential Race. Number one reason? She’s the only GOP candidate who can wait. Five more are worth reading too.
You Can Expect the Unexpected Department:
Surprise: Palin’s bus tour to roll into Iowa this week:
After a nearly three-month hiatus, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is planning to crash the presidential party once again with a heartland-themed re-launch of her “One Nation” bus tour this week in Iowa, according to a Palin fundraising email obtained by CNN.
Palin is bringing her Constitution-themed bus to the Iowa State Fair, just 30 miles south of where the Republican presidential field will take the stage on Thursday for a presidential debate in Ames.
Riehl World View: Why Sarah Palin Needs To Run For President In 2012:
While always open to the idea of one day supporting Sarah Palin for president, since 2008, I’ve gone back and forth on whether or not I thought it was smart for her to run next year. Re-visiting my thoughts yesterday, what with Palin’s appearance in Iowa, not only am I convinced she should run, she needs to run and, regardless of one’s preferred candidate, all Conservatives should encourage her to run and welcome her into the race, assuming she does.
Put aside the purely Republican primary politics of it for a moment. Also, I’m not endorsing her, or anyone at this point. But what happened in Iowa yesterday was electric, not just for any Palin faithful, but for many Conservatives and especially the media. For better, or worse, Sarah Palin has star power — whatever that is. But she does have it; that’s for sure.
Palin Makes ABC Reporter Wait for Heifer. That would be Jake Tapper, which makes it even richer.

Except hers is a tribute to the Constitution and his is a Batman-style black behemoth.
Palin at Facebook: A Humbling Reminder of Our Duty:
Now its back to Alaska for the start of the school year. (And, of course, our annual visit to our own state fair where Piper looks forward to clogging on the Blue Bonnet Stage!) While kids crack open their school books, I look forward to continuing my own writing and research on strategies and plans to help move our country forward.
We will be back on the road soon, for on September 3rd weve been invited to a big Tea Party Restoring America rally in Waukee, Iowa. We hope to see many of you there as we gather to discuss the direction of our country and the way forward with our fundamental restoration of all that is good and strong and free in America. Sarah Palin Iowa Organizer: “She’ll Run”
Watch the Iowa Passion ad and tell us what you think! I’m betting yes.
The sun will rise in the east and
set in the west.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
appreciate the timeline :).
I agree with your assessment.
Wouldn’t that be a sly poke in the eye to ol McCain, and a perfect way to reestablish credibility on the political front?
That Sarah Palin will give a speech in Iowa......barring unforseen circumstances.........
Well, we have to wait and see. She will get my vote at least in our primary, if she runs for President
Yep. She would be able to avoid insulting McClame out of her gratitude for his naming her Veep beside him and his continued refusal to criticize her while being a thorn in his side by arguing for true conservative principles in the Senate. At the same time, it would burnish her already strong credentials by letting her deal with national issues . . . two years a governor is fair, but 2 years a governor and 6 a Senator suddenly becomes outstanding. Sarah as grown prodigiously in her sophistication and suitability for the Presidency, but she could still use a bit more experience. Becoming a Senator would provide that and she would still be able to jump for the 2020 campaign—and I believe win easily by then.
It’s a beautiful scenario!
She’s gonna start kicking a$$ and taking names (hopefully).
What’s important about September 3? THE FIRST WEEKEND OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL. Wuz there something else as well?
We’ve had a couple of successful senators-turned-presidents so this is a sound strategy./sarc
Not even close. Perry can rabble rouse, but he doesn't inspire like Palin. We've yet to see him fill arenas to overflowing like Palin does, or have such an enormous level of grass roots support. He can talk the talk, but he doesn't walk the walk like she does, either.
He's the new flavor of the week in the Republican primary, and has gained points from the natural spike of early interest and curiosity. Most folks haven't yet vetted the man, and don't really know him. That will change, as the weeks and months roll on.
Yeah. LOL! You just keep telling yourself that, someday you might even believe it yourself. Have a nice self-delusion filled life.

Rick Perry AGREES with Obama: Open Borders for America!
(Video: Please favorite, share, comment, everyone needs to see this fast.)
l here is Perry’s position on open borders:
Sept 4th 2011 the Left and media will be in full moonbat/rabid dog attack on her.
Oh, and Obama will be playing a round of golf and making college foot ball picks to make up for leaving Martha's Vineyard early.
IOW...same old, same old.
Gonna shock you, I agree with you on Rick Perry.
Don’t bother trying to reason with the Rickbots, they make Paulbots look good in comparison. It’s like talking to a wall.
And the last thing our Republic can take is another pay-to-play, big government crony capitalist. To put Perry together with Congress would be a complete disaster.
The GOP would also be out on its keister again in no time. Deservedly, but even an earnest independent tea party effort would probably just put the Dems in power again.
Denial and ridicule won’t boost your candidate, my friend.
You seem to be all in, and betting the farm on a horse who’s never run a major race. Good luck with that, but I’d just try to be cautiously optimistic at this point, if I were you.
It’s very early, and the real race hasn’t even begun. We have yet to see whether Perry is a real thoroughbred.
I’ve read the transcript of that Perry speech, and it’s disturbing.
Perry supporters claim that he was speaking about a hypothetical future in which there’s no need for Mexicans to illegally cross into our country. That’s all fine and dandy, except, when Perry made that speech, such a future was scarcely imaginable. It still isn’t. That country is broken, and there’s no evidence that it will ever fix itself.
It was an ill-advised statement at best, and pandering at worst.
I’ll be happy if Palin throws her hat in the ring September 3rd.
However it’s the weekend before 9/11.
If she chooses not to compete with that anniversary, I’ll gladly wait.
So what's your deal? Do you just dislike all of the leading contenders, or are you leaning toward any of them?
I can't agree more. Perry has never shown the first sign of being the type of revolutionary reformer/outsider that this country needs in the White House. He knows how to play one on the campaign trail, but once he's back in office, it's back to big government, crony politics as usual.
At best, the man's a center-right Moderate. He's not a firebrand crusader who will take a wrecking ball to the establishment status quo in Washington. He'll fit right in with that culture.
Absolutely hilarious coming from a renowned palinite.
I’ve only ever seen you post on Palin threads. Whining.
Yep, I’m still trusting in people to see through him once they see enough of him, but it is disturbing to see him rise in the polls like this.
(I’m praying for Palin.)
Just to be perverse, I’m going to go with her not saying either “yes” or “no” just yet - but then vigorously attacking Obama and his administration as corrupt and incompetent. Just imagine her talking loudly about Gunwalker... how could the MSM ignore it, and her, then?
People will come back down to earth as they begin to sort the wheat from the chaff about Perry's record. He hasn't even begun to be vetted by the public yet, and the press is only just starting to examine his record.
We'll see how he fares when he's subjected to a full Palinoscopy.
That's a rare compliment, coming from you. Thank you!
Oh, Perry managed to beat all of the liberal Dems, RINOs, Truthers, and wack job comedians he ran against. No question about that, but it's a mighty poor endorsement of his ability to compete on a national level against solid conservatives (of which he is not).
Perry's got the bona fides that Palin only wishes she had.
Heh... Now, that's just plain funny - I don't care who you are ;-)
Palin's favorables with Republicans and Pubbie leaning Indies is 78%.
The past couple of years she has been telling everybody elses story. I want to see what happens when SHE gets to tell her own story.
Whatever Palin does and when, she will do it her way.
Dream on that she is not running, she will let you, and us, know when she is good and ready.
Awesome. So basic.
From Sarah's Aug. 8 facebook post
So, is Palin() a thoroughbred?
Texans as a whole are very jingoistic, and not very bright.
So running as a "good ole' boy" against the lefties there is like taking votes from baby, so to speak.
But the kind of swagger which plays in Texas does not play in the rest of the (higher-IQ) states.
And given that Perry's been around Texas long enough to have ensconced a number of his peeps, thereby making him an insider (big fish in a statewide pond) --
it makes the superiority of Sarah (cleaned out the corruption in her own party) all the more glaringly obvious.
Thanks for posting this, Windflier.
... I'll get popcorn.
This is one of Sarah's strengths. So much has been thrown at her that she can just laugh at the barbs now, and cheerfully answer. She's already thrown all of the accusations back in the faces of those who made them, and voiced her indignation at the times those were made. Now she can just say as Ronald Reagan did, "There they go again".
He's got to survive the coming Palinoscopy. We'll see whether he does, or not. Methinks it's gonna hurt...
What's Palin got to do with this? I was talking about Rick Perry.
She really gets to you, doesn't she?
Sheeesh..... not good way to state your case, my man. I'll give ya a mulligan, because you're one of the good guys.
All I can say is that Texas seems to go through life with a chip on its shoulder, backed up by a willingness to pick fights for little or no reason.
Must be the Scots blood extant down there.
I'm up in Minnesota, where in contrast to their Viking forbears, most of the men are extremely metrosexual. During the World Series in 1991, there was a big banner in the Metrodome with a snow-covered apple on it, which read, "We prefer the Minne-apple."
As Syndrome said in The Incredibles, "Lame, Lame, Lame, Lame, Lame!"
But the women here -- land of 10,000 blondes. I married one (the legendary Mrs. Whiskers).
But I still prefer -20oF to 104o F and humid: I went to visit Texas once on business (in July I think) and I knew I was in trouble when the car at the airport had its AC pre-set to max *and* recycle the moment I climbed in...
