Nobody knows if he ever killed anybody, Mr. Paul said after a breakfast at Saint Anselm Colleges New Hampshire Institute of Politics. If the American people accept this blindly and casually I think thats sad.
Mr. Awlaki, accused by the U.S. of planning al Qaeda attacks on U.S. citizens and recruiting terrorists, has been a longtime target of the U.S.

Of course, maybe we should have captured this guy, sent hi to club Gitmo and found out what he was planning. Using a drone airstrike doesn't do much for intelligence gathering.
There’s a straight jacket somewhere waiting for that nut.
Nobody knows if he ever killed anybody,
...always good to wait until after his dirty bombs or whatever are detonated. Count the casualties THEN go after him and charge him for each individual casualty. ~sarc
Idiot should be asked what he would have suggested. Send some troops into harms way to read him Miranda?
Ron Paul is basically a leftist without the gun grabbing.
Nobel Peace Prize winnner Obama okay’s killing of perhaps innocent man.
Ron Paul
oops ... equipment malfunction ... sorry, chief.
You’re right, and it can’t be soon enough.
Ron sounds like one of those liberals who believe that criminals should be given a “fair” shot at committing their crimes, in this case, kill a bunch of Americans, before anything is done to stop them. It’s an aCLU thing. I believe just the opposite. Get them before they get you. It’s a military thing.
I guess had he been killed at the behest of a letter of Marque it would have been more acceptable?
Every al Qaeda person should be terminated, IMHO.
Yes killing terrorists with out a trial is a bad thing. -eyeroll- This is why he is unfit to serve.
[ Ron Paul is basically a leftist without the gun grabbing. ]
No, he is a Libertine who is living in a land of theoreticals far far isolated from the reality of reality.
Idealy if the world was “perfect” Ron Paul’s policies would work quite nicely, but the world is far from perfect.
Even if we could afford the human capital risked in capturing him, we no longer have the latitude to use the tools necessary to tap into the available intelligence from this subject (in English, read no torture or waterboarding; he wouldn't have told us a damned thing).
Besides, we would have been stuck with the idiot forever. The ACLU would have devoted all its vast resources to protect his civil rights.
After all, he was an American citizen as the media have told us...and TOLD US...and TOLD US!
I hope he died slowly and in great pain!
How is that different from a leftist.
no bump.
Paul is incredibly wrong
How can you be ‘not sure’? Paul is wrong - period.
You either adhere to the Constitution or you don’t. Make your choice.
“No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.”
Not applicable. Like a pirate, he at war with all of civilized mankind, and may be killed out of hand by anyone who can reach him.
BS. He was a US citizen.
Good grief, go away Ron Paul. Get out of the Republican party and go run as the loopy libertarian you are. Enough already, Paul needs to just GO away and take his conspiracy nut truther brigades with him.
And... everybody now knows he won't in the future.
Actually, it's an idiotic argument. Do our troops in wartime EVER know whether the specific enemy soldier they're targeting has killed anyone? No. Leave it to Wrong Paul to side with the ACLU.
Had Awlaki been captured and sent to GITMO, he'd have become a cause celebre... another Mumia. There's enough on him to warrant the kill. Score one for the good guys.
He was filth... and he's now dead. Get over it, Wrong.
He is one huge embarrassment to the Republican Party. Good grief, I wish he would just go away.
Exactly. There are some folks here who are opposed to the tyranny of the left but are quite comfortable imposing their own forms of tyranny.
I heard some pundit recently liken Wrong Paul to an annoying, loud guy in a bar. You can’t get far enough away from him and he just keeps blathering on.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!
KILL
KILL
KILL
KILL
KILL
KILL
KILL

**** ron paul.
LLS
...except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger...
The fool was killed in the battlefield, period.
Don't want to die? Don't go up against America
Si were the Rosenbergs!
Well... we can just say we attacked the other members of his convoy and Awlaki was at the “wrong place at the wrong time.”
Collateral damage... it’s not like we’re talking about a human.
Si = So
I think we arguing about just how bloody insane Ron Paul and his Libertines are.
Read the entire amendment.
“... nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.”
You are sounding just like a lefty hoplophobe picking apart the Second Amendment.
I used to say “Ron Paul is a NUT!” But this latest statement proves “Ron Paul is a raving lunatic!”
The science on that is settled
In a hot pursuit situation, due process of law mostly involves making sure you don’t miss
Right Ron. And that is why we never actually kill anybody on the battlefield. I mean how do we know it that guy I am about to shoot has ever killed anybody. Heck, he may have been a really lousy shot and never hit anyone. So we always just take prisoners and never really kill anyone.
Ron Paul is an idiot.
I don’t have much use for Ron Paul, but I find it distressing how many FReepers are OK with this killing of a US citizen without due process.
You’re not sure that the federal government can kill any American citizen who has not even been charged in a court?!
Listen CL, that a-hole was about as American as OBL! Being born here should not be the only criteria for citizenship. We should abolish that rule. There is more to American citizenship than just happening to have been born somewhere called American territory. This man was an enemy of the U.S., simple as that.
Paultards think the proper way of handling the Pearl Harbor attack was to issue indictments on persons unknown making dive bombing, torpedo attacks and strafing runs on American warships and servicemen. Then, capturing some of them b through some unknown method that doesn't compromise their Constitution rights, use convictions against the "trigger-men" and plea bargains to work your way up to "Mr. Big". Yeah, that'd work.
Ron Paul and the Paultards should make the choice: sanity or insanity. So far Ron himself seems to be going with insanity.
Drone-mail. Citizenship revoked.
>Listen CL, that a-hole was about as American as OBL!
Perhaps, but the fact remains that OBL was a Saudi, this guy
was a US Citizen.
>Being born here should not be the only criteria for
>citizenship. We should abolish that rule. There is
>more to American citizenship than just happening to
>have been born somewhere called American territory.
Then amend the Constitution. In the mean time, it remains
the law of the land in its current state and was written by
minds much greater than yours or mine with the intent of
protecting its citizens from a tyrannical government.
>This man was an enemy of the U.S., simple as that.
Yes he was but he was deprived of due process.
Where will you draw the line? When Freepers are assassinated
for being enemies of the state?
Ron and the Paultards think the proper way of handling the Pearl Harbor attack was to issue indictments on persons unknown making dive bombing, torpedo attacks and strafing runs on American warships and servicemen. Then, capturing some of them through some unknown method that doesn't compromise their Constitution rights, use convictions against the "trigger-men" and plea bargains to work your way up to "Mr. Big". Yeah, that'd work.
Ron Paul and the Paultards should make the choice: sanity or insanity. So far Ron himself seems to be going with insanity. You have to make the same choice: sanity or insanity.
So
>We’re making war on him and his ilk.
Wow. So it’s ok for the US Government to make war on and kill its own citizens?
FWIW, I’m a Palinista.
His/their status was change from citizen to combatant...could happen to anyone (US citizen) due to Homeland Security.
Paul is correct
§ 1481. Loss of nationality by native-born or naturalized citizen; voluntary action; burden of proof; presumptions
(7) committing any act of treason against, or attempting by force to overthrow, or bearing arms against, the United States, violating or conspiring to violate any of the provisions of section 2383 of title 18, or willfully performing any act in violation of section 2385 of title 18, or violating section 2384 of title 18 by engaging in a conspiracy to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, if and when he is convicted thereof by a court martial or by a court of competent jurisdiction.
