Fed Eye Possible Expansion of 2-Year Colleges Across (Which) Nation [Egypt]
U.S. Trade & Aid Monitor ^ | Sept. 19, 2011 | Steve Peacock

The expansion of community-college systems nationwide could improve students’ career options while supporting economic growth, according to the Obama Administration. Consequently, the federal government is exploring the possibility of financing such a modernization project — not in the United States, but in Egypt.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) today issued a request for quotations (#263-11-003) from vendors capable of conducting an assessment of the “legal, technical, managerial and financial feasibility of establishing community colleges in Egypt.”

According to a Statement of Work (SOW) for the endeavor, “The U.S. Secretary of State has indicated her desire to enter into partnership with the Government of Egypt (GOE) to create a network of branded, American-style community colleges in Egypt, with appropriate modifications for the local context.”

The State Dept. and USAID have not yet decided whether to finance an Egypt-wide community college network. Hence, the primary task of the contractor-led study “is to assess whether establishing American-style community colleges is a feasible investment for the U.S. Government (USG) given the current context in Egypt.”

Because there isn’t a glut of unemployed college grads who now have a huge school debt, and no way to pay it; right?

We’re already a nation full of highly educated unemployed persons. What the country needs isn’t more community colleges. what it needs is less government. The government doesn’t fix things, it ruins them and then it tries to fix what it broke and it makes things even worse. Everything they touch turns to Shiite. They are the complete opposite of king Midas.

Egypt’s economy makes ours look rosy by comparison. And that has been a big source of their unrest - college graduates who can’t find jobs. So let’s make MORE!

Great. Educate students for an economy with no jobs for them.

They can always get jobs as terrorists. Educated terrorists.

Why are blowing money in college educations for foreign countries, when our own kids can’t afford to go here in the US? Someone in the government better get their priorities in order.

Their priorities ARE in order. More students mean more student loans sooo Goldman Sax can make more money and hold the Egyptians hostage by debt.Just like here!!!

I could not believe it when I went to see a few more of these “expenditures”. Go to the link and find your favorite waste, print it on a little card and then hand it out to the next person who tells you “we should be fair”.

http://www.tradeaidmonitor.com/2011/09/fed-eye-possible-expansion-of-2-year-colleges-across-nation.html

Here is one:

African Hookers, Homosexual Truck Drivers Targeted for U.S.-Funded Study

“A modified Scope of Work for a U.S.-funded study of both homosexual long-haul truck drivers and female prostitutes in Angola was released this week by the Obama Administration. “

USAID to Fund Power-Line Restoration Project in Georgia

“An estimated $10 million project of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) was launched today to rebuild destroyed power lines and related infrastructure in the nation of Georgia. The agency will help the state utility Georgian State Electrosystem, Ltd. (GSE) to “reestablish” a 37-mile transmission system linking the Menji and Tskaltubo substations.”

USAID to Launch Five-Year Ethiopian Education Endeavor

“A preliminary five-year plan to improve Ethiopia’s educational system was released today by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The draft Statement of Work (SOW) outlines what the agency expects to accomplish via the Reading for Ethiopia’s Achievement Developed (READ) project, which seeks to improve the reading and writing skills of elementary school students. “

Uhm - Hello. What about the Prostitutes, Truck Drivers, Powerlines and Education in THIS country? Why is there a proposal to seek $1.5 Trillion for Education, Jobs and Infrastructure?

It doesn’t look like much individually. Does anyone know what the Budget for USAID is?
