Insisting that things are much better than most people think, Vice-President Joe Biden said he is comfortable with the idea of phasing former President George Bush out of the conversation when it comes to the economy.
A narrow focus on unemployment and deficits misses the overarching improvements we have achieved since Barack Obama took office, Biden cautioned. Look, if youre among the 9% who are unemployed its a bummer. But if youre one of the 91% who has a job your commute to work is easier since fewer people will be driving to jobs on the streets you use. So, Id say the vast majority are clearly better off for this reason alone.
Another benefit cited by Biden was the concomitant reduction in air pollution. You know, cars are one of the main sources of noxious emissions, Biden reminded. With fewer of them on the road the air is cleaner. And since everyone breathes this is a gain for 100% of the population, even the minority that is unemployed.
Biden also emphasized the bright side of deficits, saying that these shortfalls have awakened the public to the need for higher taxes. When budgets are balanced its hard to make the case for raising taxes. But with the solvency of the nation at stake, more people are rallying to the support of their government.
The vice-president urged voters to not lose sight of the gains weve made. As the President has said, weve achieved 80% of what we set out to do. Now is not the time to turn our backs on the positive strides President Obama has made. There can be no gain without pain. We need to stay the course and push through the pain in order to continue toward the promised transformation of America that the people voted for in 2010.
In related news, former President Bill Clinton warned voters to not be swayed by the siren song of individualism thats being peddled by the Tea Party fanatics. So called rugged individualism is a myth. The idea that a person can or should be expected to take care of himself or herself defies common sense. Government is, and always has been, the well-spring of human progress. To suggest that the current level of government control, direction, and regulation might be more of a hindrance than a help is pure nonsense.
another good one. Always a laugh (although I always pause b/c it is too close to reality).
You didn’t need to put much spin on this one.
Amazing he is V.P.
Amazing what LSD does to the brain.
This one is great. Those taking it seriously in 3, 2, 1...
The good thing about Rimshot Joe is that he’ll be able to get a job as a standup comic once he loses his “day job” in 2012. That’s more than I can say for Obama. He’s going to be SOL. Barry won’t even be welcome on the college lecture circuit due to his blowing the communist’s big opportunity for a takeover of America.
Ok. Obama can take credit for the disaster to come
I predict he will unleash those billions in faux job's programs of all descriptions to suddenly give the economy a boost when he needs it most next year.
“Biden Says Obama, Not Bush, Should Get Credit for Economy”
He will, sir, he will! Next November!
Thanks John Semmens. A little satire, that’s all.
It looks like blaming Bush has reached the crossover point in their poll research and is now hurting them more than helping them...hence out trots Joe Dumbass Biden to change the narrative.
Haha. John you got me this time. I fell for it big time.
Somehow I suspected that Semmens might channel Bloomberg (among the other progressives saying things so foolish as to invite satire).
Another fine column by John S.
IMO there is plenty of blame to share.
The situation we are in did not start yesterday.
Many Presidents added to the debt, Many Congress’s spent too much.
Having said that it is undeniable that Obama came in without any inkling of how to run a country, how to run an economy, How to run his administration/
Now a smart man would want to look good even if he were not experienced, even if he were not knowledgeable of what his job was. In order to do that he would pick the best people he could find to advise him and to run the different Departments of Gopvernment and to be his Cabinet Secretaries.
This idiot come in and brings his pals with him. People who know even less than he. A pervert to be School safety Czar. A Jobs Czar who sent all of his companies jobs to China. An Attorney general who doesn’t know dick.Obama’s own racism and the racism of his administration taking precedent over wise decisions. His bi-sexual inclinations telling him not to see that the laws of DOMA are carried out , to destroy the military with the ending of DADT, Abortion, Obamacare and it’s hidden agenda of Single payer. His attack on the 2nd. Amendement through Fast and Furious, which should lead to his impeachment. Constant vacations and Golf Trips while the American People are hurting and he ignores their pain. In fact he wants to make it worse by taxing us into the poor house, for certainly canceling deductions for oil companies and taxing Corporations is in reality a tax on the people who use the products these people produce.
Let’s not forget over regulating everything fron Coal to a Hamburger and French Fries.
As I said plenty of blame to go around , but this boy is carrying the Lions share, he more than earned his large share of the blame for our situation.
Hanging head. I was taking it seriously past 1, for a while. Then I thought to myself, wait a minute, nobody not even Joe Biden is THAT stupid, and then, only then did I look at the source. The scary part is that you can really imagine Biden saying those things, really! OMG
You did it again, John. Thanks for the ping.
“Semi-Satire” Yea, barely. More like the gray area between
what they are saying and what they really mean. It has to
be hard to do anything satire about Biden.
Now Obama’s whole existence is satire.
