The choice of Biden as VP has to be hung around Obama’s neck next fall. This man is a fool. And as they say, it’;s the first Presidential decision the President makes.

Parts of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California were, indeed, settled by people from Mexico prior to their loss of territory in the Mexican War.
The vast majority of them were damn happy when Santa Ana and his armies got their butts kicked and they became Americans. Some of these same Latinos even fought on our side at the Alamo or in the Mexican War or were married to Americans which did.
The fact that we rolled out the welcome mat to these people who wanted to be Americans and not just wanted to milk Americans does not give Carte Blanche to everyone south of the border (many of whom openly preach and call for reconquest) who wants to move here or remain here and continue to milk the system dry.
And, yes, to be fair, a relative handful of them were not happy to have their lands acquired by the Americans a mere 37 years after Mexico achieved independence. Some of them weren't treated really nice. But they were all given the choice to stay and keep their lands on condition of an oath of allegiance to their new country or to peacefully pack up and leave. Guess which most of them chose to do?
