URGENT Help for Golden Retriever Needed in Tulsa [Update at #11]
email

Posted on 09/08/2011 3:43:55 AM PDT by nuconvert

Does anyone have any connections in Tulsa, OK? Koda needs transport to Denver tomorrow, or somewhere to stay out of the shelter tomorrow night. Misha May has a foster home if we can get him here! HELP! 12 hours one way by car - anyone have connection to an airplane?

Koda is a 7 yr old, neutered Golden Retriever who needs rescue out of his Tulsa OK shelter by tomorrow (Thursday) AM or he will be euthanized. He has a very sweet disposition... loves people, kids, other dogs and cats.

This was passed along to me. Thought I'd see if anyone here might be able to help. He sounds like a wonderful dog.

Even if you can only provide a temporary place for him to stay until he can be picked up.

Please pass this along to Oklahoma FReepers. Thank you.

Passed this along to my friends in the Midwest. I’m in Chicago, and health stops me from driving there. But maybe one of my friends know someone that can help. My 9 yr old Golden is pulling for Koda.

What is the problem that no one local wants the dog?

I don’t really know, unless there has been no publicity in Tulas.

Maybe you could get the dog here temporarily until you can find something more permanent. It is a no-kill shelter.

7 is considered a senior and he’s a big dog. That combination is harder to place. The shelter may be overcrowded & have a strict 2wk policy on holding animals before euthanizing them. Just guessing

Did you send this to Joe Six Pack? He runs the doggie/kitty ping. He can get it out to everyone listed for that. Just a thought and I hope he gets a home!

Wrong Joe 6-Pack. I pinged the correct one. :-)

Slings and Arrows runs the kittyping list, FYI.

I was out of town until today, and just saw this or I would have responded sooner. There is a golden retriever rescue in OK City and I’m sure I could have gotten a local contact for you. I’m glad there was someone to help locally. There are golden retriever rescues virtually all over the US. Please let me know if you run into this sort of thing again and I will do my best to put you into contact, and if you don’t get a response from me quickly (we do take a big trip every year and while I’m usually able to get online this time I was no out of pocket most of the trip) you can also check out the Golden Retriever Club of America’s website, they list all of the Rescue’s around the country as well.
Glad this had a happy ending!
