SMART METERS: THE NEW SILENT KILLERS (Part 1 of 2)
Liberty News ^ | September 2, 2011 | Staff

“The electromagnetic field is the perfect secret agent: you cannot see it, you cannot smell it, you cannot hear it, and its effects are slow but relentless.” -By Volter Hertenstein, MP Bavarian Parliament

I ask NWVs to post this column on a Friday because it does require many hours of reading to fully understand the issue. By necessity, this new column is two parts as I'm trying, as I did in my first column, to put as much credible information all together in one place to make it easier for everyone fighting this new silent killer. We're all pressed for time. Thank you to everyone who sent in reference material in our efforts to share the truth and what we can do to stop this madness.

There is a major war being waged in this country, although you'd never know it by the silence from the old, disgraced media (ABC, CBS, NBC) and all the cable "news" networks. This new assault on our bodies and privacy is over another relatively new piece of technology that allegedly will save energy; it will also cost tens of thousands of jobs for meter readers. When I say millions of Americans are up in arms over this, I am not exaggerating.

If you are unfamiliar with this issue, please read my first column first on this to get a full understanding of how dangerous those 'smart meters' are and why you don't want one on your home or business.

The inverse square law rules! There simply is no comparison of a milliwatt transmitter in your backyard whose signal may travel a block or two, and a 1 watt cell phone held an inch from the head.

I would not worry about this, just accept the discount.

I can’t reply to your post, for some reason........ It takes me back to the beginning of the article.

But, Randy - here is some information I got tonight:

“Smart Meters” violate the law and cause endangerment to residents by the following factors:

1. They individually identify electrical devices inside the home and record when they are operated causing invasion of privacy.

2. They monitor household activity and occupancy in violation of rights and domestic security.

3. They transmit wireless signals which may be intercepted by unauthorized and unknown parties. Those signals can be used to monitor behavior and occupancy and they can be used by criminals to aid criminal activity against the occupants.

4. Data about occupant’s daily habits and activities are collected, recorded and stored in permanent databases which are accessed by parties not authorized or invited to know and share that private data.

5. Those with access to the smart meter databases can review a permanent history of household activities complete with calendar and time-of-day metrics to gain a highly invasive and detailed view of the lives of the occupants.

6. Those databases may be shared with, or fall into the hands of criminals, blackmailers, law enforcement, private hackers of wireless transmissions, power company employees, and other unidentified parties who may act against the interests of the occupants under metered surveillance.

7. “Smart Meters” are, by definition, surveillance devices which violate Federal and State wiretapping laws by recording and storing databases of private and personal activities and behaviors without the consent or knowledge of those people who are monitored.

8. It is possible for example, with analysis of certain “Smart Meter” data, for unauthorized and distant parties to determine medical conditions, sexual activities, physical locations of persons within the home, vacancy patterns and personal information and habits of the occupants.

Do I want the data base of my daily living available to a hacker that wants to know how many times I flush my toilet - or have sex? Of COURSE not!

I am going to call my electric company first thing Tuesday morning (Monday is a holiday) and forbid them from installing this. AAAAaaaargh!

Is this for real? Don’t tell me you believe that the smart meters are killing you. I’ll bet that you also believe the mercury in the vaccine is causing autism and CO2 is causing globull warming.

PG&E came on to my property and installed one when my wife and I were at work. No prior permission or any type of correspondence whatsoever. They just did it and to hell with what I thought about it!
That truly sucks. Good, bad or indifferent, you should have been consulted on what gets put on YOUR property.

Luv, I just found out about this tonight. I am apalled at the consequences, the intrusion, and the violation of the Fourteenth Amendment to our Constitution - guaranteeing the privacy of a home and family.

I called both my kids, and told them my recommendation was to call their electric company on Tuesday, and tell them that for health reasons, they wish to not have it installed (or get it uninstalled).

Just the fact that the results compiled (unsecured) by the electric company can be hacked into MY residence, if wanted by ANYbody - is extremely offensive to me.

BIG BROTHER - you are NOT welcome here!

I hope that report is in error, but I guess it’s always a good thing to err on the side of safety. I’m really surprised that the EPA, who love to shut down new innovations, haven’t stepped in somehow if there is a problem.

I feel invaded enough every time the Zero is on TV. :)

There is soooo much misinformation and hysterical reaction to all of this.

If they came out and installed a meter without tearing into your house wiring (which I am certain they did not), then the only purpose this type of ‘smart meter’ could serve would be:

1. Automating the reading of your meter.

2. Making it possible to monitor your power usage by day-part. This in turn would allow them to offer you plans based on your peak power consumption (or, to view it negatively, increase the rates for high peak power consumption).

The smart meter may or may not have a wireless communication link, which would go to some wireless access point in the neighborhood, owned by the power company.

The people who are fomenting fear over this type of meter either have an agenda or are just plain nuts. Probably the ringleaders are in it for money or publicity, and the ones they convince are the nuts.

The more common kind of smart meter doesn’t even have a wireless component; it sends and receives its data over the power lines themselves.

Well, Erasmus - if you don't mind having 'anyone' who wants to know how many times you flush your toilet, or turn on your tv (and which channel you watch), or what time you turn on your oven OR know when (and how often you and your wife are intimate,) then, sweetie - you go for it.

Personally - it is WAY too invasive for me - this administration has already taken away so many of my Constitutional rights. I will stop them, any way I can.

You’re right and you’re wrong: I measured my new “smart meter” that the electric company put in recently and found it gave off 10 milligauss at 6 inches (which IS ALOT), but at 15 feet away there was no measurable reading (it drops at some power [square?] of the distance).

Unless you sleep next to the device, there shouldn’t be any interference. Besides, there’s no scientific consensus that electro-magnetic fields are cancer causing. Several studies on interference of cellphones from Scandanavian countries pointed in that direction, but there are other studies that don’t show any causation.

Cheap cell phones given to little children are another matter. Because children are more susceptible to brain cancer, their walking and talking on cellphones held up against their ear could be a problem. In my testing I’ve found that many of the ugly bluetooth ear receivers eliminate nearly all of the EMF.

I didn’t like the polite but secretive meter reader installing the “new electricity meter” (aka smart meter), but I think the major problem with them would occur when the Democrats shut down power generators and they just cut back your electricity fait accompli.

I’d focus more on getting away from the grid and getting little kids to wear those Bluetooth ear receivers and to not get scoliosis by carrying 200 pound school book bags.

Good gaussmeters can be bought for around $100. Mine is made by AlphaLab in Utah. Its a lot of fun to measure friend’s microwave cookers, old electric typewriters, cellphones. When bored, you can always put it on your car’s dashboard and drive under the big power lines and watch the meter peg.

You seriously need to cut the tinfoil out of your diet. I hate to break this to you man, but smart meters can’t do any of the things you mentioned. I especially liked the one about flushing the toilet btw, yeah, that’s believable. lol.

Well, who is surprised at the fact that someone who refused to give ANY information that other candidates and elected officials have been made to reveal would have shennanegans and illegal activity going on within the family tree!

2011 canNOT come soon enough! *sigh*

I’m guessing by your post that you don’t mind the fact that your home is now under the ‘Big Brother’ monitor. (And unprotected from ‘hackers’).

Personally, Hop - I have NOTHING to hide - but just the idea that someone uninvited can be ‘in my home’ - is very intrusive to me, and a violation of my right to protection from invasion of privacy.

Oh. Dear. God. Not another tinfoil-hat smart-meter hate thread.

Look, I design them for a living. No, they won't hurt you. Yes, you are anonymous. No, people can't spy on you through the electric/gas/water meter.

Any questions?

If your gaussmeter measures an H field accurately at 900 or 2.4 GHz, I want a) the model number, and b) the stock ticker symbol of the company who makes it, because they are gonna make BAZILLIONS.

Of course, no such instrument exists, and your gaussmeter is useless for such purposes. You should be using a field strength meter.
