this was just posted on the Teamsters Facebook page:
Teamsters Notice: This Facebook page is not a forum for discussing internal union politics but for issues that affect the Teamsters, unions and working people. Going forward, comments that refer to internal union politics will be deleted and the poster will be warned. Anyone who posts a comment about internal union politics after being warned will be banned from the page.
So what? Anyone wanting to criticize the Teamsters can always do so on FR.
LOL! How wonderful is Social Networking?
I hate the Teamsters thugs, but I don’t have a problem with this. Shouldn’t people be able to control the comments on their own Facebook page? If someone wants to out the thug activities, they should have their own anti Teamster page.
My father-in-law is a Teamster.
We have “interesting” political conversations.
Unions can do no wrong.
The Unions need to know not all their members agree with their actions. This is just a way to shut people up. There are quite a few people that did speak up too. Hoffa just didn’t want to hear it (and he didn’t want other members to hear it either).
They’re not doing anything that Jim Robinson isn’t doing, in this regard. There’s no free speech on a private web site, and that includes a Facebook page.
HaHa.....the people who fund the machine had better not dare to speak ill of it. That’s a special kind of gratitude!
This is boilerplate for all corporations and groups. It really isn’t a Free Speech issue (Congress shall make no law...)
I know a way to keep their webmaster busy!
Why am I not surprised?
That's simply my right, just like the unions.
Someone should post to the sight “that is ok because most of us know we can also ask for our dues back now days....” See how they like that little tidbit of info on their page.
Who cares? We routinely “zot” people on here.
I loath unions, however it is their page they can have discussion or not. This is not a free speech issue.
Do we not “zot” people on here who don’t agree with us?
I disagree.
Being a Freeper is completely voluntary. You can chose to financially support free republic or not, and Jim doesn’t defer part of the donation to barack obama.
Many union members are forced into membership, forced to pay dues, and forced to watch money funneled to causes they do not agree with.
If the Unions don’t want discourse with their members, then don’t have a forum at all.
Dont the mods do a similar thing here?
Same policy that my employer has. It’s prudent not to air your dirty laundry in public. Plus, local union issues seem like they should be hashed out on the local’s page anyway.
When union thugs warn a poster, things can get nasty, like guys showing up at your house with baseball bats or car bombs. March the way they tell you to.
