The Republican Primary is Over

The Republican presidential primary contest is over. Yes, you heard us right.

Despite the months of campaigning ahead; the speeches, fundraising, media proxy wars, endorsements, gaffes and dark horse speculation, there is increasingly little doubt about the Republican presidential nominee for 2012.

His name is Mitt Romney.

From the beginning the contest has been Romney’s to lose, and not merely because of a party predilection toward nominating the last runner up. It’s been Romney’s to lose because of a combination of his own qualities, and those of his competition.

Were he in a position to be truly candid, like any politician, he would likely tell you that he’s taken plenty of policy decisions based on both evolving values and political expedience; a penchant that has earned him mistrust among social conservatives in particular. Romney has also disappointed limited government conservatives with his Massachusetts health care mandate. But to be successful, Romney doesn’t need to convince you that he’s a rock-ribbed conservative, he only needs to remain the safest and most electable of the Republican candidates. So far, he’s doing just that.

i am just sick of the choice being socialist or socialist-lite... at this pace it will take another 25 years of back forth between these idiots. Then my kids will have to deal with it. Rip the band-aid off. Years ago, we turned the reins completely over to the Democrats in places like Cleveland and Detroit etc for 50 years and they are imploding. Businesses left...hell, anyone decent is leaving. All we are doing with these candidates is stalling the inevitable. Let the dog catch the truck and see what he does with it! When he chews on the tire a bit and gives up, we get back in the truck, turn it around and get back to work.

Romney is at bottom of my list. However, he can win the nomination if conservatives divide their votes between Cain, Bachmann & Santorum.
If us conservatives are smart, we would pick 1 candidate and back him/her exclusively. That is the only way to ensure Mitt loses.

Isn’t that nice of you. Romney is not my pick, not even close, BUT IF GOP PRIMARY VOTERS PICK ROMNEY, it is what it is.

I would rather fight Romney on our terms, than get Obama again.

The funny thing is Erick Erickson and his yes-men posters all are pushing Perry....and dissing Palin. Yet when they poll all of Redstate, Palin wins by a landslide!

Mitt Romney? Nice guy I suppose but I thought the winner of the republican primary had to be a republican.

Hmm...how did that worked out with Dole and McCain?

The GOP has chosen its 2012 Spoiler!!!!!

Same as the 2010 spoiler and the 2008 spoiler:

Milt Willard Romney, the Complaining Mormon,
who is unable to discuss his real problems,
but instead always reverts to his religion.
[Not to discuss it, but to hide behind it,
as his Team viciously massacres others
GOP candidates using dirty tricks
and lies (the RomneyWAY(TM).]

WHile I have long understood that the CCRP thinks the Mittster's 'time' has come, the Rino Herd is not paying attention.

I and many like me are getting old, grumpy, and waking up a mite stiff in the morning.

Either we get things on the right track in no uncertain terms in this election, or we're liable to see the 'reset' button get hit, anyway.

Might as well get this over while I still have my teeth.

No half-measures, no "compromise", and NO RINO.

I would vote for BTK Killer over Obama at this point.

Many would, so why not get a hardcore conservative? Would they vote for Obama or abstain over such a candidate?

IT’S UNANIMOUS FOR ROMNEY

Carville(D):
"It's a feel-good story, this Romney thing.
Romney is an ascendant guy
."

Sen. John Kerry (D) to Don Imus on RomneyCARE:
"I like this health care bill".

Sen. Hillary Clinton (D) on RomneyCARE:
"To come up with a bipartisan plan in this polarized environment is commendable."

Mitt Romney wins much coveted Jimmy Carter endorsement

Milt to DiMasi: "See you in only eight, partner."

Don’t forget you have to consider 8 years of Romney or 4 more years of Obama. I don’t think the country can survive either.

So if he is the nominee, and you stay home, and Bama wins, my opinion is that you forfeited your right to compain.
