Harbor Beach Community Schools paid one teacher tens of thousands of dollars to leave, despite the teacher getting caught kissing some students and head-locking one after being confronted for his behavior. Dearborn Public Schools paid four teachers a total of $197,353 to get rid of them after charges of sexual misconduct and possession of illegal substances on school grounds. Gladwin Community Schools has dished out about $40,000 thus far in a legal case against a kindergarten teacher arraigned on charges of furnishing alcohol for minors.
These are a few of at least 156 tenure cases brought by Michigan public school districts over the past five years. These 156 cases cost school districts and taxpayers at least $7.7 million to cover the costs of removing, or attempting to remove, tenured teachers.

Ouch! I admit, I’m pretty bad at making hiring decisions, and, I’m pretty sure I fire about 70% of office administrators I hire, and probably 80% of sales reps! I can’t even imagine how screwed our business would be if I had to keep them all on board.
Clearly this proof that tenure and the union system works perfectly, since those given tenure are so good as to almost never need to be fired!
The problem, obviously, is with the untenured teachers - we just need to let the unions run even more of the educational system and it would dramatically improve as well, such that no teacher is ever fired - which must mean they are the perfect teacher for whatever role they fill.

It must be great to work there. There are tons of teachers getting laid off all over the country. It is more common to see a fired teacher than not. Now I don’t know if the teachers getting fired or laid off are tenure or not though.

Yes, this is perfect liberal logic. These statistics prove that if the tenure and union system were extended into private education as well as higher education, everything would be hunky dory. I realize tenure already exists in American universities, but the reality is that the lion’s share of teaching these days is done by non-tenure track adjuncts who certainly are not unionized. http://www.aft.org/pdfs/highered/aa_partimefaculty0310.pdf
California must have different students than many of the ‘students’in the Miami area schools. Any teacher caught kissing one of those things needs psychiatric care, and probably will need to be kept in a darkened rubber room for years.
Some of the things seen in those classrooms are not just illegal aliens, they ARE aliens.
Forget about passports, ask about DNA proof of species ID.
On the other hand, thanks to multi-culturalism and Liberalism, we must understand all forms of ‘love’. The nice Liberal told us so.
