I dont get why we care? so what if they say they are a state. Maybe then they would act like one.
If they don’t “act” like one now, there’s no reason for them to “act’ like one if they get statehood. All out war and bloodshed with an ally is the reason most people care.
There is no such county as “Palestine”, there never was.
Comment: The Palestinians’ illegitimate UN gambit
I wish they would and the next day all that decide to live within the borders of "their" state can experience the power and excellence of the IAF before those Palestinian terrorists orgy with their 72 virgins.
Because as far as they are concerned, their “state” encompasses all of Israel, from the Jordan to the sea, and they will, at once, go to war with those interloper Jews.
For the same reason the U.S. cannot tolerate secession by a state.
Terrorists don't care if they have a state or not, they will still insist on killing because it is what they "live" for.
The Palestinians who are good people live within the borders of Israel with content.
Could someone please explain to me, if a group of people has the ability and function to declare themselves a state, why they should care what that collection of zoo exhibits on the East River in Manhattan declares or doesn’t declare.
PLO and Hammas are Terrorists. State run terrorism is the outcome of recognition.
No one sane wants that for Israel!
because the world will recognize most of Israel as Palestinian land?
If they were a State maybe they wouldn’t pretend “Pls” is a word.
They might even learn when to capitalize.
Maybe you should try to be a State. Or at least semi-literate.
Because ALL the leaders of the Palestinians have as their #1 priority the destruction of Israel.
All they have to do is pledge to live at peace with their neighbors and they can become a state.
Among some of the good reasons posted above - there are agreements in place on how and when a “Pali State” can be recognized and - this ain’t it
“There is no such county as Palestine, there never was.”
Once there was a Poland. Then, for about 130 years, there was no Poland. Then it disappeared for 5 years. Then it came back.
countries come and go. I don’t like the Palestinians, and I think their leaders are ghouls, but they have as much right to declare themselves a nation as anybody else.
Our ancestors settled in America, fought the Indians, manhy died because of the diseases we brought, and we created a nation that never previously existed.
I read something earlier this year here...about how “Palestine” got its name....had to do with a PALEOntology study going on in that area.....nothing more....I’ll go see if I bookmarked it.
“Because every time Israel would retaliate for a rocket attack or some other terrorist act originating in the Palestinian State, the Palestinian state could claim invasion!”
Actually, the first time the “Palestinian state” fires a rocket or mortar shell, it would be an act of war and Israel could hold “Palestine” collectively responsible as a state. When you’re held collectively responsible, it means retaliation can be directed against ANY military-related asset, including industries, infrastructures, and port facilities in your “country.”
A lot of Israel’s oil and gas and potential oil and gas in the Mediterranean would be in Palestine’s territorial waters.
To compare Palestinians to the Polish people is a real insult to Poland and the Polish.
Seriously, if you don’t know we should care, maybe you need to come out of your mommies basement and try to understand the real world
The second the UN ratifies the PA as a “state” the ME explodes
It would become the number one terrorist haven and training ground in the world, right next door to Israel.
but not only do they want to be a “state (i.e. a nation!)”, they want UN membership status! Which would mean any Israel retaliation would drag that useless organization even further into the mix.
we created a nation that never previously existed.
Because it isn’t their land. Most Palestinians are refugees from the Lebanon and Syria civil wars as well as infiltrators from neighboring countries using Israel as a political football.
Them becoming a state would be akin to illegals here declaring that half of Texas belongs to them.
There Is No Palestinian State
Please don’t hesitate to join the thread you started.
Palestine was named by Augustus Caesar and it actually occupied a lot of what we call Lebanon and Syria.
If the Palestinians would agree to live peacefully, and developed their oil potential, Israel would benefit vastly from this oil, even if not a drop of it came from their territory. So again, it is the Palestinian mania to destroy Israel that is the only think holding these people back.
“To compare Palestinians to the Polish people is a real insult to Poland and the Polish.”
That’s why I didn’t do it. I mentioned Poland as an example of a nation literally being extent, ceasing and being extent again. Nations are largely artificial creations.
Yes, I think this is the most important of all the observations on this thread.
If the Palestinians become a state (separated from Israel of course) then they will have to start acting like one. If they keep doing what they have been doing, the Israelis would have every right under international law to invade, conquer, and ANNEX them. (They should have done this with the West Bank in 67,IMHO)
Everything I said was true. Nations come and go. A group of people can create nationhood very deliberately. It’s happening in Greenland right now, for instance.
People can’t just declare themselves a state. That would be like the Tea Party declaring themselves an American state and expecting to have the rights of a state. Palestinians live in Israel, and until Israel agrees to be divided into states including a Palestinian state, there are no states. Also, the Palestinians want a vote in the UN after declaring statehood. No way.
It was comparing American history to the current Palestinian/Israel situation that is insane. For so many reasons it’s not even worth taking this any farther.
I hate when someone clueless starts a thread then never engages in it...... =.=
God gave the Jews that land. In fact, the borders which He gave them was much larger than what they end up with today. He IS going to settle that situation suddenly and decisively. After He does, and people ask why that happened; tell them John 3:16.
That’s why I care. I pray for the peace of Jerusalem; but the Palestinians (Muslims) lob rockets over on to Israel from new borders every time Israel gives up “land for peace”. When Israel dares retaliate, Israel is condemned by the rest of the world.
The Turkish/Code Pink flotilla against Israel’s blockade of Gaza is an example of the split personality that Israel must contend with that makes absolutely no common sense.
Israel is an example of people being productive and innovative. The blood pressure drugs I take were researched, developed and produced in Israel. The list of Jewish advances in science, medicine and other categories is a long one. The list of “Palestinian/Muslim” advances in science, medicine and other categories is about two inches long.
Yet, our President and others pretend otherwise.
“It was comparing American history to the current Palestinian/Israel situation that is insane.”
I didn’t compare the two. I merely pointed out this country has not always existed.
“For so many reasons its not even worth taking this any farther.”
Suit yourself. The truth is plain: Palestine may not be a real country, but that doesn’t mean it can’t become one. The Palestinians may not have existed as a people just 60 yeras ago, but that doesn’t mean they can’t become one.
South Sudan anyone? New country as of this summer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Sudan
Palestine was derived from Philistine or the people of Philistia around 12BC. It derives from the Latin pronunciation.
What possible purpose was there to mention the unspeakable tragedy of the exposure of new world peoples to old world diseases (the magnitude of which we are only now coming to grips with). You brought it up. How does this relate to the current Israel/Palestinian disputes?
Because while Israel would be forced to accept a Palestinian “state”..the Palestinians would never accept the right of Israel to exist as a state. Also Israel would not have total control of airspace and frontier security to protect themselves.....
If they do the US should declare we are suspending all funding to the UN! (hey a Freeper can dream can’t he?) lol...
That way when Israel is attacked by Hamas/Palestine they can declare war on those POS's.
Very informative presentation. Thanks for posting
Nations often don’t start off in the best of circumstances. Many come about because of war and other upheavals. Most likely Palestine as a nation will be born in chaos and bloodshed. How long will it last as a state? I have no idea.
To stick up for the Polish People being compared to Palestinians is a real insult to Russian politicians...! ;>
