MLK estate at it again.

MLK estate, read MLK children, are at it again. Now they are dragging a well-respected black tv anchor who is a community leader as well through the mud as they suddenly discovered there were some speeches and letters of Dr. King's they had not pimped yet. Starting to think their dad is Don King and not Martin Luther King.

We in Atlanta have dealt with the King Legacy Egomaniacs for decades now.

A marketing cynic would say that they are destroying the “ MLK Brand”

The King family clouds any decent reading og MLK and his life.

Either MLK was a good man and lost out in teaching his family, or the family is just so many acorns from the tree.

I am reminded of Yoko Ono, who lacks a shred of talent yet feels entitled to inject herself into any situation in which the words ‘John Lennon’ are uttered.

History and notoriety are just that - they are not ‘image rights’ contracts with all of society requiring the writing of a check.

Oh yes for sure. Jesse James and his brother were murderers born to a preacher who was always away from home. He saved some coal miners, but lost his children.

Perhaps MLK was similarly well intentioned.

Did they indicate where Mr. King plagiarized THESE speeches and writings from?

The children are just carrying on the tradition and the dream...of money, like their professional widow mother did.

They and their ardent supporters have managed to destroy any real gains made by their father by turning his story and death into a cash cow. All they are really doing is rocketing any legacy he had into the category of historical footnote. In less than 25 more years nobody will much care about any legacy that might have been.

The only material I am interested in reading about MLK is the FBI transcripts of his many sexual transgressions from the marriage path but then again the King family has probably copyrighted them too.

If someone sent or mailed you a letter, it belongs to you, the receiver, and your descendants and does not belong to the sender and or the sender’s descendants? Not sure about transcripts, those unless gifted may belong to the author and the author’s descendants, but letters...

Justice Thurgood Marshall, the first black appointed to the SCOTUS, did more to empower black Americans through his court rulings than all of MLKs speeches put together.

No surprise his family behaves poorly. Martin Luther King was an adulterer and a plagiarist. He stole half of his dissertation. The night before he died the FBI taped him arranging a sexual orgy. Apparently he was racist too. He preferred white prostitutes over black ones.

MLK became enshrined by the liberals and the media, IMO, because they were scared to death of Malcolm X.

His personal papers, etc. are property of his heirs to do with as they see fit ...

His letters to other people, however, are the property of the addressee or his/her heirs, if they have been voluntarily surrendered to said addressee ...
